    Great job. Ive had my anorak for 2years 2winters 2 springs ...... as for the mesh liner. Ive found it creates a micro layer of air and does add to heat retention (if only a very small amount of heat reantion. I think it prevents any kind of thermal bridge from happenin between the Duracanvas and your body. Brillient piece of kit. Im in southern ontario in Canada. I wear my pilgrram year round.

  • @DarkFire515
    @DarkFire515 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Something I've found with the mesh liner is that it not only provides a little bit of insulation but it also wicks quite well, which makes the anorak a real 3 or even 3.5 season outer layer. Tech wash also works a treat with the anorak. Doesn't make it waterproof but it will let it shrug off a shower.

    Best of the bush craft range
    Generous in size
    Down side not good for squally irish weather.but love the jkt .
    Woodsman and mistral same pity they are not designed for more temperate climate.
    Would love if they did and call it the hibernia range.
    Great products keep on working and innovating.....

    Just brought a 3XL as I have a 54 inch Chest. I like the build quality and materials used but the measurements showed that it should be about 58 inches. Doesn't feel like that at all and is very tight. Dunno if its just that my jacket was built slightly off of what, because I also own a Blizzard Jacket and that feels a hell of a lot bigger.

    • @MoorlanderEDC
      @MoorlanderEDC  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've found there's a few discrepancies with sizing from Helikon. I have the Blizzard which feels large. I just picked up the Trooper v2 which is essentially the same jacket and the sizes are different

    So, how do you compare the Pilgrim and the Woodsman? If you had to get rid one, which one would you keep? I'm not thinking Insulation (that's your Woolies job) : Breathability; Toughness; Storm Resistance; Quietness...

    • @JamesMears76
      @JamesMears76 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have the Woodsman and the zips that go right up the sides are annoying, they keep unzipping so I think I am going to swap for a Pilgrim

    • @MoorlanderEDC
      @MoorlanderEDC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi RB. It's a hard answer as it's tricky. If I had to chose at this point I'd chose the Woodsman, however that's because I know it better as it's the one I've had the longest, however I think I'd be able to answer this better come March/April. I'm 100% going to do a follow up on this jacket. I hope that helps. James is right below though... The larger longer side zips on the Woodsman are very annoying and frustrating when you're taking it on and off

    I’m looking to order one of these soon, I’m about the same height and weight. Is it LG in European sizes or US sizes?? I like the way it fits on you and don’t want it to be massive because I usually wear an XL in US sizes. I’m looking at the XXL European size because it supposedly fits like a US XL.

  • @Pantbeard2036

    Evenin. Would be interested to know your favourite between the Woodsman and the Pilgrim, and why?

    • @MoorlanderEDC
      @MoorlanderEDC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmmmmm... you may have got me on that one fella. My head says the Woodsman... only because I've had it for some long and I've put it through a lot. In the design it's a far simple anorak and that plays to it's strengths. The super long side zippers do my nut in though. When it's on they're fine, but can come open with your putting it on and off. However, I think the Pilgrim has way more potential as a single garment solution for more seasons. Having worn this in the summer it does get hotter than the Woodsman, however you can manage the heat so much better with all of the pockets and armpits open. Plus in the colder months there may not need to be the need for an insulation layer underneath (I generally am quite warm blooded). It's a hard one really fella. I'm definitely going to do a follow up this one as that autumn/winter period will help to answer this with more confidence. There's also the Mistral too. I've spoken with Mil 1st and I have some shorts on the way, however I might ask about the Mistral next

      Hi Robert, yes sorry I forgot to update 😂 it's currently not coated so that you're able to add your own if you wanted to at a later date. As long as you follow the washing instructions you should be good to go 👍 are you thinking of adding a protection coat?

    • @robertwestermeier7301
      @robertwestermeier7301 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Helikon answered this morning that it is dwr coated. I would use spay impregnation and no wax because of the breathability.

    • @landotter

    Helikon sizing tends to be quite American. I'm 6' & 73 kg and wear Small trousers & shirts.

    • @kniter
      @kniter 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah, they actually have dual sizing on certain items, so an item can be US L/Eu M. This can cause some confusion and issues when buying, some times sellers will list the incorrect size for the region. But I found that an Eu large corresponded well to my size in europe

    So had mine for around 5 months now. Not really impressed. Not as durable as I had imagined and a fair amount of stiching has come undone and the material is suprisingly easy to rip and doesn't stitch back up to well. I like the look of it and the way the pockets are set up, but got an Olive SAS smock off ebay from GS surplus with an MVP lining for 69 quid and it's miles better and has been more durable.

      Hi. Out of the box it's not waterproof... However if you wanted to Nik Wax it or add an old school wax proofing to it (highly recommend the Fjallraven wax) you can do. The options are there. Hope that helps
