I've followed you since October of 21 and never did I ever think of you as a diva. My admittedly subjective opinion is that you are real, genuine, openly vulnerable, and wildly talented.
It's amazing how artists don't really *_need_* a record label anymore. If they have a fanbase, they can go directly to the fans like this. It's so empowering.
If they did have a label, they’d make money…unlike this average talent person.

Mary you're awesome! You don't have to apologize or justify the price. I've paid at least as much for specialty vinyl releases that only came in a basic dust cover and didn't include a CD or digital copy. So getting a signed physical copy (regardless of format) and a digital copy of an artist's debut album especially one with this much pedigree behind it seems like a steal.

Pre-ordered, if for no other reason than to say that I have tremendous hope that the music industry can still let legitimately independent artists thrive, and I want to support that path. The fact that I’m sure the songs will be incredible is just icing on the cake. There’s absolutely no reason whatsoever that music has to be so depressingly manufactured and corporate. To think about the fact that it’s actually happening, and especially happening in an age where distribution & communication is orders of magnitude easier than it has ever been before, is heartbreaking. Thankfully, these days we have a wide and varying assortment of platforms with which to get your obvious talent out in front of the masses. I have tremendous respect for you, Mary. Your determination surrounding the integrity of published music reminds me of the release of Radiohead's 'In Rainbows' (2007), whereby fans could choose their own price for the album. Might be an interesting topic for a video - I'd love to hear your take.

I really hope to be able to buy your courses soon. I've been learning guitar for the last three years. I'm older, I'll be 60 in November, and I'm having the time of my life learning. I'm taking in-person lessons, not just trying to noodle through by watching youtube, etc. I want to learn more and get better and now I'm starting to think about playing for others, which I never, ever, ever would have thought about doing. Also wonderful you managed to get Mayer's backing. If you have a drum/bass unit that already work together that's a huge boost.
It seems these days there's enough that can be done on a laptop when it comes to recording and engineering, provided you use the right techniques like double tracking, raw tracks for re-amping and so on. But mixing and mastering are still skills that require the right ear to get right and definitely where you need care and attention.

As an indie author, when you're talking about what to do as an indie artist all I can do is nod and say "Uh huh. Yup."
I'm glad I watched this video today because I felt I was getting lost "in the forest". Everything said about your journey is very similar to mine, and my big battle to win is feeling guilt and stupid for wanting to be a musician. Guilt because it's not the typical profession and stupid because we get bombarded by all the negativity about the current state of the music industry.
I wish you the best with the album and I hope it works as a key to get beautiful opportunities.
I support your commitment to providing physical copies of your music. Over the last 25 years younger generations have forgotten how to listen to music. They don't know the joy of getting together with their group of friends and opening the newest album by their favorite artist and carefully pulling out that pristine vinyl disk and gently putting it on the turntable and putting the needle down for the first time and listening and enjoying the experience together. It is not quite the same with a CD as with a 33 1/3 vinyl album (mainly because of the size difference) but close enough.
So young folks get together with a few of your friends, put down you phones for an hour, purchase Mary's CD "Super, Sexy, Heartbreak" and experience the joy of discovering new music together.
There is a song you play on a video where you are in San Francisco playing a Martin OM from the 50's. I go watch that video regularly because I get the song stuck in my head. I hope that song is on the album.
