When you listen to this beautiful ballad and compare it to , say , " Zen " it just reinforces both how versatile and insanely talented this band actually is . There can be few other bands around today that can cover such a broad spectrum of genres and carry it off so successfully . They deserve FAR more international recognition than they currently receive - but hopefully that will change soon
This is the opening song for a new Japanese movie. The band generally has one ballad per record and Odyssey is the latest. I quite liked it. Mayu’s vocals and Saki’s and Hazuki’s guitar work are my initial go to for liking the track. Odyssey was written by a successful Japanese songwriter for the movie.
Just a beautiful song by this great band !.. please check out Raitei, Adabana, Sieze the Fate, Oiran..the last two are at their recent live (with an audience) show..
Guitarist Saki (Right Channel) posted she was pulling out her inner Brian May. She solos throughout song in the background. Hazuki (Left channel) does the main solo of the song. As other said, it's for a popular animated movie coming out Oshiri Tantei which translate to "Butt Detective" because the character head looks Iike a butt lol.
Hi Brian?? Question. Do you always over think on your reactions?? You turned yourself into a pretzel trying to classify where *"Odyssey"* fits. First of all the song is a pop power ballad. Nothing metal about it. It's no different than their power ballad song *"Life"* which you reacted to. Another power ballad they done is *"Now I Here"* (you have not reacted to). Saki (guitarist) also did a very power ballad with her former metal band *"Mary's Blood"* called *"Precious Love".* Both (Now I Here & Precious Love) available on TH-cam with a live version. Both are very good. *"Odyssey"* was written by the bands music writer Kensuke Akiyama & lyrics by Mayu (same as *"Life").* It's for a Japanese anime movie that premieres March 20th. Main character's name is Detective Butt. Sooooooooooo. Nemophila made a point that's clear. They will not be typecast into a pacific genre.
Hi, I have never been asked if I over think anything, however I do like pretzels. I mention several times that I have been surprised, in my very limited experience listening to the band, on several videos. This song/video was very different then the previously I had done. When it comes to genre naming, I do that for my own reference and mostly thinking out loud.
"Odyssey" music and lyrics written by Ryosuke Imai (who's worked in various genres including J-Pop, hip hop, R&B), not by Akiyama and Mayu. Imai is an acquaintance of Akiyama.
I guess this is a song that won't be on any tour set list. It simply wouldn't fit the vibe. I mused whether this was a paid for track and now I read it's for an opening of a film so isn't indicative of direction musically. Tbh I'm not a fan.
@@ChrisPage68 It's an 'obnoxious implication' because it's not a view you share? Really? I like Nemophila but not this particular song. I don't know what else to say.

Same here, someone mentioned it’s a song for a movie written by some else.
@@GuitarSoloReactions -Film- Anime named Butt Detective 🤣I guess the money was right.
If you were a fan, you wouldn't make such an obnoxious implication. They didn't just do it for the money - Mayu is singing to her child!
I wouldn't bet against it being in their live set list either.
