I will never forget the day I realized Bad Romance is just a ode to Hitchcock. I want your Psycho, your Vertigo stick, want you in Rear Window, baby you're sick. I was so impressed by that. It's also a double entendre.

For me-Lady Gaga's true talent comes out when she sits at a piano and sings. No funky voices, no techno. I think she's extremely talented, but I like her voice and emotion. Not so much the flashy show and the 'Bad Romance'-esque stuff. Like when she did the "Sound of Music" at the Oscars. Beautiful stuff. I saw her live and she WAS super cool to see. I'll give her that. She was entertaining!

Lady Gaga music career was Plan "B", plan "A" for her was to become an actress. The is why all her preformence are ultra theatrical. She in on her way to becoming a Legend and In some ways she as change the game in the music industry.

That makes a lot of sense. I appreciate the insight! I can definitely agree she is on her way to becoming a legend. How she splits from the label I think will be a key factor in this.

At first it seems silly, but when you think about it for a while you come to the conclusion that they are basically similar in their use of artistic expression to convey the faults of our society. Gaga does it in a pop culture setting and MM does it in an alternative rock/metal way.

I can't deny that her music is better than most music I hear on the radio. One of the first songs I heard that made me go "Wow, music is more than just background noise in the car." was a Lady Gaga song. I may not have the musical appreciation I do today if it weren't for her, so she obviously did something right. I'm not a fan of her but I have to give credit where credit is due.

The spiky pole she's holding is a reference to one of her older songs (LoveGame). You should really check out the performance she had with Metallica at the Grammy's. Even though the sound guys botched the first half of the performance (someone apparently accidentally unplugged James Hetfield’s mic), it was really good. I'd love to see more metal Gaga..

Not a really a fan of pop but I respect Lady Gaga for her talents. I consider Lady GaGa to be the Kate Bush of 2000's. I find a lot of similarities with Lady GaGa's song writing and theatrics to be similar to Kate Bush, whether she took inspiration from her I'm not 100% sure as I don't know about her.

At the beginning you said the red and blue swirly could mean republican and democratic, did you consider it could be Pepsi the sponsor getting their trademark into the performance. Just offering an alternative.

    • @BecomeTheKnight
      @BecomeTheKnight  7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

That's a very good point! I had not considered that, though that's mostly because I typically don't take sponsors into account on performances. I still think there's more symbolism to it than simply the sponsor (especially considering the artist), but I'm sure Pepsi has a hand in the color choice........they paid for it after all haha.

I love all her music yes, but I think her greatest asset is her attention to her fans. She really has a connection with them, although I would not call her a god, I can understand from a fans point of view a kind of devotion to love everything. Just another way to look at it. Like the people in the crowd, all fans that come on their own time to learn choreography for free just to make the show great. Now that I can understand her exhaustion of having to smile all the time. But it clearly has worked.

And she advanced a little bit, doing soundtracks, jazz etc. I think the interesting thing that made me fan on her, is her evolution. And I hope to see more. She just full of possibilities. And that's nice.
She is a genious on her onw vibe. She got her vision. You might not see it, that's okay bc is not your style.. and that's okay too. I guess genious is a world that comes with the future...

I don't know if someone already told you but in reference to her 2015 interview you mentioned in like 2:15, I mean yeah she's still with the same label but there was a drastic change in her management because around that time she did the interview she already had a new manager and people around her changed. Before that was lots of career drama with her album ARTPOP, which is why her recent album Joanne is really different from what people are used to her. She herself is in a way different now before that 2015 interview.

dude... she has changed the game. Lady Gaga and Redone changed electronic music with "Just Dance". There would be no David Guetta if it wasn't. She has changed pop music too, because of her you see artist like Justin beiber and katy perry trying their acoustic versions live. She changed the game on performance, on musicianship, on theatrics , on her Philanthropic work as well. You can't be an all around goddess and not do goddess things. She is probably one of the most real artist today and she does everything for her fans.

what I think is interesting about the Superbowl performance is that the most viewers for the NFL, well football in its entirety, is the South which is mainly Republican. But rather than having someone to appeal to your larger crowd, like having Allan jackson proform, they have Popstars who generally appeal to the more democratic side of America. So basically my question is,well, what up with that.

