And finally, once again, Patrasche proves she is best girl.

This is why Garfiel knows what happened to his mom and that is actually what happened to her. This is also why the events in Subaru’s second trial were most likely what would have happened after he died in those loops
Oh and that cracking was his Gate, he's completely overworked his Gate and broken it, having it collapse in on itself - it was what Felix was warning about last season - Shamac was his last spell cast by his Mana.
I'm happy cuz they prevented cliff-kun from coming... I mean this is a best part and they not only remove the intro and outro but also extending it for almost 30min.. this company need a respect.. downside is the become strict to TH-camrs who explaining the story
for any who want to know, the crystal that both Garf and Fred have are a form of Mana collection stone that's primarily used as a Spirit Medium - it's a flawed and imperfect version of the type that Emilia had for Puck - and when Subaru stabbed Garfiel with it, it sucked up his Mana and forced his transformed state to return to his Human state. don't go further if you don't want spoilers for later in the season guys. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . And it's also the reason why Puck can temporarily use it as a hiding place to trick Roswaal, he's using the Mana stored up from Garf here in this scene to sustain him and why he can grow bigger.
What this and last episode didn't show was just how much internal damage Subaru was experiencing now that he could no longer be in the building, as he no longer had Echidna's permission to take the trial. Thankfully his gate is smaller than Roswaal, so he didn't take nearly as much as the clown man. It's crazy that Subaru had taken all that damage while talking to Emilia, and writing everything on the wall, and was still willing to fight Garfiel too.
