Yes they will have them Jim, and sorry that is my fault for not mentioning it. all Hagon shocks are custom built for each customer. to that end give them a ring, they will ask a few questions about your weight riding practices, whether you carry a pillion,/ luggage etc and will assemble the shocks to suit! i shall pin your comment for all to see sir, very valid point!
Did the same mod to a BMW R80 any years ago progressive fork springs and remote reservoir rear shock it transformed the bike. From the point of view of safety as well as riding satisfaction it would be number 1 on the list of mods for me. Great videos I look forward every week to you posting this series.
This video should be on the Calm App because I can just fall asleep to this guy’s voice talking about shocks. Also picking up some nitro shocks. Thanks.
I've been binging on Stuarts vids for the last few days. there do seem to be a lot of people recently complaining about his voice. It is explained on his about section on the main channel page.
Hey Stuart, Another informative and stylish video sir. Just to add weight to your argument (and you'll already know all this) but I have fitted the Hagon Performance Springs to the front end of my T120 and oh my goodness what a difference. It feels like a new bike with incredible connectivity to the road and as you quite rightly say...confidence inspiring. Thanks again for the great Friday night viewing. Have a corking weekend sir.
I have to admit Paul these Hagons put the tec springs (although a huge improvement) to shame! i may have to revisit that at some time in the future! thank you for watching, ride safely!
Loved the video. Been gone so just catching up and as usual learned something valuable and useful. I'll be looking for the Silkolene FS5 for my next change this fall. I've made the same mods to my Bonny a few months ago, but using TEC parts (my budget is a bit constrained). However, the greatest change came when I added YSS emulators a month later. Then I truly rode with that smile as you now have!
Great review Stuart, have used Hagon components on a variety of bikes in the past and must say they offer superb value for money. As you quite righty say this is the best performance mod you can make in improving the way a bike feels.... You can,t beat that lovely connected to the tarmac feel. I would heartedly recommend a visit to their shop down in my old home county of Essex, where they have some lovely old machines on display including Alf,s old record breaking sprint machine. Have a great weekend mate.
The front and rear shock upgrade is the best thing you can do on these bikes, I went with Wilber’s, and they transformed the bike. Replacing the OEM Rubber was the next thing to change the handling for the better. Your explanation on the fork oil is very interesting, especially as I had used the same make and type.
I installed Hagon Nitros on my T100 well over 80,000 kilometers ago and they have lasted well. agree with stuart, feel stiff when just commuting around but on fast bendy roads with bumpy surfaces or just going along at 80 kph or more the rear wheel stays planted. as far as fork oil, Castrol with 5, 10 and 15 have the ISO corresponding viscosities in centistokes in fine print on the back of the bottle, (at least here in Australia anyway) being a standardised measure of oil weights. knowing that I use the equivalent hydraulic oil such as Bartran super clean in the ISO viscosity equivalent. heaps cheaper than fork oil, which incidently is re-branded hydraulic oil.
I once knew a fellow that built Bonneville choppers. He would coat the insides of his down pipes with axel grease and they would not turn blue from heat. Thought you might like to know.
Great video thanks so much I have a 2011 t100 efi air cooled 865 cc and when I got it used it had terrible china no name rear shocks that were set so wrong anyways after adjusting them i still was terribly unhappy with suspension So I purchased rear progressive 13.5inch 412 shocks for about 290$ USA $ and installed them and immediately what a difference I have them set to #4 on adjustment and so far so good still can go up to #5 if i need to so anyways I now Im going to do the front end with progressive springs I believe this bike will change drastically with new fork springs !!!!!!! Right now it rides nice but u can still feel something is missing actually had to hit front brake pretty hard last night on a ride and I deff felt them bottom out. Im hopping the new front springs and fork oil change will give this bike the improvement it needs to be the machine its designed to be
stuart fillingham , did you experiment with the adjustments in the rear shocks. I remember you did prefer them on the harder setting to coincide with your weight. Incredibly good producing, filming and instruction along with fine products your sharing.
Hi Dennis i turned up the preload two turns from the factory setting but recently made one turn back as the springs settled, i have turned the damping down two positions which feels about right for me at the moment but may change as the springs settle further. thanks for watching!
You've converted me Stewart.I will be changing out my suspension fluid this summer as a matter of maintenance . prior to your video I would only change when the seals leaked.
Hi Henrey, in fact it makes no difference which way up they are installed, they will still function just the same. however as i explained in the video the tighter coils will displace more oil so if placed at the bottom they will upset the specified air gap.
Hello, I'm watching his videos. Thank you for sharing your impressions and experiences. I have a 2015 Bonnie T100 865. I'm looking for rear shock absorbers that offer more riding comfort. I take long trips and Brazilian roads have terrible asphalt. The original dampers make the bike very hard and I feel unpleasant bumps at every imperfection on the road. As I understand it, you liked the result of the HAGON shock absorbers. Did they provide more comfort? A smoother ride? What about the front suspension? Do you recommend changing the fork springs? What brand and model? Congratulations on the channel and thanks in advance for the help. Grettings from Brazil.
Ah Mr Fillingham , a concise , accurate and direct answer to my questions in your last video regarding the RSF/ Weight info . Thank you very much , decision made .
