LOVE this video, thank you so so much. I am a potter in Berlin and selling my items online as well. I was wondering where exactly you get all your materials, specifically the boxes and the corrugated cardboard roll. I did an initial google search but wanted to try to avoid using Amazon if possible. Thanks again for all your lovely informational videos!
can´t you just find a company that does shred a lot of their documents? shredded paper is suuuper easy to stuff in tight corners, and in my opinion is an awesome filling material to protect delicate items. great video! love that you avoid plastic as much as possible!
Could you please please please do a studio tour? Im a beginner potter and I’m moving soon. I have to find a studio in a new city to do pottery and I’d love to see yours to be able to compare. I’m currently using our community center which I won’t have in my new city so I have to go to a “real” studio. Would love to hear how you price time and classes too.
Thank you for sharing this! I have been thinking about this a lot for my own studio… I am reusing plastic from my community at the moment… but it still kinda feels wrong… I have used wood shavings… but I don’t have enough… What are your thoughts on the added package/shipping-weight due to the paper alternatives?
It’s a balancing act. The one cuts down trees and uses vast amounts of energy to produce and even recycled it takes vast amounts of energy. The cardboard federation of France estimates 1 ton of cardboard produces 538kg of C02 during its life cycle (EcoBahn) - the other, plastic, is a petroleum based product which although can be reused many times over also has its drawbacks
The way you ripped that tape with those edges and then applied it. I would have nightmares with those imperfect lines. I cut my tape with scissors and apply squarely. I double box all my pottery and tape every seam completely. I've done construction jobs at UPS and witnessed how packages are handled and how packages tumble on conveyor lines. It ain't pretty, that guy at the transfer station is throwing packages out from the back of the truck to the guy flopping them on the conveyor line. As potters we're lucky more orders aren't destroyed.
