I’m a minority Syrian, and while the majority in Syria is %100 happy with the new regime, with us the minorities, it’s a different Story. Don’t get me wrong, we are more than happy that we got rid of Bashar, he was a monster to everyone, even his own minority group. But we also can’t really forget the elephant in the room that is the history of the new regime, to their credit, up to this point they seem to be trying their best to distance themselves from the past and reassure everyone that they will be safe, but as many have said, that was also the case in Afghanistan, so we are still uncertain what will happen, those who can flee the country already did, and those who can’t, are just hoping things won’t go south because they simply have no where to go

Even after a successful revolution it will take generations to change the cultural and social habits of a civilization. When the familiar situation changes, with all of its advantages and defaults, it creates chaos which leads to irrational behavior. It’ll take a considerable amount of time and energy to establish an amicable balance.

"This is the goals and aspirations of the Syrian people," is in many ways a pretty naive thing to say. The Syrian people are not one group but many different groups with different goals and aspirations, many of which are likely in conflict with the goals and aspirations of others.
The new government will not be created by people across the country locking hands and singing a song, it will be formed by whomever has political skill and the military force to back it.
I hope that the new government will be democratic (a pipe dream), but at the very least I hope that the new leadership will be able to bring stability back to the country so that people can resume their lives.

All those lost Syrian lives only for a Theocratic government (not much different from Assad) to take over. For the Syrian people to truly enjoy their new found freedom, government should be secular, that way people who have differing views and different status will have protected rights.
