In this lesson, we want to explain working with layers in software. This is used to sort and arrange objects. You can also control the objects inside the layers. I have prepared a scene to begin with. Which includes lights and a few splines and a few objects and we want to categorize these. There are several ways. Clicking on the layer icon opens the options. The first is add to new layer, which is the easiest way, , create a new layer and put it in the layer manager.. And the next option is layer manager, which you can see here. There is a plus sign in its window, which creates a new layer by clicking on it. You can also delete it with this delete button. Do not worry, when you delete a layer, the objects inside it will not be deleted, only the layers related to them will be remove. The new layer has no object inside. There are two ways to place objects inside. First, you can easily place your desired objects (even commands) by clicking and dragging inside the new layer. And the objects get the color of the new layer and to change the color, simply double-click on the Icon to open the color selection window. The second way is to click on the layer icon in the object manager and select the desired layer
Painting layer ! This is one of the easiest ways. Hold the mouse on the desired layer and click and drag any object we want to the same layer.
To rename the layers like the rest of the software, double-click on its name. And change. remove from layer - Use to remove an object from the desired layer.
When we add a parent to a new layer, its cilds are not added to the layer. So they have to be given to the desired layers one by one.
When the desired layering was done. We can do some controls on the layers and the objects inside them. As you can see, there are letters in front of each layer that represent something.
The letter s means solo. By clicking on it, only that layer and the objects inside it will be seen in the viewport, and even the rest of the objects will disappear from the object manager.
Letter V. means visible. Clicking on it, the objects inside the layer disappear from the viewport, but inside the object manager they are still visible.
The letter R means render. Clicking on it will make the objects inside that layer disappear from the render view.
The letter m means object manager. Clicking on it will remove the objects inside the layer from the object manager.
The letter L means lock. By clicking on it, the objects inside that layer will be locked and can no longer be accessed and changed.
The letter A means animation to disable animation in objects inside the layer. For example, this cube has a simple animation. Clicking on it will not run the animation.
The letter G means generators. Clicking on it will disable all green commands known as generators, for example this extrude command. Notice that the layer is given to parent I mean extrude command not the spline.
The letter D means deformers. Clicking on it will disable all purple commands known as deformers. For example, this bend. In this case, note that the layer is given to the parent again.
The letter E means expressions. And the letter x means Xref. Which should be explained in future lessons. Not needed now.
You can even use the parent and child systems inside the layer manager. Just for sorting layers.
Layer menu in layer manager. New layer option that creates a new blank layer. new layer from object selection. Which is exactly the as before with add to new layer. And add object to layer to add the selected object and the selected layer and move the object into the layer.
Edit menu. delete, delete all, delete unused layers. To clean layers that do not contain any objects. select all, deselect all and Invert selection. When we select a layer, by selecting this option, all layers except the selected layer are selected. the select option from layer that selects the objects inside that layer for you
The view menu is to display the letters we described.
