Go Back to the Fundamentals for Tesla

  • The macroeconomic issues are really messing with the market right now. Tesla is down about 25% from the all time high. Some investors are concerned. I just wanted to remind everyone of the fundamentals, and remind you of why you invested in TSLA.
We need a reality check here, don't forget how early on in the growth stage Tesla still is, and how much more this company has to go.

You hit the nail on the head. We're spoiled by lower than historic levels interest rate that the thought of getting back to normal is somehow bad. The US is the envy of the G7 for employment. You can earn 2.05% on a 30 year treasury. That's crap when you factor inflation. Get back to equity where you have your best chances of getting ahead.

Governmental cronies often try to get away doing some wacky stuff.

Even in a recession, there is a contingent of working people whose paycheck is still coming, so buying the Tesla they're waiting for will still likely occur. using round numbers, if Tesla’s production was 1M last year, and
expected to be 2M this year, a 6 month backlog at the end of last year
equates to 500k. Loosely translated, Tesla will clear their backlog

The outlook is easy to understand: 50% - 100% annual delivery growth each year compounding for the next few years, accompanied by even higher percentage gains in net profit and free cash flow. Does anyone seriously doubt that the share price will follow? I will be perfectly happy for $TSLA shares to rise at "only" 35% per year.
Leverage has been brutal for my account balances this month, but I am a hard man and have been through it before. I plan for a net 70% CAGR with my level of leverage. As my marketing prof used to say, "It beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick."

In a bull market Teslas are CHEAP to own LOW TCO, in recessions Teslas are STILL CHEAP to own and in fact makes even more sense since in a recession we need to SAVE money. Also, all kids that check out our Tesla pretty much say the same thing to their parents - not me meaning them to do this - but they tell their parents to buy a Tesla!! It's hilarious. Kids just LOVE Tesla.....with NO marketing mind you. Also, using the 3TW hours Vs todays 70GW, assuming no increase efficiencies or increased margins, yields a share price of $$39k at 2031.

Imagine if Elon waits for VW and gm to go bankrupt, buys them both for pennies, then appoints Herbert Deiss as CEO to both on the premise that they will completely retool all of their factories to produce EVs -- maybe the $25k version -- only.

Why on Earth would Tesla want to ever buy VW? A few individual assets perhaps and certainly some key employees but why buy the company? Better to spend the money on more Tesla factories that actually work how Tesla need them to.
