Especially these giant tool palletes occupying three-quarters of the screen actually look better than in Illustrator ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). Why can't they at least use a smaller font in them?

That color choice for the icons is easy on the eyes. This week is the first time I have used Inkscape and I know it is going to be fun, as well as useful. Thanks for explaining those color variations available. Step one: dark theme!
oh damn the new view modes and path effects selector are really slick. I didn't expect them to include so much useful stuff and thoughts its gonna be a stable release with bug fixes only.
Really think they did a dis service for cnc plasma designers. I have been trying to find the measure tool and dont see it. The realease notes state to just hover over a path and it will show dimensions. It does not work. The y axis change is not warranted if your 0,0 positions are lower left corner of your table. Took me a while to figure how to change it back.
I don’t recall the original reasoning for the Y origin being inverted. But if you look at graphs it makes perfect sense (going up and to the right). Also if you still need that it’s a checkbox in the options. Thankfully the new starting at zero at the top is the default. This was perfect timing for me to almost use it. I’ve been playing with an old map, recreating it in vector (gotta love 1kx1k pixel jpegs of giant things) and auto tracing wasn’t working very well. So I opted for Affinity since I can tweak things on desktop, but draw with my iPad and Apple Pencil (cloud syncing ftw). Has anyone done anything like that with Inkscape? I love the app in general and am obsessed with SVG.
I guess the inverted y axis in the previous versions might come from a mathematical perspective. Imagine a graph of a function where y values grow from bottom to top.
hello davies inktscape I have a question when i make an autocad dxf from an image then i want open it in autocad but then the curves start to deform,how is that possible?i hope a response back soon
have you tried changing the edit->rendering->"rendering tile multiplier" to say 7 (maybe 25) or above, and the "rendering cache" to 64 or higher and restarting inkscape
What bothers me about the new Inkscape is the fact that the middle click button no longer pans the canvas. Now you have to use space bar and click to utilize the pan. Is there a way to bring it back to the middle click pan?
1.0 ? when did that drop? How about the text handling? I hope they improved that some. Have to say, looks like a stunning upgrade from the .92 version on my fedora 30 install.
Wow! In all due respects to Inkscape there were several 'amature' bug bears. I have an old copy of Draw Plus that I more often refered to because of it's User Friendly status. I'm looking forward to 1.0 download. Now all they have to do is upgrade their drab Icon with color. Is it a poisonous Mushroom, an old black umbrella, Mt St Helens, an Asian rice farmer ... ... ?

Re inverted y axis: Placing the origin at the top left rather than the bottom left has NOT been normal in the technical world for at least 50 years. I am a physicist and mathematician and it is very NOT NORMAL in the technical world to do as you favor; in fact your favored version would be called inverted in my world. Your statement that "Every other program on earth does this... " might be true in web design for non-technical people, but it makes me cringe. Inkscape should retain the capability to put the origin at the lower left.
These were all just "better laid out user interface" or "prettier". Absolutely nothing that I would call a "new feature". Perhaps that's why I'm a programmer, not a designer.
UX is the most crucial aspect of any product if it ment to be used by human being. Vim for example has super UX. Some aspects of inkscape were missing consistency and logic. It is nice to see developers truly develope inkscape as a product and not as feature packed benchmark as some of Foss do. There is pretty easy and clever book from a designer with engineering background. "The Design of Everyday Things' by Donald Norman. It is pretty interesting to read regardless of a background

4:51 The Dark Theme makes those light Windows title bars look really incongruous, though.
Just change it on the windows settings, I do that so every program has a dark bar.

I'd like to have chamfer/fillet on toolbox instead in LPE menu. Swapping position with the useless Connections tool, maybe.

That icon is scalable. Does your app have scalable icons?

One thing missing for me is running all this on Linux.
I am running it on Linux (Ubuntu 18.04) as a Snap package. Everything seem to work fine.
