I teach a course on historical beauty (special topics in art history). I love your videos! I often show them in my course. I love that you not only recreate the historical styles, which gives a little window into what it was like for women to do their hair in various eras, but also that you're showcasing interesting and famous women in history (or infamous women, as the case may be!) - in doing this, you're recovering the voices of women in history when they have rarely counted in the history books in an official way. Thank you for all you do!
The way you speak is incredibly interesting and entertaining - I started watching your videos like an hour ago and I have no idea when my time has gone :) I have never seen such good historical hairstyle tutorials so I'm glad I found yours!
This is the most complex hairstyle I've ever seen. I can't believe you actually understood what was going on in the painting and managed to replicate it. I couldn't even comprehend what I was looking at XD
Oh my, this one truly is a beauty. Not that the others weren't, but this hairstyle is crazy! You're great. Love this series and how you offer historical background for each beauty beacon. :)
Not only I love this look but also all the interesting information about the girl! You are great! I learn about history and a new hairstyle at the same time! How cool is that?
Thank you so much for your lovely, delightful videos! Your braids are tremendously inspiring and gorgeous. You seem like a thoroughly amazing and brilliant person!
I came across your channel while searching Lucretia Borgia. Bravo, I find your channel oddly appealing. It's a great niche focus and you do it with style and class --- of course it helps that you're a very attractive base upon which to work. Keep up the good work.
Could you please do Carrie Fisher? Her look, especially as Princess Leia, is really iconic and beautiful. And a 70s look is very different from the beauty beacons you've done so far. Love the video, by the way :)
Thank you so much for this! You found someone who I hadn't heard of (great research), and yet personified Renaissance ideals of beauty (and was famous because we have all seen the paintings even if the name of the model is unknown), thus fulfilling the beauty beacon criteria (unlike say, the intelligent but not beautiful Anne Boleyn) and did an amazingly complicated hairstyle.
Thanks for the historical context, so fascinating! Beautiful job with the hairstyle. It is so interesting to see how this kind of hairstyle was done. Impressive.
I love this series! Keep up the good work!Perhaps you could dedicate a video to Twiggy, how her style reformed the beauty ideals that have lived on to this day, with the skinny bodies and so on. It would be great to see that, not to mention the beautiful makeup you'd have to do!
Omg!! I just found your chanel!! I can't stop watching the videos!! I have a master's degree in History. You have no idea how interesting all this is!!
LOEPSIE. YOU MADE MY WHOLE DAY, WEEK, MONTH WHATEVER! It's so nice to see someone young being interested in these wonderful hairstyles! I was pretty exhausted from seeing tutorials on 'BIG SEXY HAIR'. Refreshing, giiiirl!!! Keep up the good work ;)
That is quite an ornate hairstyle, looks very challenging. I had my hair cut a few years ago and although it’s growing back , my undercut in the very back is still quite short. I would need extensions as well. Can you imagine how they must’ve done that and the time that it took ? WOW
Loved it and so much hair with the extensions :O however did you manage. I was hoping you could make a blog post about what you need to look out for when buying extensions. I've had hair loss the last few years and really want some extensions now so I can do more hairstyles. But I have no idea what I should look out for
Thank you for considering the idea :D It would really help me :D I think they would really help me feel better about my hair since the hairloss (I know it sounds so vain; ) )
I love this hairstyle! I will try to do it but without braids that formed loops. I will like it better that way and won't need to use extensions. Thank you for this tutorial!
They had the most beautiful hairstyles during the Renaissance. Ladies back then had more luxurious hair than we do today. They didn't use harmful chemical shampoos and hair dyes. They had recipes for hair cleansers etc. Increase Body's colored her floor length hair w/ A concoction called filo d'oro. My great aunt had to have a hairdresser come to the house to do her ankle length thick hair because she couldn't do it herself. My aunt had floor length dark hair that was just amazing. She didn't wash it more than 2/3 times a month. It shined like a mirror. She also didn't use mainstream shampoos. MY hair was ok until I started using oil stripping shampoos and Revlon hair dyes, then it wasn't pretty anymore. I only wish I knew what the neck she used on her hair. Would you have any idea what kind of hair care went on during the Renaissance ?? I'd REALLY like to know....
Bust out the hair extensions ladies !!!!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍. Why I never see anyone sporting renaissance hair today is odd. Mainstream hair is quite boring. Renaissance hair is a work of art, each style is a masterpiece.!!!!😍😍😍😍😍 yeah, grab those hair extensions !!!!!
It`s a beautiful Hairstyle :) Can you pleas do Helen of Troy. She has to be one of the most beautiful Women in History and she was one of the reasons of the War of Troy.
+Céline Frauenknecht But she was a mythological figure with no evidence of her existence. Though I'm not sure if Lucy is strictly recreating real people's looks :).
Wow! That is a lot of braiding! It looks fantastic, congrats!! I'd like to suggest Elizabeth Woodeville, aka the white queen of England and Carolyn Jones, who played the first Morticia Addams
May I suggest Maria Felix? She was a Mexican actress and really beautiful, I really don't know how many things she did but my mom says she was a woman to admire
Lovely, somehow I forgot about Simonetta even though Boticelli is one of my favourites. Josephine Bonaparte, Ava Gardner (and I think her look would suit you, though you might not want to do it so soon after Hedy Lamarr), Frida Kahlo, Mata Hari, Veronica Lake go into the request bucket :-D.
It's so hard to do this without experiences and talent to do he hair on your own :( I could do it to the crown but the other hair I unbraided and it looks still nice with opened hair and the crown
I think for your next series you should do characters :) like Elizabeth Bennett, daenerys targaryan etc.. though I know you already do a lot without making it a series, it'd be great to see some more xD
Truly.... developed strong arms muscle.... well, I won't be able to achieve anything to do with hair style for another few months or so... cos I've got "Frozen Shoulder" :'(
Rhyan Shelby those tournaments is probably where he took the idea from, yes. Not necessarily Simonetta - many women at them were crowned Queen of Beauty by Knights who were not their husbands and possibly secret lovers.
What is not historical in your tutorials is the condition of hair, in that time they had no proper shampoo and personal hygiene was not similar to our. You shoud have grease hair to redo the proper hairstyle.

