as a baseball purist, i DO love what they do. my 4 and 6 year old daughter think baseball is boring but i show them clips of the bananas and they want to go and hopefully that will grow into a love of baseball one day.
I love everything that they do! It is truly entertaining getting to see them play no matter what, love how much they interact with the crowds, so happy they exist!
You can call this guy a genius at marketing but I think he is a student of humanity. He has fun in life and just wants others to enjoy that fun in their lives and to bring every one of all types together...Outstanding! I am glad there are people like this in the world.

They have become primarily a touring team, playing both at Historic Grayson Stadium and at sites around the U.S.. Their primary opponent is the Savannah Party Animals who, unlike the Washington Generals from the Harlem Globetrotters, play to win as well and also engage in dancing and other entertainment. This year (2024) the Bananas will be playing in six Major League Baseball stadiums. I predict that those venues will be sold out (or near sold out) when the Bananas come to town. I'm not a fan of regular baseball, but I waited two years to get tickets to the Bananas when they played nearby. (When I say "nearby" it was 50 miles from where I live.) The wait was worth it. I'm wearing a Savannah Bananas t-shirt as I am writing this.
In terms of creativity, promotion and how they understand it's all about the fans who want to have a good time, the Savannah Bananas are probably one of the best baseball clubs in the US. Everything they do is admirable. Thank you for sharing this history.
My family and I recently moved back to Savannah and we've taken our daughter to 2 games. My goodness are they fun to go to. Their hijinks are hilarious. Jesse Cole is a marketing genius.

Update. They no longer play in any divisions. They now play Bananas ball year round. Doing tours all over America. If anyone is wondering why the Bananas would be wearing kilts. They wear them during St Patrick's day. St Patrick's day is a huge party in Savannah. The Parade and party will draw a million plus for the weekend. Savannah only has 147K people. But the Savannah St Patrick's day committee has a lot of experience on putting on a huge party and parade. Savannah has been moving towards a more family friendly parade. But you can still drink and party.

Savannah Georgia has a very long tradition of great baseball. So when a new team came to town we thought baseball would continue as usual. But than come to find out they would be collage level players. That was ok. Than the day came with the new name for the team. Savannah Bananas????? We thought maybe Savannah Sharks or Savannah Beach. But Savannah Bananas???!!! We thought they lost their minds. Savannah is one of the oldest cities in the Nation and we do not like change. Well it turns out that they put Savannah back on the map. After Forest Gump and the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil wore off. We needed something to put us back on the map. And you are getting to enjoy it!
I apologize, but, I’m kinda scared of the Bananas. Ok, This may get a little bit deep, when I was younger, there was a man who was trying to find our house’s location. He often hearted my mom’s posts with me and my sisters in them. Why am I scared of the Bananas? Well, he used to be the real life Savannah Bananas Mascot. I remember when we had to lock the doors and go home from school after, no going to the store or the drug store (medicine, not bad drugs). My mom would do that after she dropped us off. It was a very scary experience.
This is great! The Little league parents across the US that go bat💩 crazy for the calls refs make need to watch this. IT'S NOT THAT SERIOUS. The catcher standing while the guy on stilts at bat is hilarious.
If women's sports want women like me to watch: more this type stuff. NBA is fun because of the players being interesting. The WNBA complains but has no unproblematic and purely loveable athletes. Women like Deanna Price, Brooke Anderson, and Simone Biles show how women can be interesting and easy to root for.
