if you want your lady knight to be cursed but don't want it to be because she sucks, you could always do a lineage-based curse! like a parent/grandparent did something weird and she was cursed before she was even born, or the parent/grandparent lived with the curse and once they died she got stuck with it!
I totally get what you mean about drawing just regular modern people. I love art history and old fashion but I myself am NOT fashionable or current so whenever I have to draw modern people I really struggle with making them interesting because even if it’s realistic, I hate drawing everyone in jeans and tshirts. All of my characters are in some different time period or a fantasy world where I can make up the clothes
my headcanon is that the fourth character is the goddess and the knights child (because this is a magical situation where lesbians can have bio children lol) and has been watching over her parents forest for thousands of years, and the city she now lives in that was taking over the forest grew from the village from the goddess story

i think a cool idea for the second character is that instead of just carrying around the remains of the animals, maybe she starts wearing the remains as like an easier way to carry it and to pay tribute to them, bear/dear pelts on her back, some form of skull covering her face, jewelery made of bones, armor from leather. just an interesting thought i had :) love ur vids !!
16:34 I think one of the most important parts is recognizability. Like for example, Maple from gravity falls. She always is wearing a fluffy sweater, and has her hair down. Studying how to make recognizable character is something that would be a valuable tool. edit: Like for example, adding little symbols on the knight's armor, symbols from her kingdom when she was knighted. Maybe some fur at the start or end of her coat, since she has to carry whatever she kills. Or adding fishnets that are actually shaped like hearts instead of diamonds on the femme fatale. Maybe a sleek bag with a logo on it, or a unique chocker.
We just want to point out the hands- so well drawn, and every bit as expressive as the faces! This is one skill that a professional illustrator needs to develop, and it's great that @lilstarnerd shares her process so people new to drawing can get guidance!

The third character reminds me so much of Ada Wong (who’s also a hired mercenary) from resident evil! Specifically the second game where she wears a similar red dress.
I feel like it would be super cool if character 3 (femme fatal) and character 4 (modern dryad) were in the same story. Like 3 works for the company that is polluting the city, but she hates it and is planning on killing the men in charge or something, or is sent to kill 4 because she is causing problems for the company (kind of a meg from Hercules character). Then 3 and 4 team up to take down the company and restore the forest (maybe an enemies to lovers trope in there too hehe).
These are really pretty!! Super well done. I would like to say, you're quite harsh on yourself for example about the 3rd design, because of it's simplicity, but a simple design is not a bad one. If a design is accomplishing what you wanted it to, communicating the idea you were aiming for, then it's a successful or "good" design no matter how detailed it is or anything like that! Be a little more kind to yourself :) 💖
I love all of these designs and your art style!! I absolutely applaud anybody that can do traditional because as a mainly digital artist, I find traditional to be insanely hard. I love all of the backstories you created, sometimes that’s the hardest part of creating a character. As someone who has been drawing and creating characters for over 10 years, I agree with literally everything you said and how you went about your progress. The only thing I wanted to add is don’t be afraid to create a basic character!! A lot of people are against simple designs but honestly, sometimes it really says a lot about their personality and backstory. Many artists create super intricately designed characters and don’t do simple designs which is great! But there are other artists who tend to create simple designs which is amazing too. As someone who does both, both types can say a lot about a character. So what I’m trying to say is don’t be afraid to create the character you want to create and have fun making the design you want to bring into the world. Anyways, thank you for creating this video and I will definitely be looking at the rest of your channel 🫶♥️

*cracks fingers* The goddess has a harem of women after she gets them to stay with her & the knight was a person guard of the princess of whom she fell in love with. She did everything for her & even snuck her out whenever the duties got too much. One day, the knight was asked to capture an owl for the princess's collection & went to another forest. She managed to capture a rare animal & brought it to the princess alive who had gotten it killed which angered a witch. As a knight it was her duty to protect her princess & took a hit for a curse. The sins of what the Princess ordered (to do with animals only) then fell upon the knights shoulder who had to keep a sack of animal bodies. She hoped that her taking that hit, the princess would see how much she cared for her. When she caught the princess sneaking out to see a man, she fled with her sack of sins-- she entered the goddess' forest who sensed the curse and watched from afar as the village asked for her help seeing the knight armor. She goes to look for the missing women as she only thought they wanted them found to protect them. Cue her meeting the witch harem & her learning of what the people of the village actually wanted. They agreed for her to stay so she would give them protection- they realized her curse after she caught a rabbit for them. The goddess makes an offering: join the harem & try to make the goddess fall for her then she would break the curse or keep the curse and only be a protector. -insert enemies, friends to lovers here-

It might help you with your journey on character design (Obviously you don’t have to go as exaggerated like some cartoonist do) plus it’d make a fun video :)
The fem fattale gives me an idea for this character, a woman that was scammed of her money and wealth by someone she trusted and now she punishes rich arrogant men.
I think a heart shaped dagger for her would be nice at first I thought you gave her long boots and heart shoes would be nice. I feel like she works in an all woemn organization maybe it has something to do with her past or her relationships with other people maybe both. Or maybe she was young forced prosti❤tute or p star who dabbles in only f. Maybe add oprhan with the rest or traffic❤ked which is why she attacks men because usually men are the ones behind this stuff. I also think a fur or silk scarf would look nice on her. The last girl gives me hippie vibes the last two would end up not liking each other to being great partners and the hippie dabbles in spirtial modern day witch craft

For the first one I honestly thought of a human hippogriff, put the wings and faun sort of legs and gave it like poofy hair. I really loved them all
