    I dont get the punishment of not owning a pet for three years. Three years isn't going to change anything. If you mistreat an animal, you shouldn't be able to own a pet again.

      Usually, ppl who are abusive to pets actually don't want them & don't seek another pet by the end of three years. Oddly, they may change their habits &/or situation by the end of that time, as well. They will be monitored if they acquire a pet. If anything appears out of order, they will once again have their pet removed & they will then be fined & banned from having a pet for life if the abuse happens again.

      Of course most are lovely dogs. But a few are not (usually due to breeding aggressive lines or bad owners). But, its right to ban this breed because they are so powerful and POTENTIALLY dangerous or even deadly. Because of stupid or evil people it give the rest of the good pitbull owners and there dogs a bad name. But so long as there are pitbull dogs there will be people getting killed, injured or them killing other dogs. So the only answer is to ban stop breeding them.

      @@jase123111 You are basically agreeing to a law that thinks that just because someone have a certain height, body build and face feature they are a certain breed. Like saying a human with a certain height, body build and face feature are African, no matter if the skin are white as a ghost. By law they are African…
      It’s IDIOTIC, is what it is. Only DNA can tell for certain what type of breed a dog is, not a stupid wannabe “dog expert”. This is dog racism >.

    • @maargenbx1454
      @maargenbx1454 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jase123111Places that put bans on “pit bulls” years ago are beginning to lift the bans after its become clear that the bans didn’t lead to fewer dog bites or fatalities. Turns out that the people who either don’t know how to socialize dogs or actually want vicious dogs get dogs of other breeds that then turn out to be vicious. What makes a dog vicious is how it’s bred and treated, not the breed.
      Also, the proper way to do a threat assessment is to know how many negative outcomes out of a total number or population. For instance if you want to know if it’s safe to fly on a plane you don’t consider how many crashes you can think of, you need to know how many crashes as a percentage of total flights.
      So the question is, what percentage of “pit bulls” are vicious out of the number of total “pit bulls”? Of course you don’t know. There are millions of “pit bull” type dogs, most of them mixes of indeterminate breeds. The vast majority of these dogs - even the ones that have been abused, neglected, ill socialized - never cause a problem.
      Blaming superficial, inaccurately assessed factors such as “breed”, rather than the factors that actually contribute to bad behavior, such as treatment , is lazy and dangerous.

    So good to know this SPCA officer made the visit to Kiren. As a former community nurse in Canada 🇨🇦 (disabled and now retired) I started to see more and more people with mental health care needs, some almost living on the street. It was amazing to see that these people would often go without themselves in order for their pets to be well fed and cared for. People will often say well if he/she didn’t have that dog, they might be able to put a roof over their head. But, they fail to understand that the dog(s) maybe all they have in this world. Their dog is all they have. Their dog is their world. …. I will admit right now I haven’t seen passed the point where Hershey just makes it through the door and the young man’s dogs in my opinion are in great condition, given the state of the home. THIS is where I hope the health and well being does not fall through the cracks. We cannot fail the human animal either you know and these days we all have a duty to report child abuse, adult abuse, animal abuse etc so whatever “OFFICER” HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL, apartment super. , minister, teacher is able to get in the door we must not fail. Now I have to see what is done here once Ms Hershey starts to really interact with Keirnan.

