      Toy cars wheels don't roll, don't feel like a toy cars conventionally.
      Like collectibles statues or 3D prints for display use, no moving parts.

    I'm a kid at heart so I like a car that rolls, I also cut the cards ( carefully) for my Hot Wheels cars and keep them in a file. Lately I have gone for the Hot Wheels ID models then I have a nest for my fancy ( to me) cars. Static cars would be great for diorama displays. But I am an old goat and grew up with my vintage Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars, and I've been a model builder since I've been a lad, so I think that you need to do what makes you happy. It's a great hobby and it's a lot of fun to whip my friends and my kids on my drag race course, Or my old double lane HW race track from the early 1970s. Great video.. indeed for me, it's a dealbreaker if they don't roll, can't understand how these companies come up with such nice models at very high price point and don't care to make something so crucial for a car, to roll, on their models. Thanks for the great video... Would love for you to do the same but to validate which brands have a true 1/64 scale...

    • @modelcarshouston
      @modelcarshouston  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have to think that most collector grade brands are striving for visual appeal rather than dynamic appeal.
      Seeing as the market is more than likely for an older crowd (14+) that won't be "rolling the cars around making vroom vroom sounds" they tend to make it static and allow for more of a display presence. Same for 43 and 18 scale collector grade stuff most of the time. Every now and then, brands will make the roll.
      The talk about true 64 is actually on the list!

    • @bb6typeSH
      @bb6typeSH 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For me rolling is a bonus. Vroom sounds can be added regardless of rollness lol

    For me, it doesn't matter if it rolls or if it's a static model. As long as it looks good and is properly displayed, that's all that matters.

    • @modelcarshouston
      @modelcarshouston  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same. At this level of collecting, for me anyway, I'm over the concept of rolling.

  • @nova12332

    Roll ftw always. Whats the point of not being able to play with them?? If i want display ill buy 1/18 scale

    • @modelcarshouston
      @modelcarshouston  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think for some adult collectors, the idea of playing with them is no longer the priority when it comes to collector grade model cars.
      It's more about displaying them efficiently and boldly and making sure the details are on point.

    No roll = lazy manufacturing\design... FAIL, like having a trophy wife that never puts out.
    Sold ALL of my tarmac works\inno's etc.
    Of course, everyone's opinion is different, and thats fine. My take on it is that rolling is a basic requirement for a CAR model, its not like we're expecting an airplane diecast to fly (even they roll :D, i have a few pacmin\gemini).
    To each their own, but for me... its a must.
    edit: if they have suspension too, thats the holy grail. Peako came close with the mr2 that i have, it does roll, just not 100% smooth. Tomytec on the other hand... I'm heavily into them atm, they have it all, just wish they came out with more modern vehicles.

    • @modelcarshouston
      @modelcarshouston  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      TomyTec only specializes in nostalgic Japanese vehicles. You don't get any of the "fun" cars with that brand unfortunately. However, their quality, precision and loyalty to the car maker is next to none.
