Camillus made nice things... now I think it is made in China... I have an old Camillus very nice... Nice work, you just clean and respect the original finish... Great work. Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina
Those are awesome blades. I have this exact 4 line knife with Brass Liners, picked it up at an estate sale for $5. It was the 2nd TH-cam video i ever uploaded. Thanks for sharing!!!
Every time I see one of these knives I am tempted to buy it! What's not to love; bone handles, WWII history, etc. Can't argue with the $5 deal! Thanks for watching...
After WW2 our high school received a surplus mobile machine shop fully equipped, also enclosed were a number of complete toolboxes and about 5 large cartons of these knives , I still have mine in fact.
For a ww2 era knife even in the uncleaned condition that would be on sale over here for between £50-£100 in the UK! Great find and good job cleaning it up 👍
The best way to clean all the rust off of anything that's rusted like that is to soak it overnight in distilled vinegar. I do this all the time and it really works. It needs to be submerged in the vinegar. when it comes out it will have like a black residue on it just rinse it well in cold water and then use the fine steel wool and you will be amazed. don't put any oil on until it has finished soaking. Hope this helps.
Just found my grandfather's. Identical knife. His hit the beaches of Salerno and Normandy as well as in North Africa. There might be dried blood in it. Don't know if I want to clean or leave. Thanks for the vid.
Cool. I have one almost exactly like that, but with a smaller round emblem saying "USMC" (US Marine Corps i guess). And it has another blade instead of a cup opener. One Liner is broken and the metal flats are damaged on one side, as if a wielder smashed it against something hard. Just soaked it in WD40.
Looks good. I haven't tried that exactly but I will. Depends on the knife. I've collected fish knives over the years. Any maker, almost always cheap at a flea market. Some of them I have have employed Dremel with various brush attachments.
Thanks for watching! Yes, I agree it totally depends on the condition of the knife and also the look you are going for. I like to start out with this lighter approach and go from there…
I think you did a great job just cleaning without taking the knife apart and without using aggressive tools. Prestige items deserve to be left as much as possible as they originally were

@@OSUCharger very cool! If you do clean it take a few pictures to remember the original condition.
@@oldpocketknives168 great point. It's up next to his purple hearts right now.
I was wondering what you did to the blade well? I cleaned up my old scout knife, it is now a favorite!
I soaked in oil and then used fine steel wool to remove the rust. Thanks for watching!
Nice work! I have an old equal end Camillus cattleman pattern whose bone looks quite similar to that. Very nice knife, mine also lacks the brass.
Thank you!! These knives are fun to collect as they have lots of history and there are lots of little variations to find from knife to knife.
Great job.....very informative!!!
Thank you!

They are pretty cool knives... lots of little variations. How did the WD40 work?
Wonderful job mate. now put that knife to work' That'll last a lifetime. Cheers.👌
For sure! Can't beat the old stuff for quality.
Turned out good nice video
Thank you. It doesn’t take much to really improve the look!

@@oldpocketknives168 I have the most problem with liners. Patience ever present.
Que oesimo trabajo le falta muchisimo trabajo para dejarla como debe ser

Thank you! I like to leave some "age" on the knife.
i think i have one of these.
Very cool...let me know what you find.
I'd call that cleaning. not restoration. Restoration implies restoring to like new condition.
Preservation not restoration, each to their own.
Inside still full of rust.
So are you.
Restoring?
yes, more like a good cleaning... I get it.
