You not being able to get hooked by the story for the short attention span YOU have is entirely your problem. It's an amazing book. I had to force myself to put the book down so I don't end up binge reading it. I personally loved the characters and it helped me learn so much about Sri Lanka's history and it's modern day sociological environment.

That's great, but I don't think the book was for me. Not every book resonates with everyone. This book doesn't resonate with me, I have read some very slow books but loved them.
It's good that you loved it.

what you explained, i am feeling the same, and to mention specifically, i have read many philosophy books and literature books, i have held patience for 60 percent of any book which can be considered boring just to get context, but i bought this book on jan 30th and i have read just 118 pages till now, now i am skipping this book, not for me, should not have gone after it just because it won booker.

This book is engaging and devouring throughout its chapters and pages. The least suitable thing would be to call it boring. The horrors of war, injustice and terror inflicted upon civilians, prominent characters from the different tiers of society with their unique chronicles, the dark history narrated in a satire, hints of real characters which made one curious to go and search on google, queer situation of the time, and all of this spinned in a fantasy of magic realism with borrowings from mythology and philosophy. A multi genre book that is not difficult to read. If so much scope doesn't make it the opposite of boring, and so much of insight, research, and a courageous attempt to tell a compelling story makes it near to anything being questioned as worst, I doubt the review can be misleading to the larger sound audience as well as disrespectful to the author and what he has achieved.

Reviews I had given are totally my own opinion on the book. Not every book is meant for every person, so I think the book doesn't suit my attitude of reading. The author had done a tremendous job in the book. As it had got the Booker prize. But the review is based on what I felt about the book. I mean no disrespect to any author or any other reader. If you feel I have to make reviews on a neutral opinion grounds, then thank you, suggestion noted. I will try to remain neutral in opinion grounds.
let me know, what I had to improve

I think you lack in your vocabulary that's why you fell it boring, and guys don't let him ruin your expierence, I would say if you are reading books for years this is the thing you should grab it. But I would suggest you to have a dictionary while reading the book cause some words use in the conversation are just above the level and you might feel some difficulty in it. But if you want to read a book with extraordinary narrative skills and imagination you should definitely go for it.

Yaa, I lack in my vocabulary. And I used a dictionary while reading this book, at the start. But, that made my reading experience less enjoyable. I often read fiction to enjoy and get some new perspective. So I have found this book boring. And yeah the reason that you have mentioned is very true. It's the reason I often don't pick books from authors with rich vocabulary.
Although I would say Stephen King is a writer who uses wealthy vocabulary, and I also use a dictionary to know some meanings of words he uses, but in contrary, I really enjoy reading this books.
