I have started using parallel bus compression in live mixing. For anchoring the average volume of the mix. (Also using pinknoise on my headphones as a volume reference).
So very useful information about the different crest factors in music!
I think the missing piece of the puzzle.
    Thanks

I love your teaching style Merlin!
Was bij de laatste cursus in Naarden 2018 (die enige amateur uit de groep😅)

Can M noise be used to test amplifiers?

Merlin, why @00:58:46 you say that using M-Noise for performance testing is another topic? Shouldn't we use M-Noise instead of Pink Noise for "voicing" our systems?

M-Noise is designed as a test signal to stress speakers into a distortion-producing condition, but pink noise is preferable for actual voicing of the balance of a system because of its providing equal energy per octave. M-Noise does not claim to be an innovation beyond pink noise for tuning purposes, only for distortion-limited performance envelope evaluation.