This is the most complex hairstyle I've ever seen. I can't believe you actually understood what was going on in the painting and managed to replicate it. I couldn't even comprehend what I was looking at XD
Also, you could do Carrie Fisher, aka Princess Leia from Star Wars! Her look was really influential in the '70s.
Oh my, this one truly is a beauty. Not that the others weren't, but this hairstyle is crazy! You're great. Love this series and how you offer historical background for each beauty beacon. :)
I'm italian and I'm so proud that Simonetta Vespucci is famous also outside of my country. You made a very grate video!
I absolutely love Beauty Beacons! Such a unique, wonderful idea! Could you do Elizabeth I?
I'm researching renaissance hairstyles for a play right now, I knew your channel would be the right place to start 👌
Not only I love this look but also all the interesting information about the girl! You are great! I learn about history and a new hairstyle at the same time! How cool is that?
I love this and I always love the history lesson you give each time.
Can you do Frida Kahlo??
I always loved her hair, but have no clue how to do her hair 😍😍 that would be amazing
Thank you so much for your lovely, delightful videos! Your braids are tremendously inspiring and gorgeous. You seem like a thoroughly amazing and brilliant person!
I know it might seem excessive, but it's weird: that blush actually looks good on you!
Omg… She is the cover of my professor's monograph!! You have no idea how much this video means to me… Thank you!
I came across your channel while searching Lucretia Borgia. Bravo, I find your channel oddly appealing. It's a great niche focus and you do it with style and class --- of course it helps that you're a very attractive base upon which to work. Keep up the good work.
That hairstyle is absolutely beautiful
May I suggest Mata Hari, Veronica Lake, Ana de Mendoza, Mineko Iwasaki, Empress Gi, Yang Guifei and Cleo de Moerode. Some different ones :)

Could you please do Carrie Fisher? Her look, especially as Princess Leia, is really iconic and beautiful. And a 70s look is very different from the beauty beacons you've done so far. Love the video, by the way :)
Wonderful job at recreating this style!

Just ran across your videos and I love all the history you talk about! Super interesting

You can say a lot about renaissance Italy, but they sure had a great eye for hair! That looked spectacular!
That is quite an ornate hairstyle, looks very challenging. I had my hair cut a few years ago and although it’s growing back , my undercut in the very back is still quite short. I would need extensions as well. Can you imagine how they must’ve done that and the time that it took ? WOW
Ahh this is so beautiful! I feel like Botticelli hair is pretty much the endgame of hair styles, and you've pulled it off :D
Loved it and so much hair with the extensions :O however did you manage. I was hoping you could make a blog post about what you need to look out for when buying extensions. +Natascha Clerinx (BennieNC) That's a really good idea, thanks for the suggestions! I'll start doing my research and write the post soon :)
Thank you for considering the idea :D It would really help me :D I think they would really help me feel better about my hair since the hairloss (I know it sounds so vain; ) )
No metter what time, women are aways so beautiful
I love this hairstyle! I will try to do it but without braids that formed loops. I will like it better that way and won't need to use extensions. Thank you for this tutorial!
