From the developer: "The Duelist is a disciplined and deadly combatant who can tactically switch between Defensive and Aggressive stances. A formidable presence in any lineup, she is able to ignore enemy defenses, and strike back with Riposte. Her pursuit of perfection means she will demand the best of her team and command them to victory by wiping out cooldown times and providing both offensive and defensive buffs. The Duelist is able to move between ranks with ease, attacking from both the front and back ranks, dispatching her enemies with ruthless efficiency.
The Crusader has returned! This battle hardened knight is fueled by a radiant Holy fire and will Smite his foes where they stand. The Crusader is a well rounded front rank hero who can withstand punishing blows, support his team with healing and stress recovery, and rend his opponents with his righteous blade."

Duelist is currently looking to be far and away the hero that needs the most understanding of the game to use effectively. She has absolutely massive damage, buff, and debuff potential depending on which path you choose, but she also has minimal self-sustain(outside of her offensive stance riposte, she has no self-heals, and only dodge to fall back on), and has backliner hp while wanting not only to be a frontliner, but to be attacked as well. I think if you can figure out how to make her work, she’ll be incredible, but if you can’t, she’ll be basically useless.
Taking advantage of her riposte seems like a good idea for her maybe use riposte trinkets or dot trinkets on hit to spread dot on enemy turns
Preparation can make her Riposte deal around 20 damage. That is a lot for Riposte. She is fun and complex while Crusader is fun and simple.

I do appreciate 1:01:20 when Baer realises that overconfidence is indeed a slow and insidious killer

I like the duelist's character design a lot. It almost screams "noblesse oblige" :D

@@PenumbraLPhaha no worries, it's just that there's a set of equipment named noblesse oblige in the game, and I've actually never heard the term used outside of genshin. My bad brodie
@@alexureche6106 The term refers to the mindset that *nobles* are *obligated* to use their position of power to help those in less fortunate situation.
It is interesting that the Duelist still hold on to her weapon even when she resting in the inn.
Leper and Crusader do too, everybody is so precious when it comes to their swords lol
@@mothichorror446 "So precious" lol. As if they're being little whingy princesses about it. I like the idea of them thinking it makes them tough looking when really it makes them seem like children with their soft toys
The coolest thing about Cloudberry Kingdom is that it managed to have 1000 levels of that procedural generation, I remember cause Roosterteeth did a playthrough on it for a few years
Really hope they add the Abomination from DD1 because i feel they would have an awesome backstory at the shrines

I love how the heroes have unique motions for being backstabbed lmao
I feel like it would have been really strong to alternate the duelist (in offense stance) and jester forward with their two forward skills between positions 2 and 3. On the first run the duelist kept ending up in the front not moving, and leaving jester in the back, somewhat misplacing the vestal because of the ordering. Idk... just seemed like there were some non-synergistic choices on the first run.
Would have been nice to see Baer try to use riposte in the first act. Why did he not? All first map has been Touché with a rare Disengage
I know right! He never touched feint or preparation and it drove me up the wall!

Lol yeah the Duelist is indeed a dualist. Dread Pirate Roberts and Inigo Montoya would be proud.
I just noticed that with the latest update, the game doesn't force you to take "cursed" skills that you don't have equipped when in an unfriendly relationship, but instead curses one of your skills you have quipped. And most of the time, it is the skill that would hurt you most.
I hope we get the abomination next, but i do live in fear of him becoming a roaming boss like the Antiquarian
a good party after the patch is th deja vu (vestal, jester, highwayman, M@A) upgraded retribution keeps focus on M@A while jester can encoure highwayman to self buff with upgraded take aim and let the crits fly (requires using your only 2 upgrade points on retribution and take aim on the 1st inn but worth it)
Baer: "Well that wasn't a problem at all, we might make it to the end of this region"
DD2: "Well, about that..."

Imagine these invading soldiers sending letters back home about the horrors of this land and they mention a leper blasting through their road barricade
So when I got to the assistence encounter part of the quest, I had Dismas in my team and he said: "I am looking for my friend, have you seen him" and I actually teared up a little
Damn I woke up at the perfect time, gotta play DD2 and watch it at the same time now
Those death's door checks were nutty. Man at arms could have survived if you had changed bellow for defender on him probably. Vestal's low heal threshold also put the team in a bad spot. Mantra or even guarding with sanctuary seems better. Ministrations also has value with those dots.

I'm glad that they nerfed Man-at-Arms. Also, I'm appalled that they nerfed Man-at-Arms.
That means PD or FLG is next on the chopping block. Just buff my girl Vestal already. Crusader gives more consistent and better heals than her.
I can finally start sleeping again Baer, thank you. Better than melatonin! I mean this in the most serious entertainment way. I watch like an hour and a half then presto out cold. Watch the rest on my night shift :D
I understand the hesitence to bring back old characters, but I still greately hope they bring back the Abomination someday, even if only as a rare enemy/boss encounter. They're still my peak character from DD and I miss them dearly

I can imagine Blundering Buffoon, or whatever the negative trait that causes your character to take damage whenever they move, is gonna be *real* bad on the Duelist lol

They actually dropped a shadow nerf on Baer with the DLC, reducing the effectiveness and bad situation threshold for streamer luck.
I'm really struggling with the Duelist. It could be partially because I haven't played the game in several months, but I kept using her in my quest to unlock Reynauld, but I kept getting destroyed. She doesn't seem like she does much damage, even when attacking in the right stances. I eventually did an Act 2 run with Plague Doctor - Cultist - Duelist - Hellion, but it took 7 hours. Reynauld seems way simpler and more versatile so far.
When is DD2 going to be on PlayStation? I’m surprised it’s not released for the system yet.

Playing a run while watching, took an occultist in my run and I think my favorite result of an 0 occultist heal with a bleed is the target getting a positive relationship pip anyway...

50:18 I fully heard "ovaries egg" and it is indeed the worst kind to get on your face.
I like how baer unlocks the new character paths, ignores them, and doesn't unlock her fully despite gaining new candles within the run to use for most if not all of crusaders unlocks when hes obtained

Would be nice if "loadouts" would also find there way into Darkest Dungeon itself. Would make stuff easier in regards to trinkets, but I guess this will never happen (sadly).

My experience was a team that did the obsession and the body of work with alchemist plague MaT sarge carcass Hellion and antagonist duelist and got reynauld on the second run of the team. Duelist is real nice
I love that *every* streamer, literally *every. single. one.* who's picked up this DLC got to the crossroads and was like "broooooo wtf???? wheeeere are the skiilsss doood I can't see them?! Where they gooooo???? ???" when it quite literally says right on the portrait to right click. You don't even have to wait, it happens AS you hover OVER the picture, you can't AVOID it appearing.
Playing video games professionally, can't even read the screen. What a wild world.
