We’re not quipped to be worshipped but when you’re well known and you’re worshipped and you’ve got all kinds of people just…Constantly in their own way, I know not literally, bowing down before you, that’s, that’s not healthy for your soul"
Even when people stop their religious worship, they have a primal drive to maintain community, a fight against an opposing force, and a spiritual energy.
When you worship or give utmost importance to something, it’s as if it is your “god.” Whether that be a supreme omnipotent deity, a person, or a material object or desire such as money or fame.
I'm here because I recently spent alot of money buying songs and albums for some singers. I mean they are millionaires and I dont make much myself 😶 I caught myself and then looked up celebrity worship syndrome
Lol. They are multi-millionaires. You must at most be what? a millionaire. And they seek those dollars for their albums and concert tickets from thousands like you. Music apps paying them separately. And you decide to give your hard earnt money happily to them, because guess what? They are your favourite musicians, everyone loves them, they are cool, they deserve it, they treat their fans so well, they are kind (on camera) and what not. One of the biggest curses on this planet is being delusional to believe your idols truly love their fans, when you're just a source of income adding up to multi-millionaire networth for them. Everyone loves their income source. So do musicians and actors.
When you’re friends with the popular or cool person, you can open doors for you. I think somehow or another this is built into our genetics, I believe that’s why it feels good to be apart Of the “in” crowd.
Politicians ARE celebrities though. We've literally had so many actors serve political positions and a reality TV star as the current president. So... I'm pretty sure telling any citizen to stay out of politics is kind of a moot point.
Celebrities can also be US citizens and voters so they're allowed to say whatever they want. It's up to the individual to be smart enough to make their own opinion and not just blindly follow whatever a celebrity says.
Have you ever seen the old clips of people (women mostly) reacting to Elvis or Michael Jackson. There’s video of people passing out in hysteria in the concerts. Hard to process this bizarre phenomenon.
@𝙰𝚛𝚒𝚏𝚞𝚖𝚒 the thing is E was actually a helluva singer while Jacko was mostly hype/auto tuned...one guy was even witness to people being hired to cheer when Jacko turned up , while E generated actual excitement
The thing that I don’t understand is when and why actors, athletes, and musicians etc all became worth so much money. From the 19th century to the 20th century its insane. To play music, or to play a game, or to play pretend you’re compensated with millions and millions of dollars. When did they become so important to everyday society ?

As a former church goer I can tell you that I know first hand pop culture holds sway over what a preacher says. Until that pastoral group flexes real hard. In the 90’s there was a strong Christian youth movement that was based in punk, hardcore and straightedge life. The churches LOVED the influx of “new blood” What they didn’t love was the appearance of the lifestyle and many churches sought to squash that verve right out. Which basically either caused the new ones to comply or leave, most left. Religion just isn’t genuine life, even though they all seem to be teaching how to live their version of a genuine life. To quote a Clutch song “A khalif, rabbi and a bishop Walk into a bar One says to the others Hey now brother, we haven’t gotten very far” I wouldn’t say I’m an atheist because I do believe in a higher power But I don’t know which one Or ones It is. So I’m still lookin. #phrasecheeses
Love when people say they learn more from sinning along with sinners then learning from the Bible(from a preacher) That’s some high self esteem to believe you know what’s better for learning then these religions who have studied they’re beliefs for centuries
I detest celebrities across the board. The only two I have any respect for at all are Keanu Reeves and Dolly Parton. They give so much of their wealth away for good causes and never talk about their politics.
If you don’t have true values in your life, you distract yourself with other things. Worship celebrities, materialistic things, drugs etc. Truly a sad existence
While discussing the connections between religion, popular culture, and moral values, Joe’s guest says that “Pop culture is much more of an important teacher of ideas and values than, say, the local preacher. Because people are more swayed by it. It has more of an impact and resonance.” To which Joe replies “It’s a dangerous way to sway things, coming from someone who’s involved in distributing popular culture. Because there’s so little thought put into the actual impact.” As a man who wields his personal influence on his audience so carelessly, this could be one of the least self aware statements that Joe has ever made on his show.

