This whole chat, part 1 through 3, was incredibly enlightening. Turns out, I'm a very logically driven person who rarely shows any emotion. Always thought logic will always be better than reacting with emotions, making emotional decisions, etc. But not only was I completely humbled by the thoughts expressed in this discussion, but I also have a new word (thought process? action?) with 'Turiya'. I still can't say it properly but damn did I completely understand every bit about you and Thor explaining and expanding on it.
I have a new outlook on meditation and life in general now. I'm so very glad I watched and listened to this. I'm going back through again and taking notes now that I can focus on that instead of following the thought trains. Thank you, Dr. K & Thor!

Walking was discussed... it should be common knowledge that our hands and feet are very complex. Difficult to draw they are so complex. Thus, when we pace or when we use our hands to do things, it requires much from our brain. Walking and using our hands literally lights up the 'entire' brain (can't clarify entire but it's all of the brain that becomes activated).
Walking and using your hands is very good for you. In this, even mundane chores such as house cleaning or any labour becomes an opportunity to stimulate charge and relax the brain. And help in depression and more than boredom.

I really needed this talk because I’m finally listening to it again and it’s going to mean I have to make some very hard choices. There were some things said though that give me the confidence that this choice is the right one.

I understand so many of the ideas but feel so held back by trauma and individuals in my life that do things that hurt my emotional state to a degree where I feel I can no longer try or do anything, like going completely reactive for the most part.
I'm hoping that sitting in this terrible state for long enough will help me to come out the other side being able to utilize this information.
Thank you so much for having this stream and I hope you two will do another in the future where we can get an update on how this information in the conversation was used to improve some aspect of Thor's life / teachings and also dig even further into these topics and ideas if possible.

I definitely believe these work but it doesn't feel like it hits the core of my issues, as I don't want to take any tiny actions because the feeling to need to avoid the negative reactions of a certain individual in my life that I have to be around.
When I think about it it doesn't make sense because even not doing anything can still get a negative reaction out of them but it doesn't feel as bad because what really hurts is when I'm trying and then get hit with the unexpected negative emotional abuse.
I think some of those things would help build up confidence and skills but I can't bring myself to want to do anything because of this negative feedback if that makes sense.

26:41 Burnout and meaning: Here's a tough one: What to do if you work in fast food or small store retail and you "know too much" about the problems that job contributes to, so it feels like a conflict of interests? Yet you aren't in a position or headspace to move on or try and find a better matching profession or job. The burnout aspect can make it difficult to have the energy to pursue the life changes necessary to change the situation.
Naturally, things like therapy or Dr. K's guides, whatever's available and seems like it might help... using resources available to step towards working on yourself could help. It can be hard to reach that point though, if you're low on energy and getting sucked into dopamine timewasters when you're free. I'd imagine many can relate.

1:05:00 I like the comparison with social media, but at the same time I feel like there's a distinction there. Because I do argue a metric ton on social media. But I also feel like I know when to pull the plug.
Like once the other party resorts to insults and not facts, there's not point. I leave. The guy just proved my point, he lost composure, he rather insult me than try to understand me. Which is also where I try to pull the plug myself. If I can't understand what is coming at me, I'll try to do research, understand what I failed to understand.
I should also say that the only times I do argue is on subjects that I already have a grasp on and try to spread knowledge on it. To at least try to minimize the wrong that the comment could bring onto someone reading it and taking it at face value. (Them eventually falling into an echo-chamber of misinformation). The goal is noble in my opinion, but I also see why it could be perceived as arrogant and detrimental if someone judges themselves too highly (from the ego... and I feel that if I keep listening we're gonna get to that point xd )

@@gamerdweebentertainment1616 The point of journaling is not to write something that's readable afterwards. The point of journaling is to process your thoughts and emotions. You can journal without ever keeping the pages that you write down, you can journal on MS Word and then immediately delete what you wrote. The important part is the focus on processing your emotions and giving yourself time to do that.
If you want to remember specific things to talk about in therapy, I'd do that in a phone app and just do a note in the style of "- talk about what happened on thursday in school".
Journaling doesn't have to be a log. I guess if you really want it to be, you can write it like that. But that's, as far as I understand journaling, not really the aim of it. You don't need to remember what you wrote, if you need to remember/bring smth specific up later, do a separate short note for that.

I find my Journaling is quite overactive however when it's Journaling to a person. This message itself I could even consider Journaling. Its just me thinking and putting some message out. How do you work "12 to 16 hours a day"?
Legitimate question. I understand that basically that is "you work for X amount of time" but my question is HOW. My energy could never let me be doing something for 15 hours a day, even less by sitting.
And then if I wanted to have a small chat with a friend or family member, or have breakfast. Or if you have to cook or clean. That takes time. Cooking something that is not a horrible pre cooked meal takes AT LEAST (including eating it at a normal healthy speed) 1 hour and a half or more. Maybe 1 if you're like super fast and don't care about doing it well. So that is 2 to 3 hours a day if you ate only lunch and dinner. Not counting other things.
Out of 24 hours, you sleep the "bare minimum" (or what is enough for you), let's say 5 hours like Thor does. You get 19 hours left. How do you spend 15 or 16 out of those 19 working, not moving basically from where you are doing whatever, EVERY DAY.
Usually these people have a lot of money. I don't mean it in the bad sense, but rather in the sense that they can put in all that work hours and comes to fruition which is great. I can't do that and could never accept the idea of waking up, working the entire day (minus 1 hour and something for the meal) and then shower maybe and go to sleep and nothing else. After the 2nd day I'd do that I'd just want to go transcend myself lmao. I don't mind doing repetitive tasks, as long as I can mix it up a bit or have a good break from it.

