Don’t get me wrong, we are more than happy that we got rid of Bashar, he was a monster to everyone, even his own minority group. But we also can’t really forget the elephant in the room that is the history of the new regime, to their credit, up to this point they seem to be trying their best to distance themselves from the past and reassure everyone that they will be safe, but as many have said, that was also the case in Afghanistan, so we are still uncertain what will happen, those who can flee the country already did, and those who can’t, are just hoping things won’t go south because they simply have no where to go

The Syrian people are not one group but many different groups with different goals and aspirations, many of which are likely in conflict with the goals and aspirations of others. The new government will not be created by people across the country locking hands and singing a song, it will be formed by whomever has political skill and the military force to back it. I hope that the new government will be democratic (a pipe dream), but at the very least I hope that the new leadership will be able to bring stability back to the country so that people can resume their lives.

هذا النمط مستمر في العالم العربي منذ 1400 عام.
السؤال الحقيقي الذي يجب أن نطرحه هو التالي: الآن بعد رحيل الديكتاتور، هل ستصبح سوريا دولة ديمقراطية عادلة لجميع مواطنيها؟ هل ستكون على استعداد للسماح بقيادة من أي من مواطنيها، بغض النظر عن ديانتهم أو انتمائهم السياسي أو القبلي؟ وهل ستتاح للأقليات في سوريا فرصة متساوية للوصول إلى منصب رئيس الجمهورية وقيادة البلاد نحو القرن الحادي والعشرين، مع تبني التكنولوجيا والتحديث؟
أي إجابة غير ذلك ليست سوى ظهور ديكتاتور إسلامي آخر-أشد جوعًا من الذي سبقه.