I think she's trying to be the culturally iconic bridge between the two bc I'm assuming her friends of yesteryear are probably a good mix of both. She doesn't seem to enjoy labels and dividing-people-up so that might be the angle.
I could tell that she wanted to stop catering solely to liberal types when they were plugging her ad campaign for her new album. I haven't heard it yet, but it was in addition to a "dive bar tour", too, and it was at least advertised as smaller venues in places people can forget about on their tours.
That's a risky move, too, bc of all the hostility and cultural stereotypes

Blake swanson 15 it's all about the eyeballs watching the game. Some come for the game, some come for the halftime show. They know that the hard core fans will keep watching regardless of what's going on during halftime, but they know there are some who watch the SuperBowl for its outside entertainment. In a nutshell, the halftime show is meant to appeal to people who don't watch football so that they'll decide to at least watch it once a year.

She is not a Julliard graduate though, she was accepted to go there but she ended up going to a private school instead. She was granted early admission to Tisch's School of Performing Arts and attended to develop her writing abilities but eventually withdrew for more creative freedom. Definitely the one thing I really admire about her is her hustle. When she talks to kids about working hard to get a sliver of success, you need to read up about all the things she did to get there. Even learning how to naturally play piano at the age of 4 without sheet music is impressive. Does she come across as a weird wackadoodle artist? Sure. But the same can be said about David Bowie during his Ziggy Stardust days. She understands the music industry game, that persona is her as a performer and she is so out of the box; it makes you look and/or listen. What I'm saying is, Julliard didn't help her create Lady Gaga - I really believe all her hustling and struggles to reach her dreams did.

Digging into her influences, coupled with her obvious talent, and her real-ish disdain for the business, I can see the potential for her to have a merging Opus moment in the near future that might be interesting. I will say, I actually enjoyed her in the movie A Star is Born. 🤘

I’m a little monster (a term for Gaga fans) and for some reason I don’t feel offended by you lol. Even with what you said in perfect illusion reaction. Study on her and you will find lots of interesting things. Although their are couple of points:
1/ the fame/ the fame monster were never pop albums. They were underground music in nyc that were made popular. She is friends with lots of rock and techno artists that helped making those records. In her early career they would perform together but the record label replaced them with some dancers. They are still good friends and often open for Gaga on tour (lady starlight, Justin Tranter, Semi Precious Weapons)
2/ she studied the fame culture and said that she was the master of fame. She directs the music industry (most successful by any artist with maybe exception of Madonna). Her “crazy outfits” (for the design world were master pieces but not everyone gets it and that’s fine ) were attention directing. She wants people to talk about what she wants them to talk about. That’s how she protects her private life. Later on she mentioned that she is still struggling with fame but at least she dealing with it much better than other pop stars Britney etc. This made her a genius. Most people think they know everything about her but not even 30%. She is most honest when performing or on a piano on tour.
Try out some of her less popular songs: Paparazzi, Brown Eyes, Speechless, The Edge of Glory, Bloody Mary, Angel Down & Sine From Above.
Or even the songs that didn’t make it into albums she has a lot but here are some examples: No Way, Second Time Around, No Floods, Again again etc
Not everyone need to like her, but I promise her music won’t be boring 🙃🙃

But common she's amazing... The way she writes her songs, the beauty of the composition. Acoustic versions of her songs impressed me so much... When I was younger I used to like "PAPARAZZI" but it felt like I was missing something until I heard her acoustic version. To be honest, I really do think her voice is unique. One of the voices I actually remember, not just because she's famous and her songs are played over and over again, but because her voice has something special, which is difficult to describe at all... I mean as a singer I respect her work and I also respect her for being such a skilled musician. However dude, she is an amazing artist. One of the singers I look up to, even though she's into pop.

Personally... my favorite cover of Bad Romance is Halestorm's. Now, some people have issues with how metal they are or not -- and someone ran down the ways they're 'only' 'hard rock'...and pretty much described the Black Album. Whatever, though, Lzzy does know how to rock.

Could you PRETTYPLEASE do a video reacting to Miley Cyrus "I'll take care of you" or "The Scientist", hell I'd even take a reaction to her Dolly Parton covers. She is an outstanding vocalist that is constantly tipping her hat to past greats, while at the same time adding her own flair. I think you could definitely appreciate some of her off-label and acoustic recordings, there's definitely a lot there to dissect.
