I remember when Dan told the story about asking Sean to start a whiskey channel on youtube and Sean was against the idea because he refused to be "that guy" who gives pretentious nosing and tasting notes.

Good luck Andrew!! I "won" the right to buy a bottle of the lesser 10 year VWR a couple of weeks ago and they wanted $399. NoGo. I wonder if anyone did pay $399 for that bottle.
I found 2 of this bottles locally for 1,000 each.
My guy local guy has a bottle of 10yr for $500. And a bottle of 12 for $600 . Should I buy? I’m in northern Cali
Guys, had a 2 oz. pour for $18. Not sure of the year or proof then followed with a pour of the 2017 GTS for $24. The Lot B was great BUT the GTS was UFR!! Went back a week later and just ordered the GTS!! I'd pay $200 for that GTS but not $400 to 800.
Yea the 90.4 proof is a small let down. However, I'd say 18 for a 2oz pour is a great deal that I would tell anyone to pick up if they haven't had lot B.
Had this bottle nose is great but finish is non existent it just disappears.

@@BourbonJunkies It was a 2015 bottling, lacking depth, complexity, and finish. I thought it was only a minor improvement over the Weller Antique and 12yr. I think I'd rather have Full Proof, and when you can get $400+ on the secondary...
Sippers Social Club, agree completely, had 2, traded 1 for a Rip 10 and some other stuff, drank half the other, gave it to Rob and it eventually made it's way to Trenny and C :)

@G2 The M Yeah, im not in it make money either. Anytime I sell or trade a bottle the money goes right back into buying more whisky. If I win an allocated bourbon in a lottery I'm most likely selling or trading it. You can look at my channel. I've opened Pappy 15 to 23, GTS, WLW, ect ect. But all those bottles are not worth their secondary value. I have no shame in exchanging a bourbon for something I'll enjoy way more.
Just came across this video. How in the world did you get that bottle for 2 bills? Paid $1100 last year (2020), for my brother’s retirement from the Navy. One of the best I’ve ever had.

Lol we also put it pretty low on the Weller war we did. I mean it's not great, but it's so much worse than lot B.

We did hear a little something about the lot 40. We haven't had a newer 20, but the 15 is probably my favorite.

Great review!!! My buddies and I did a blind with the Weller 12 and the Lot B, opening noth of the bottles together. Three of my buddies preferred the W12 off the bat, I chose the Lot B. This is certainly a gem of a bottle, my first and only from the Winkle family. It did not disappoint me by any means. Thanks guys!!

I find all whiskey review channels give pricey whiskey an easy pass but will critique a cheaper bottle to the highest degree... me personally I find alot of 80.00 bottles to be more complex than the over hyped vanwinkle pappy lines
Trust you me we will shit on some expensive bottles. We've spent 600 on the HH decanters and hate almost all of them.
Nothing better than double oaked. $50 bucks
I got one at a total wine raffle in las vegas. $116. I would not spend $200 for it. It's good, but way too hyped.....
But if you never had it if you walked into a place and saw one for $200 would you buy it?

I had some 2019 Lot B this past weekend from relative that won a bottle in the OH lottery. I will have to honestly say I would rather have a Boone County 12yr Single Barrel than this ! Just my opinion !
We have a Boone single barrel and it's hands down the best mgp product we have. No shame in that opinion.

I mean it depends on how much $500 means to you. I'd pass at $500 for a 90 proof sipper. It's great whiskey, but you can get a lot of good whiskey for $500
Agree. I am currently buying Elijah Craig c920 at a very fair price and I can imagine it near as good, especially considering proof.

We've seen like 2 ryes ever, and they were at raffles. Never got a chance to try one however.
Other question old forester 1910 or 1920 if you had to choose. Granted I've seen the other video. I'm tempted to do both
I got both the lot b and the weller 12 this year and I liked the weller better but waiting to see if that changes with time.
We know a lot of people really like the regular 12. Don't feel bad if you like the regular over lot B, we get told a lot taste is subjective.
Honestly if it turns out I prefer the weller all the way through the bottle I will be ecstatic on account it was $70 cheaper. That being said I will always have a soft spot for the Van Winkle line since it was what got me into truly appreciating whiskey.
I definitely put Weller12 over Old Rip VW 10 yr when having them back to back. The multiple Weller 12s I've had were pretty great.
Found little book 3 in NJ 119.00 plus 7% tax after I purchased one, 6/8 left about an hour from me is it worth going back for more?
Try it. We found if you open it and let it sit for like 15 minutes it gets much better. I think we both really like it, but it needs that time.

@@Tward2929 I used to buy lot B for $100 a bottle and it wasn't worth it back then 10 years ago. Tasted a bottle from the early 00's that was good, the later stuff is pretty garbage.
I think I need to revisit my 2017 bottle of vanwinkle lot b....I was not that impressed with it...and I'm not trying to be above the van Winkle line....had a bottle of 15 year and it was amazing...wouldn't pay secondary for..but would pay a few hundred
15 is entirely different beast, idk what they do in those 3 years to make it that much better.