      @Mico-Xiyeas 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

Well 1 year ago I was terrified of working and never was gonna work and on disability, I actually never even socialize or had friends.
Then I was forced to work. I also had many dreams and goals and a really bad situation I had to get away from so in a sense I had no choice but to work. I was also homeless. But working long hours wasn't necessary itself, but definetly required to live in a sense that I could not see my self living without my goals.
Now I'm in a broader mindset that whether I achieve my goals or not doesnt matter, pursuit does. So I pursue them. Difficulty doesn't matter, achieving or failing doesn't matter, simply trying regardless of failing. Join a job, quit it later who cares. But once you're in you're just kinda in and it blends in. I didn't even want to work for 2 hours, now I started working 10-12 hours and sometimes 6-7 days a week.
Requires a strong faith and direction that what you're doing matters, everything you're doing matters and is for the better. Including when you slack, should all be considered as part of the plan.
Also health. I already learned a crap ton of health so I well off. But i find it pretty important to follow health for it to be tolerable.
Without Magnesium my first job gave me the worst pains I've ever experienced, and my feet were completely numb all day I thought I was gonna lose them. I took Magnesium and I didn't feel any pain in my body, or feet, or numbness at all. Just regular operating. It also somehow makes me less spacey and low eyed so in a sense more alert but without the actual increase in arousal. Following a solid health/vitamin regimen, having good mental clarity (learn all that from this channel) will set you up for doing anything.
The issue however is not just doing it with anything. I would do 10-12 hours, 14, 16 hours, days, weeks in a warehouse or coal mind but not in an office. Meanwhile some others can. So it's kind of a pick and choose. But again I wouldn't want to work those jobs ever to begin with even for a minute. That's very important. Decide what you'd work with to begin with.

1:09:16 So we have "self", ego, and logic/emotion as sources of motivation. Tentatively, what I see here is that these relate to different levels of self-awareness and ways of forming identity.
Maybe... if you have little identity or sense of self, logic and emotions will tug you around in short-term directions, and you likely aren't even aware of the repressed or weakly formed ego driving things umconsciously.
If the ego is stronger and more conscious and you're motivated from there, you might be more consistent and emotions and logic will be more reliably directed, but you will still be controlled by the reflexive comparison biasing your emotions and logic. You're still enslaved to your conditioned mind, traumas, and thought loops, but at least you have some consistecy. But you're still limitedly defining yourself - I am a ___.
Beyond that, if you can start to connect with and have awareness of "self", then you start to be informed by and motivated from your sense of "meaning" as Jordan Peterson frames it. Logos in his terms, I think. And then a more conscious and individual learning process can start to help you "become more who you are", and the ego, logic, and emotions get stabilized and serve that higher process. You've stepped beyond defining yourself - assumptions - into the realm of learning.
_Maybe._ Thinking out loud here. Best wishes!

I think the "third thing" should be examined as something different from want per se; though it may line up with it sometimes, there's potential for misunderstanding there. That's my impression.
There's important space here to examine the difference between "self" (essence? "being"?) and "calling" as they discuss in the video and the source of "wants".

If the goal is to rescue ferrets, by doing a good job at that “calling,” a byproduct can be things that manifest as statements of ego.
The origin of “largest ferret rescue” isn’t, “I want to create the largest ferret rescue” (ego)
The origin is rather “ferrets suffering is awful, and they need help”

He wants or rather he intuits that the universe is guiding him to realize that goal. Whether he consciously or sub-consciously understands that is not for us to decide, that's up to his connection with the universe around him. He saw a dire and present need for these little goblins to receive proper care and scientific analysis to heal them, and now the universe has provided the path to do so.

And when you think with ego, you can decide but it's unhealthy. And what is better to do is to think with this turia thingy, and use ego as a tool that is equal to logic and emotions. Ego helps you exist in society. Your name is ego. You should still use it when you go to the bank, tho. Your job is ego. It's helpful for communicating with others, though. Lastly, it can protect the body/self. For instance if someone insults you, and you have a strong sense of self, it doesn't really sway you. There are other ways to protect from those kinds of wounds, but ego is fairly pragmatic for dealing with the world.

my interpretation is that there is not a correct application of ego, but we could ask other questions: how does ego serve me? how does ego NOT serve me?

Well of course it's a grind, they're bashing their head at a wall without introspection, without learning why bashing their head against a wall is a bad idea.
