    I do wish you got more opponents playing Nf3 either before or after pushing the queen pawn. Maybe there is nothing there other than a slight initiative, but that is almost exclusively what I've gotten. The real power of the gambit is the venom in the position once they commit that knight fully. It would be really cool to see some more traps in those two Nf3 lines.

    I like this line the most, it's just 18 moves of crazy prep

    Ever thought about making a return to Chessable with an Elephant Gambit course? Plenty of content to cover(Classic mainline vs Jobava's Petrov move-order, classic traps, etc.) and Chessable needs more dubious gambit courses- everyone's too eager to play uber engine-approved repetoires and the like.
    P.S. I'm still waiting for the Calypso Gambit, John. 🙃

    There ought to be five or six overall tactical gambit strategies. The main of course white attacking f7 +opening line for the rook. You could place Scholars mate, Kings gambit and Jerome gambit in this lets say White 1 category. Black 1 category is the reverse obviously with Latvian gambit. White 2 category meets the no castling situation and I guess Nakhmanson, Urusov and Evans gambit might apply. They are sort of W1+2 . Black 2 obviously Elephant, . In actual fact this is as far as my repertoire goes. Black and white 3, needless to say would go against queenside castling.

    Have you considered playing on a lower rating account to face the other responses instead of against pawn d4?

    • @justinbrockhaus4389
      @justinbrockhaus4389 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That would probably be considered cheating unless lichess was verified ahead of time and his opponents could get their rating back

      I'm not Johnathan, but I'm a decent enough chess player who knows how to analyze with an engine.
      The most common move made by lower rated players, according to the Lichess database, is Nf3. To play against that, one of your best options is to play Bg4 and turn this into what is basically a reverse Urusov gambit. The line goes like this:
      1. e4, e5
      2. Ñf3, d5
      3. exd5, Nf6
      4. Nxe5, Qxd5
      5. Nf3, Bg4
      6. Be2, Nc6
      7. O-O, O-O-O
      8. Nc3, Qh5
      9. d3, Bd6
      10. h3, Bxh3
      This is now the Urusov Gambit from black's point of view, and the attack is basically overwhelming. You can always use the analysis feature on Lichess to see what the best move is in the position, if there's no video on it, but in my experience the Urusov Gambit is really hard to refute unless you've studied it. I'd try this, if I were you. Or not. The great thing about advice is that you never have to take it. 😂
      I hope this helps, though. Good luck!

    • @Fishy_17
      @Fishy_17 ปีที่แล้ว

      If Qe2 then Bc5 Ng6+ Be6 Nxh8 Nc6 Nc3 Qf5 d3 is the critical line, where I like to play Nd4 Qd2 0-0-0 Be2 g5, because if they take on g5 it’s a draw.
      There’s other interesting ideas instead of d3 that draw, such as Qf3, which leads to Qe4+ Qe2 Bxf2+ Kxf2 Qc5+ Ke1 Nd4 Qd3 0-0-0 and there’s quite a few things that can happen here.
      As well as Qf3 there’s Nd1, leading to Nd4 Ne3 Qg5 Qd1.
      Of course this is only very few moves that can arise. I will also leave one final variation that I got against Komodo25 which lead to a mate on move 42:
      e4 e5 Nf3 Nf6 Nxe5 d5 exd5 Qxd5 Qe2 Bc5 Ng6+ Be6 Nxh8 Nc6 c3 0-0-0 d3 Bg4 f3 Re8 Qxe8+ Nxe8 fxg4 Ne5 d4 Qe4+ Kd2 Nxg4 dxc5 Nf2 Rg1 Qf4+ Kc2 Qa4+ b3 Qe4+ Kb2 Nd1+ Ka3 Qc2 Kb4 a5+ Kxa5 Qf2 Rh1 Qxc5+ Ka4 Qa7+ Kb4 c5+ Kc4 Qa6+ Kxc5 Qd6+ Kb5 Nc7+ Ka4 Nd5 b4 N1xc3+ Kb3 Qxb4+ Kc2 Qa4+ Kd3 Qe4+ Kd2 Qd4+ Kc2 Qd1+ Kb2 Na4+ Ka3 Qxc1+ Kxa4 Qb2 h3 Qc2+ Ka5 Qc6 Bb5 b6+ Ka6 Qa8#

    I've played like like at least 30 times by now and I have never seen d4 to anchor the knight a single time. I just end up getting my Queen kicked by Nc3 after they save their e5 knight because I can't pin, and then they are free to develop their light squared bishop and I just have to play a normal game of chess down 2 pawns lmao

      @@joebrowse5338d4 is just too ambitious and all 2300's play that move. Instead 1800's retreat the knight back or...queen e2 (ironically, the best move).