    • @TheKatarinaGiselle
      @TheKatarinaGiselle 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It shouldn't even get to the point where dogs need to be removed for poor conditions because when we put human welfare and needs first as a community, we can therefore protect children, people with disabilities, pets, those responsible due to their own struggles with mental health issues and/or drugs. It's heartbreaking really when you think about it because how can we care for the most vulnerable, if the "toughes" broken individuals are also neglected (regardless of their state, and by that I mean violent or seemingly evil/scary tendencies, which all reverts back to needing mental help.) For an _extreme_ example, I know a TH-camr that finds pedos online and he is this MASSIVE dude, but has such a gentle way with words and ALWAYS gets these men to admit to what they are doing while still treating them like human beings (I truly don't know how he does it..he has the grounding energy of a one hundred year old monk) and they end up arrested. He saves LIVES doing this! And he even saves people who have never committed crimes, but we're considering givigf in to their urges, and guess them psychological and phychiatric professional help. Nor me personally- I don't think those demons deserve prison time..that isn't justice in my eyes and it's a punishment for their sick ways on good tax payers. I think they should be tortured and killed publically as a warning to all people! (Along with maybe a program that talks about sexual abuse and how it can lead to those urges or other mental problems can, and if you ever experience them this is what you need to do..then again, DARE never worked much, but at least it could educate and teach kids being abused to speak up and how to safely) I SEVERELY DIGRESS! My point for bringigg this EXTREME example out is reaching out WORKS. We need organizations in every state who can help people struggling with depression and are hoarding as a result, or people who have nobody BUT their dog yet struggle with buying flea medication or dewormer or food, people who can reach out to elderly people who can no longer care for their pets but are so ashamed of the state of their home or the dogs and they need to feel comfortable and safe to reach out or for neighbors who can ring them up for a check in to offer services, even if it's simply a dog walker because they are weak or were in an accident and they can't walk them. But not only that, to offer services for them as well- a liason who can connect them to other services. To be honest, this would be a dream of mine..to make this a reality for my community and to make this specific kind of non-profit who brings on and trains volunteers and recieves donations. I wish I had to.know how and the money to jump start this sort of thing. But to be honest, my gift is coming up with amazing ideas..but I don't have futher education and I live in section 8 myself and cant even afford to eat myself at the moment..I just barely scrape by, and my children's grandparents on either side each have a child rn now for summer as we try to get our shitty apartment into better shape with a contractor and as we try to find work (and the contractor is JUST doing the kitchen now after a month if waiting..my boys come home in a week and I still need to get the bathroom gutted and redone, and our entire Carpet had been flooded underneath (slowly over the last decade, but the complex has refused to help..probably because it's the foundation and its 3 rooms and they would Moe than likely need to rehome us..I could probably sue for being stuck with black mold for the better half of our stay! If I knew how/where to start. 🥺) I guess this particular idea came to me because I could have used a service like this. Although I don't have pets. We want one or two desperately, but we'd never get a pet until we could give it the best life. We rescued a cat in the spring time, and we desperately tried to get our shit together so we could adopt it after we dropped him off at the woman's humane society (don't ask me why yrs named that, but it's for animals). It was so hard for me dripping him off.. I cried. In the hours we had him, we bonded so. I do believe he was abandoned. He had a cold, but other than that he was clean and so friendly. But he'd been out at least one night, maybe two (it had been raining the day my husband let him in our building. I got him some fresh water and large catfood can (even when we are hungry, we feed the local feral colony) and he ate SO much of it right away. Anyways, by that Friday after about a week, he was better and somebody else adopted him. My heart ached, but I knew it was what was best for him and I was happy he now had a good loving home. Anywho- this was a NOVEL of a comment. I haven't left a comment this long and open in ages! Hopefully I didn't bore you, but it goes to show why we live in a day and age where we desperatey need community services even more. Too many people, myself included, live online. People young and old are more disconnected than ever, and we all _need_ in-person connection! Maybe one day I'll make my dream a reality.

    It is so unfair that the victims here, as in the seized animals are the ones that end up behind bars. It hurts my heart every time I see this. Not only is it sad to see but it makes me furious, knowing that the perpetrators of inflicting these crimes onto animals are the very ones on the outside screaming, swearing, shouting of the injustice done to them. People like these are putrid. They are the true animals in this equation. There's definitely missing pieces within their psyche when they feel victimized, entitled, wah wah. To have an animal blatantly looking like that & being scaled as a 2 or a 1 but somehow these people can't see it? Gosh I wish I had the knack of selected sight. I love The Dog Rescuers even though it makes me more sad than not. Knowing that what we get to see is a miniscule view of what is really happening out there. I believe that more promotion for desexing, better education of what it takes to look after animals,the true costs & care of being a responsible animal owner eg; size of dog = budget, insurance, vet care etc. Definitely harsher penalties for animal cruelty.
    It's okay to suggest a bit of brain storming.

    I think some of the biggest evidence of the stupidity of these laws is that the definition of "pitbull" is really just down to "Do we want to put it down or not". If someone wants to see a dog put down, they'll shout "PITBULL!". If not, they pat them on the head and say "Staffy/bulldog". The truth of course, is that the difference between a staffy and a pitbull is almost non-existent, and any of these breeds can be dangerous, or fine and gentle, if they're handled properly.

    I am afraid of dogs at least in part due to bad experiences with poorly-trained ones. This includes aggressive pit bulls. I'm getting a little better with my fear when I see that a dog is not likely to approach me, especially a true service dog that is focused on doing its job.
    However, if a dog is barking at me or tries to approach, I immediately get nervous and scared. I'm a petite woman, and can easily be knocked down and hurt. One of my first bad experiences was being repeatedly knocked down as a child by a dog that belonged to my cousins. My aunt and uncle did nothing to stop the behavior.
    Then there are the pit bulls...my next-door neighbor has them. One was taken away for repeated biting incidents, and another that they still have (somehow) almost got me when I was just walking down the street; they hadn't restrained it properly in the yard. It lunges at the fence, growls, and fence-fights other dogs. The Frenchies they now breed are showing similar bad behavior.
    So, for all of those saying, "It's not the breed!" Perhaps. All my bad experiences have been due to the owners not stepping up and training their dogs properly.
    I don't trust most dogs...and I trust dog owners even less. 😞
    Heck, a previous neighbor AT THE SAME HOUSE had Dalmatians that they abused, leaving them out in the hot sun all day with no food or water! They would beg for water from the garden hose when my mother and I watered our flowers! Thankfully, animal control did do something...but not before one of them died. 😞
    Just...people, I am begging you. Train your dogs. Treat them well. If you don't, it is partly your fault when people develop a fear or advocate for breed-specific bans.

