Between the new Hover drones and DJI Neo these selfie drones have come a long way in a short time. And it's great to see the camera quality improving on the Hover X1 Pro and Pro Max. I wonder if these type of drones will really catch on with the general public, because its very easy to get good shots with them. Get video Shawn, and thanks for sharing.
Was really looking forward to using my X1 Pro over winter but after a week of use one of the propellers snapped and I've been trying to get a new once ever since. Their customer support is rubbish, its taken several emails and after a month I am no closer to having replacement blades so I just have an expensive lump of plastic now.
I have the HoverAir X1 today, and I love it! But I’d like slightly better image quality. Do you think it’s worth getting the PRO Max just for the improved image quality? I don’t think it looks that much better 🙈 What do you think, since you’ve tried both? 😊
Thank you so much for your on point honest review as always. The big question for me is noise levels. I hate the sound of the Neo and would never buy one for that reason so is the X1 pro any better or is it still a screaming banshee?
Hey Sean, it might be just me but I saw some weird artifacts on the Hover footage vs the camera footage. I double checked my internet and settings but it persisted. It might just be that the different footages are on different sets. IE 4k30 and 4k29.97 or whatever. I just thought I'd bring that to your attention. Good review! My only issues with the Hover series of drones are the price and Zero Zero... They burned me in the past and it's hard to forget.
Thanks Shawn. I have this drone but I haven’t turned it on as I’ve been reading a LOT about some earlier bugs and malfunctioning. Did you face it as well? Is now the time to start playing with it? 🤓
Indeed, when the drones first launched as a Kickstarter, there were some bugs that needed to be ironed out most of the major ones have been corrected. Right now they’re still publishing the software but it’s very stable for me. Their product update roadmap looks very interesting for new features that will be included.
very complimentary review which seems odd against all the problems the software and connection problems people are having. You must of got one of the few good ones!
There was some connection issues with the beacon. Most of that has been resolved with firmware they have released many firmer updates, addressing most of the issues and they will continue to do so
Indeed, it needs some work that’s why I didn’t include it in this video. I wanted to focus on the drone capabilities without the beacon. I’m going to save the beacon for a separate video.
The slow motion is not 120fps it's 30fps in the file so you lose quality if you need to use normal speeds. Also frigging annoying it won't remember the time and for multi camera sync a pain but the follow quality is amazing and years ahead of DJI
That is the question I have asked quite a bit. Not so easy to answer lol I’m gonna try and make a video tackling all the points of which one would be better for different types of users if it comes to video quality definitely the hover
@ HDR provides much better image quality, especially in urban low light, so blacks and whites are not washed out. But HDR mode can not do slow motion. People don’t want to watch long videos, so more often than not you speed up segments. I just find my personal taste for slow motion is that it is rather pretentious.

Good review! I have the original X1 . It’s always in my backpack and I use it a lot.

Like your videos. I have the new hover love it!
Thank you for watching!
Good review Shawn look forward to your next video on the Pro Max
Thanks
Great video, after the most recent firmware I am happy with my pro max.
Indeed. I’ve been pretty pleased as well. Looking forward to see what else they do with it.

Can you lock the exposure? Is there log color profile? Can you turn down that horrible sharpening?

The way Shawn was running on the shore, he looked like the next Mitch Buchannon (Hasselhoff) on Baywatch.
😂
Can you fly over water using manual flying on the phone app

Indeed, a little on the steep side. I will double check that about the artifacting look in a little closer.
1. killed already a propeller
2. sleep mode in the charge case does not work

@ awesome. So I guess it’s time to open mine and enjoy some flights 😊looking forward for more reviews from your channel 💪🏾

You put the drone in the case the wrong way.... line up the hover logo and the charging pins can connect. 💯
i own the Pro Max. The Beacon needs major firmware improvements!! Very Very glitchy!

Still waiting for my delivery

Very expensive drones
I rather use the HDR than the stupid slow motion.
Why are you being so hateful at slow motion? Feels like a weird thing to call stupid
@ why are you being such a pseudo psychologist?

"too expensive
Excellent video Shawn …… how does it compare to the Neo….
Definitely some differences between the two drones. Gonna make a video comparison coming up in a couple weeks.
