I love that episode! Ida Lupino was a superb actress and her chemistry with Pernell was amazing. Some nerdy fun facts: The character of Annie O’Toole is an allusion to the historical figure Eilley Orrum Bowers, one of the richest women in the US at the time and the picture of the house at the end of the episode is the Bowers Mansion in Washoe City.
This is also a favorite of mine. Annie's ability to talk Adam into doing what she wants is hilarious, and does help us see why Hoss and Joe are able to do something similar in The Wooing of Abigail Jones. I honestly think Adam leaving the Ponderosa feels forced and everyone tries to find excuses for why his character would leave rather than chalking it up to shoddy writing. But that's my take on it. Love this episode it makes me laugh every time I watch it.
I agree! He's just a friend to her,but she can still talk him into going along. I'll be doing a video in the future on exactly what you said in that last part. Thanks for the comment!
This is also one of my favourite episodes. Ida Lupino and Pernell are really terrific together. In fact, most of my favourite Adam episodes are the funny ones. I still laugh out loud watching The Wooing of Abigail Jones even though I’ve watched it many…many…times. Like you, I’ll always wonder if PR would have stayed on if they let him take on a mature role. Do we know if Lorne Greene ever supported PR in this?
Thank you so much for the comment! I was beginning to wonder if everyone was seeing this one. I have read that Lorne tried to talk him out of leaving. I don't know how he felt about Pernell's ideas for how his role could have been changed.
@@Bonanzababe In the end Pernell did leave, so i guess it really doesn’t matter. I’m amazed how much we DO know about what took place behind the scenes on a show that went off the air over fifty years ago.
This episode gave me a little trouble in uploading so if you're having trouble viewing it, please let me know.
Nothing but respect for Ida Lupino. This is a fun episode.