@@charliesteel8750 for me and my religion (islam and aslo for other monotheist religions) it's a bad thing....only one has the right to be worshipped, the one and only supreme almighty Allah......All knowing
@@atifkhateeb6957 oh K I read the quote as meaning if you can choose not to believe in God you have the ability to be open minded about many different possibilities and not just rooted in a dogmatic culture bound concept of reality. I personally lean more towards a Hindu belief system rather than one derived from Judaism. I'll probably change my mind though if I see better evidence 😉
@@charliesteel8750 sanatan dharma is also monotheistic in principle
"Humanity is not hardwired to bear the crushing weight of deity. We’re not quipped to be worshipped but when you’re well known and you’re worshipped and you’ve got all kinds of people just…Constantly in their own way, I know not literally, bowing down before you, that’s, that’s not healthy for your soul"
who said that.
Joe’s point of view made me laugh so hard😂 such a good explanation for celebrity worshiping
society has moved past the need for celebrities
I don't think so
@Celcus Over Plato What good have celebrities' done?
This never gonna happen
This is the most false statement I’ve ever heard of in a while.
sadly not but any sane person has
Even when people stop their religious worship, they have a primal drive to maintain community, a fight against an opposing force, and a spiritual energy.
When you worship or give utmost importance to something, it’s as if it is your “god.” Whether that be a supreme omnipotent deity, a person, or a material object or desire such as money or fame.
Celebrity is an extension of popularity (and most people wanted to feel popular or associate with popular folk).
Reminds me of the North Korean documentary called "Propoganda"
@Ahmed N wasn't it actually made by an australian?
@President Camacho Propaganda isn’t so globally successful because of stupidity.
I'm here because I recently spent alot of money buying songs and albums for some singers. I mean they are millionaires and I dont make much myself 😶 I caught myself and then looked up celebrity worship syndrome
Get out of it. It's not worth it. They only promote their own brands and companies. They're being smart. It's time we should too
I know this is off topic but the new Podcast studio is absolutely horrible.
Hes gonna change it
When you’re friends with the popular or cool person, you can open doors for you. I think somehow or another this is built into our genetics, I believe that’s why it feels good to be apart Of the “in” crowd.
I never clicked so fast because I thought George Lucas was the guest
Celebrities need to stay out of politics!
Politicians ARE celebrities though. We've literally had so many actors serve political positions and a reality TV star as the current president. So... I'm pretty sure telling any citizen to stay out of politics is kind of a moot point.
Why? They can do whatever they want
Just like u and me
Celebrities can also be US citizens and voters so they're allowed to say whatever they want.
When the Celebrity was able to reach millions or even billions of people from radio TV movie concerts etc
We value entertainment a lot
He’s very soft spoken, I had a hard time listening to today’s podcast was falling asleep . Nothing bothers me that hippy mans voice soothing
Famous people have always made me uncomfortable...best to just ignore them.
You'll never get the Jordan Peterson fanboys to admit this.
"When somebody, who is a celebrity dies, you shouldn't feel bad about feeling terrible about it.
They're a part of your life, they're somebody you spent time with, they're somebody you welcomed into your home." - Ben Shapiro
So he was about to explain why worshipping celebrities is like religion but Joe felt his thoughts were more valuable and had to explain his tribal theory and... the question was not answered. Damn, I hate it when I don’t hear the guest’s thoughts, he’s the interviewee.
I'm a non believer in Celebrity Worship
It’s about time someone with a real audience has coveted this.
I love how curious about religion and God Joe Rogaine is...
One day Rogibear will be a believer, I just know it.
Rogibear 💕😂
jc he will one day be brought to his knees and declare Jesus is God. One way or the other. Only joke is on him. It’s sad.
Damnit I thought that was George Lucas when I clicked. Oh well
Joe Rogan is a celebrity.
Some people worship Joe Rogan.
Let's celebrate the successes of these celebs without worshipping them and invest our admiration in more meaningful pursuits!
I’ve been saying celebrity worship for many years.
Duncan Trussell has really changed
As a former church goer I can tell you that I know first hand pop culture holds sway over what a preacher says.
Until that pastoral group flexes real hard.
In the 90’s there was a strong Christian youth movement that was based in punk, hardcore and straightedge life.
The churches LOVED the influx of “new blood”
What they didn’t love was the appearance of the lifestyle and many churches sought to squash that verve right out.
Which basically either caused the new ones to comply or leave, most left.
Religion just isn’t genuine life, even though they all seem to be teaching how to live their version of a genuine life.
To quote a Clutch song
“A khalif, rabbi and a bishop
Walk into a bar
One says to the others
Hey now brother, we haven’t gotten very far”
I wouldn’t say I’m an atheist because I do believe in a higher power
But I don’t know which one
Or ones
It is.
So I’m still lookin.
#phrasecheeses
I always assumed they call them idols to mock us.
Joe it’s not entertainment or beautiful distractions. It’s LESSONS . But your ABSOLUTELY CORRECT about how people start to worship the PERSON
there's even more of a religious fundamentalist quality on either extreme of the culture wars whether it be ultra wokeness or any of the far rights
Love when people say they learn more from sinning along with sinners then learning from the Bible(from a preacher)
That’s some high self esteem to believe you know what’s better for learning then these religions who have studied they’re beliefs for centuries
Background is bloody awful. Less space-age and more normality please Joe.
Thought I was the only one...it was cool at first now it’s just ehh, too much red
Take the red pill.
Its a temporary studio. Until he gets his new one fixed up. My guess is it will be at his comedy club when it opens

Joe describing Brad Pitt worship is hilarious, because he is describing his own cult of celebrity.😂🤣😂
That's what i was thinking. Joe would probably deny it but he has a cult like following of people that jump on any outsider that criticizes Joe.
People worship pop singer more than actors
I've always hated celebrities, every one of them, even Joe.

Celebrity worship and politician worship is gross
I detest celebrities across the board. The only two I have any respect for at all are Keanu Reeves and Dolly Parton. They give so much of their wealth away for good causes and never talk about their politics.
When it feels like a party every-day Hay Jessay! Hay Jessay!
Don’t forget government/statist worship. Every single element of religion is tied into our political system.
Humans naturally have to worship something or someone.
JESUS. ONLY HIM
I will truly never understand following and the fascination some people have with celebrities whether it be athletes or actors, and so on. I’m just trying to enjoy what they do aka watch a game/fight or enjoy characters actors portray in a movie/series.
It's the beauty, the glamour, the admiration, the power they have. I keep imagining my life would be more interesting if I were more beautiful.
Reject the cult of celebrity!
Celebrity Obsessions = Hijacking Physiological Reward Systems = Religious Obsessions....
Six in one hand, half a dozen in the other. All similar stuff, just pick the one(s) that fit into your life and make you happiest.

And Joe Rogan mate. Do not fool yourself.
celebrity worship is weird asf
Shirk in Islam is NOT limited to idols or others Gods. Shirk can take the form of one worshipping Hawaa (their own desires) , Riya (showing off) , or anything one is obsessed with in this world that dictates their life
I really wanted to learn about this guys ideas and get his point of view but he really didn’t say anything...?
Idol worship is all over the place
All actors are hypocrites. They act like someone they are not.
That's there Job lol
