"WE ARE" "BABYMETAL" - yes, you got it, it is how they end their shows - and they don't mean just them, they mean everybody there. They had originally been booked to play a small side stage or tent with maybe a couple of thousand in the audience, but they were creating a buzz and getting some interest on line after the 'Gimme Chocolate' video went viral, so the organisers (giving them a couple of months notice) bumped them up to open the main stage on the Saturday ... not normally a busy time at Sonisphere. There were rumours of some in the crowd being prepared to boo (or worse, bottle) them off stage as a "gimmick or joke band mocking metal". The girls were worried about that, then from backstage they couldn't see the crowd and worried nobody had come to see them at all and what they should do in that case. They only saw the size of the crowd when they did walk out on stage. They saw the puzzled looks on most of the faces, Su is reported as saying she was thinking to herself "This will be fun" (she was still only 16 and her first time in the UK, first big show in the west and didn't even speak the language). Moa's headset failed and she missed the cue for the start of the choreo ... she picked it up quickly though - and they opened with 'BABYMETAL Death', which surprised the crowd (try that one for your next reaction - from Legend 1997 again). As they played each song the smiles and jumping etc spread from the front to the back of the crowd and they ended with this song and, as you heard, the crowd calling for "one more song" 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' (ee-ji-meh dah-meh zet-tie .... call it IDZ, nearly everybody else does) means 'Bullying, No More, Forever' so the choreo and fighting reflect what the song is about. Yes, as you saw Yui's skirt caught on her studded wrist band and tore - she never missed a beat.

My favorite part of 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' is still the part where Su-metal threatens to kick Yui and Moa in the head if they don't stop bullying each other. And their anti-bullying song gets some of the biggest mosh pits. : )

Once I heard BabyMetal I knew my daughter (5 at the time) would love it and we just went together to see them live in 2019. Great show, great band, great message....even if you don't understand the words, the feeling comes through in the vocals. The name of the song translates to 'Bullying, No, Never'. It says something powerful in the lyrics like 'when someone gets bullied, its not just the person getting bullied that suffers, its the person doing the bullying AND everyone watching and doing nothing about it.' First of all, 15-year-old girls who were active as idols in this crowd of big men formed a band unit to promote adults and were thrown on stage with only a little knowledge. Please remember. I want you to praise the fact that the song started and finished with only a few fans. I can't imagine how scary it was. They are really brave and professional.
This gig (you can find a fancam in the depths of YT) literally was a make-or-break moment for the band. From unknown to (kind of) superstars in only 40 minutes. And the following success in Europe (and later the States) even backlashed to Japan.
So another part of the BabyMetal lore was added to the Legend ( which they are) since this appearance they have played to sell out shows and well received at festival's across the world . They have had sell out shows and appeared at a festival every year in the UK since this Sonisphere appearance ( although 2015 Download appearance was unofficial) The organisers of Download said they would never play there . Dragon Force invited them to have a look around as they had a show later in the week in London . So they turned up in full costume word got round .Dragon Forces marque got swarmed by fans . I'm always amazed how well the guitarists are harmonizing and how clear the guitars sound in their live shows. I think I have never heard a clearer sound coming from two guitars.
oh finally ijime dame zettai is one of my favorite songs both for its lyrics and for its choreography and instruments everything sounds great although I like the concerts at night by the magic this with its lights and such but still I love that good you like me it's great to see new people surprising each time more with this great band
