    I love when Andrew starts giggling because he is having so much fun.

    The sudden silence at the top of the loop at 6:36 is amazing!

    nice andrew - definitely makes me want to venture out to other slopes too. i typically just use a cliff side by the beach, but will need to start venturing out there.

    • @AndrewNewton

      Small coastal cliffs and dunes are still my favourite but these big air sites offer a different experience.

      @@AndrewNewton wow thanks for replying to me. Well if you’re ever stateside there’s a great place in the Carlsbad area of California called Dave’s beach. I’ve only been at it a couple months but I really want to get to bigger slopes like mt terrible

    Did notice someone sneaking by on your tail at 7:32. The design looks similar to the flying wing Shaka.

    As a mountain biker and newbie RC pilot, this is a great video :-)
    Andrew, do you have comparison thoughts between the V2 and the 2400? I'm flying a Bix3 now, and looking hard at the 2400 as my 2nd plane when I am through crashing thd Bix. But the V2 seems so similar.. I'll be mostly flying fields near a 4000' mountain and learning about sailing thermals, and I'm not super interested in sports performance.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      2400 is not as good for thermalling in my opinion. I prefer the V2

    Really enjoyed the vlog Andrew, great area for sloping that's for sure!! Also loving the wind rush noises as she slowly goes over the loop and then the rushing down the other side 👏👏👍👍👍 thanks and best wishes from Alan UK 🤗🤗👍👍

    Been past that spot many times, just never chucked a glider off it. I miss those sorts of places, in QLD we have a few sites like this but generally they are all on private property, or have been swallowed up by urban development. One site was 15 mins from my place but they levelled the hill and its all family estate housing now. Big hills = big lift for sure.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is private property but gliding has been permitted for 40 years they tell me.

  • @EnglishTurbines

    Ah, a real slope Andrew. I always take my Phoenix 2000 Moto Glider too, get out of jail if you need it. Safer if you don't have a high end glider...🤔😳🇬🇧...Having fun..

    The first thing that caught my eye this morning was your thumbnail that says "Phoenix V2 Mount Terrible"... I thought your camera must have come off in flight or something! What a great venue, perfect for gliding. I wonder what was so bad there that it ended up with that moniker?

    hello Andrew
    I noticed you have tested the Modster Phoenix v2 and ... the Volantex Phoenix v2. Can you tell us what is the difference between those 2 similar models ? Is there quality difference for example or flight behavior ?
    Rgds. Mny thks.

    • @AndrewNewton

    You were lucky the eagle did not take a bite out of your Phoenix as well. 😬

    Hi Andrew, just subscribed recently, great content. I’m quite new to the sport, and have a train star ascent and a Phoenix V2 as well as some balsa planes. I notice you cover or appear to cover the leading edge and other areas of your foam planes..could you do a video on what you think is the best tape to use and where to apply it..and also why it’s needed - if you think it’s worth a video ;)

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thicker tape like 60 micron is best. Just to protect the leading edge from damage

    Mt Terrible seems not so terrible for sloping. In NZ we have a Mt Difficulty and a Mt Misery, neither any good for sloping!

    If a place is named Mount Terrible, you know they want to keep the place to themselves and keep the pesky tourists away.
