Using this much product not only shortens the life span of your clothes, but it's toxic for the environment, expensive and causes mildew in your clothes. You need only 1 detergent. Use 2 tablespoons of vinegar for softener. In a high efficiency washer like yours, you only need 2 teaspoons of detergent for one wash. If you have hard water, add a tablespoon of bicarbonate soda to the drum. Trust me, your clothes, waterways, wallet and machine will thank you. Work smarter not harder.

Vinegar corrodes and blackens the metal parts and the gaskets don't use ingredients or things not studied for the washing machines The fact the ingredients you say are natural it doesn't mean they can be used. the new washing machines use really few water compared to the old ones and you don't even know how many grams you can use obviously. I use vinegar for softener and unscented detergent because strong scents give me headaches now. My family use gain and we have to air out the laundry room after they do their weekend washes before I can go into it without a headache. Vinegar is a really efficient softener *but* it won't help with resisting water absorption the way commercial softener will. It just acts very differently to commercial softener. I was my clothes about the average frequency, and can wear a shirt 1-3 times before rewashing depending on the season and my activity level. If I want them to have a light scent, I spray them with a lightly scented room spray or perfume that I know won't cause me issues. It was weird to switch at first but helped me a lot. That being said, honestly if you're happy with how your clothes are washed, who cares? (But OP is right about HE, and if you want to experiment with using less detergent than you normally would and see if you're still happy with the results, I suggest it. Worst case you're not, best case you are and save some money on detergent)
As a water softener I use sodium carbonate as I get heavy mineral buildup (washing soda) that I pre dilute so there is no chance for powder building up. My husband was swearing that his clothes weren't comfortable unless he had fabric softeners on them. I stopped adding any and he hasn't seen the difference. I just dry our clothes at a lower heat setting and they don't get rigid. Ppl forget the mechanical process of cleaning. The movement of the clothes rubbed together in water is 90% of how it works.

I never understood throwing the cap in. Fabric Softener goes in the drawer because it has to be released later. Its literally conditioner, you have to let the detergent("shampoo") do its job first. Also throwing the plastic cap with sharp-ish edges in is a good way to get snags and tears.
I remember the good ol’ days when all we used was detergent, and no scent boosters to mask the musty smells from high efficiency washers. Oh and the cardboard-like sun dried towels. 😆

I know there are the plastic balls you fill with Softner and throw in the wash just wondering what the benefit is here, is it just a way to wash it because there's no sink near by? That's terrible for your washer. It doesn't dissolve like you think it does. It just melts down as it's wax with fragrance on it. The smell is out onto the fabric, the wax is left behind. And builds up. And gets nasty and ruins everything. Just saying. You don't need to do that, it's making everything smell bad faster and you then "need to use more." Nope.
You can't use more environmentally harmful products to wash your clothes. Use environmentally friendly detergents, instead of these "laundry perfumes" you can use 5-10 drops of essential oil and instead of fabric softener just take some pure vinegar and put it in the softener compartment (you won't smell it anymore after the laundry has dried).
She can use whatever products she wants. It's none of anyone's business or place to tell her what products she should or shouldn't use. What gives with people trying to dictate to others how they should live?

Samsung washers are the worst front loader. My parents have had them for 25+years..... Never last for more than 3-5 years wo needing major repairs. They're plastic parts inside to cut costs but they just don't last....

I love the esthétique and the quality of your organizational skills. It's beautiful and reduces clutter/visual clutter. But overdoing it with fabric softeners is proved to be damaging to both your appliances but also to the fabric of your clothes and linens. I know from experience now, less is more. Fabric detergent by itself needs the minimal amount especially in frontal machines, the drum movement does the mechanical cleaning . I add sodium carbonate (the main ingredient of Oxiclean) to my dirtier laundry, no fabric softeners and to whiten and boost colors I'll sometimes add hydrogen peroxide to the sodium carbonate (the second ingredient in Oxi and it's color safe) . Try is! And maybe look up washer and dryer servicing videos. You'll surely find how dirty and clogged and affected they are for overuse of products and how you end up wearing dirty clothes when you thought you We're extra clean. Have a great day!