@@stuartfillingham I’ve bought the Hagen fork springs and the RSF 5 and am ready to fit them. However, after downloading the Fuchs PDF for the RSF range i found that it states that the RSF 5 is actually SAE 5 and that the SF20 is SAE 20. I’m worried about whether to go forward with the RSF 5 now. Stu, if you could let me know how you confirmed RSF 5 is a 20 weight oil that would be great!
Stuart , very informative as usual and very well done ! But could you please tell about that great looking fender? Cheers Richard Whidbey island Washington
Nice one Stuart. I am still on the stock suspension and suffer horrendous dive and bottoming out under hard front braking, which I try to avoid by using engine-braking and the excellent rear brake. Do you have any experience of the Hagon springs in that situation please? Also how would you say the Hagon suspension components would compare with the offerings from Tec? Tec seems to offer great value for money. Cheers
yes I think the stock springs were borrowed from a Parker pen! i have tec springs fitted to the T120 and they are very good, bottoming out is a thing of the past, however Hagons 70 years experience does show through as being in a different league with these springs, and i have to say that for the little extra money they would probably be the best choice, Paul H who has commented here somewhere, has the Hagons in his T120 and he is a very demanding rider, perhaps you could pick his brains for further info? I'm sure he will be happy to fill you in!
Thanks for replying Stuart. I just changed mine for Hagon all round after consulting a respected mechanic I know. Immediate improvement in handling, coping with potholes and front braking so in a few hundred miles there will be perfection on Mr Trippler's ride.
Thank you for your input Captain sir! nice to hear from you again! I'm not sure which Hagons you had fitted to the old Thruxton sir but, The Nitros are alloy with stainless steel springs and piston body. so corrosion shouldn't be a problem. i have had a pair fitted to the T120 which have been on almost a year now and so far all is good!
Ha ha, Yes we all know your hard on your motorcycles captain but it is preferable to it living out its days in a garage! no need to upgrage on your current steed though Ohlins i believe?!
Wow, as usual a great video. You really laid out the modifications and results very well. I had no idea about the intricacies of fork oil. My request/question is for a video direct comparison of the handling of the T100 as now set up against your T120 as now set up. I realize from your comment below that you did a comparison of the two bikes previously, however, I would like to see one regarding the handling as the T120 is supposed to have better handling from from better frame geometry. Additionally, when you did the shock spring upgrade to the T120 you did not change out the oil, so next question, is will you now put the RSF5 oil in the T120? My recollection is that the T120 spring change had two springs versus the one spring for the T100, am I incorrect? Once again, thank you.
Hi Kim , Thank you! i think i did touch on handling in the previous video although i may be mistaken as it was a while ago now. The T120 has two spring but only one damper cartridge, I am considering swapping over to Hagons springs after experiencing the one on the T100, will see what i can do in the future!
Nice review . But front and back suspension on T100 is notoriously shit at both ends. Just about any mod will improve it no end. It’s no race bike , just a case of how much do you want to spend . I fitted diff rear suspension. New fork oil and non linear fork springs . Massive improvement total cost around £220 .
Thanks for that pearl of wisdom Andy. i had no idea the Bonneville suspension was considered poor! What a fortunate coincidence i did this review then!
Another great video Stuart. Seeing as you own both a T100 & T120 how about you do a compare on both bikes? It would also be good to know how an improved T100 compares to a standard T120, ie is it better to buy a new T120 or a new T100 and then spend some of the savings on mods?
brilliant vid stu this one been my favorite , have a like from me , altho would have been nice to have gone into a bit more depth such as the rear pre load, pricing and other options for any upgrades available from hagon to enhance this set up further ect , but again still enjoyable thanks
Hi thanks for your input. i purposely didn't touch on those details as Hagon custom build their shocks for each individual customer, therefore pre load info etc would unlikely to be relevant to other people. also we all have our own preferences on preload and damping so what works for me is unlikely to work for everyone else, there are no universal settings. i hope that helps.
ah i see , yes that does make perfect sense , im currently watching your t120 x pipe vid , love all the mechanical upgrade stuff as the t120 is just such a nice canvus with most upgrades making a nice positive change , ps have you ever thought about having any of the paint work in a custom paint ? maybe just me for my future t120
I dont have any plans to paint the T120 at the moment, but when the new tank arrives for the T100 i shall be dabbling in a little custom paintwork myself!
Anyone buying a motorbike that you have owned would be getting a good bike with a decent riders bike and a much improved and broader spectrum of use top job stuart
Do they do the piggyback rear shocks for a T120. I've looked on the website and cant find any piggyback shocks for anything

On an unrelated note, I received my Black Sleeper Pro pipes, I do like the sound and they look fantastic, a great addition to the bike.

Hagon Nitros and progressive springs transformed my Scrambler. Well worth doing. Not sure about changing the fork oil every year though.
Neither was i sir, but when you look into it, you realise just how little you know!
Scram900, what year is the scram? Mines a 2016 mat blue. Hope to upgrade the suspension this year along with tires. Closing in on 8000 miles.

stuart fillingham that makes sense.
changing the subject from susp to the bike itself. some 40 ltr HB sidecases and a good wind $creen makes the T -120 Bonnie a real tourer.

Excellent again Stuart. I note you fitted tec springs to the t120.
Still happy with these? As they are considerably less money!
Hi Stewart the tec springs are fine, no real complaints, but i have to say that the Hagons are on another level!