    What breed is a “Lurcher” I don’t think we have those in Canada. Though not a “breed” we do have “pit bull terrier’s or “Pitties” or pit bull mixes here and some provinces or cities yes there are bans against “pitties , pit crosses, even Staffies (a true breed) because of what evil doers have used them for and trained them for. I know from walking into a home with 2 pit bulls salivating and barking on a mat being restrained only by verbal command from a patient I was visiting for care. This patient and spouse were killed a few years later by someone in their own profession. Those in the Drug Trade often have “protection” other illegal practices where these dogs are used is in “dog fighting”. In addition unfortunately where they get a bad rap is from being a big muscular dog where the owner is not familiar in training a dog let alone a big muscular dog, and poorly socialized resulting in someone’s little Poodle or Maltese become a shake toy where death often is the result. A little dog leashed is no feat for a big muscular dog off lead. Most areas where I’ve lived all dogs are to be on a leash unless I’m a dog park and the “dog parks” I have seen leave a lot to be desired. I have seen off leash areas for dogs big and small in a fenced area not much bigger than a basketball court. No rules regarding if a dog is fixed or not. I had an intact male dog (show) Golden Retriever and there is no way, no how would I even consider let off lead in a dog park. You don’t know how socialized others are, what vaccines they have had, if neutered or not, their socialization etc!!!

It all depends on the owner and only proven aggressive dogs should face euthanasia, not just a blanket rule that sees non aggressive dogs destroyed just because of how they look. Even if they kept the law it should be dependent only on DNA test and not just apparent appearance. This is disgusting. Friendly ones should be kept in a no kill shelter to live out their lives if you wanted to eliminate them from the community. Shame on the brittish government, I feel like it's an unnecessary law , ban the owners that raised unfriendly dogs ,not the dogs themselves.

    There is only one dangerous breed - Humans.
    It is humans that make dogs aggressive by they way they are treated. Raise the dog with love and kindness, you get a loving and kind dog.
    Treat it mean, dont feed it, etc, then yeah, it is not going to be nice.
    I own a "pit bull" type dog (in the USA) right now and she is the sweetest dog, loves people, wants to be loved on and petted. Have had others in the past that were the same way. Banning breeds is ridiculous.
    Back in the 80's it was Dobermans that had a bad rap.. then German Shepards, then Rotties... What cracks me up is that statistically, it is small dogs that bite far more often than the bigger, so called "mean" breeds.

      There's a problem of pitbulls causing serious harm to humans and other animals. All dogs can be dangerous but pitbulls were specifically bred to be the most deadly because they were bred for dogfighting. Irresponsible people tend to own potentially dangerous dogs often and it causes the deaths of children and other animals. It's a lose lose situation that is more complex and nuanced than just banning the breed, but the government took the easy way out because trying to deal with the more complicated aspects of the situation was too costly I assume

      @@nquisitiv3471 - just goes to show how misinformed so many people are about the breed. They are descended from the English bull baiting dog - as in cows... when baiting of large animals was outlawed in the 1800's that is when people started pitting dog against dog.
      when properly socialized they are the sweetest dogs around - it all comes down to responsible breeding and how they are raised.
      We actually own a pittie, and she is a luv bug.. adores people. She does not have a mean bone in her body.

    • @nquisitiv3471
      @nquisitiv3471 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@northwoods3d pitbulls have so much love to give to the world; it's the irresponsible and bad owners that don't properly train their dogs to behave that are why they have a bad reputation. Because the dog has the capacity to cause some serious damage, they need to be raised well and taught to not play rough and not engage in hunting behavior in inappropriate situations. Some people encourage the dog to be violent under the guise of "protection" but they don't do it the right way and inevitably the dog ends up hurting someone and has to face the consequences, while the owner usually gets off with a slap on the wrist. Pitbulls are strong dogs, and I think that all dog breeds that are capable of being dangerous to that extent should have required dog training lessons with the owners when they are adopted. I think it would be useful to have that be required to have a "license" to own the dog so we can reduce cases of irresponsible people's dogs causing the death of a child or beloved pet.

    Maybe it is because in my country most dogs are mixed; but I allways assume that people willing to make a big investement on a purebreed dog; have at least the mindset of being a dog owner, have researched the breed, and have the funds to back up any special needs (like skincare) for that dog. Sad to see some humans will have them living a miserable life as long as they "own" them; rather than letting them go to a better home. It wasn't just a clerical error that led to a breed ban. It was a decision that was not made lightly. It was done for public safety because owners, families, children and elderly people were being struck down and mauled, disfigured or killed by them.
