The gofundme for the kids of Wenyang in my last video is almost 2/3rds to the goal. If you have any spare change, it would make a huge difference to these kids lives, even $5 goes a really long way for them! gofund.me/af3411c3

@@MonkeyStealsPeach It is interesting how even within one style, different lineages have such different origin myths.
Master Yap Boh Heong of KL, Malaysia might be someone to provide another angle about five ancestors. He has "it" apparently.
One more thing. Supposedly, to bring back kung fu to the "reconstituted: Southern Shaolin Temple which you visited, they had to bring teachers from the diaspora to teach the monks Wuzu.
That might be another aspect that can be investigated.

Growing up with traditional karate really ingrained an appreciation in me for San zhan forms.

Thank you for showing this. Beng Kiam was my uncle’s school in Manila. My father and I couldn’t help but notice how all the techniques here were what my uncle did. I’m also glad that the ethnic tensions were touched upon. In the 50’s and 60’s, only ethnic Chinese were permitted to take Wuzuquan. So now that more Filipinos have taken up the art is a very good thing. Again thank you for this.

As a practitioner of traditional eskrima/FMA, I look forward to the next video. Incidentally, Prof. Jocano is also an exponent of two well-known FMA lineages or styles, from the late grandmasters Ben Lema and Tatang Ilustrisimo.

I hope the remaining kung fu clubs like Wenyang and Kong Han continue to preserve traditional chinese martial arts in Manila's chinatown for future generations

Some karate styles have this same form, they call it "sanchin", and it's the most fundamental form on these styles - the main styles I can remember now are goju ryu, uechi ryu and kyokushin. Sadly in my style we haven't this form, the connection between shotokan kata and chinese original forms are quite distant. But as I can see, the strongest chinese influence on karate comes from the southern chinese styles. Wuzu quan is an interesting style, it's good to see more content of southern styles here in your channel.

Actually, Shotokan DOES have a SanChin Kata. Though, it's apparently fallen out of favour within the JKA. th-cam.com/video/pEKzWyLebws/w-d-xo.html

Sad to see these arts becoming less and less practiced. People just want the fast, easy way. Unable to eat bitter in order to taste the sweet. Glad I've retained my 5 Ancestor fist forms, need to practice my Hung Gar too
