Great work. Question for you. I have a 848evo. i just did a compression test and for the life of me, i cant find what range it should be. I am just shy of 160psi. Could you be so kind and point me into the direction to find this information.
The stuck rings are definitely your problem. We used to see this on car engines when the fueling was too rich causing carbon to buld up betwen the rings, or running the engine with no air filter.
@@DesmoWerx I'll wait watching old videos. Have you got any video with tips on best (reliable) versions to buy or weak points to check when buying one of these beauties? I've read about frequent catastrophic crank issues. Cheers!
Holy crap that oilfilter was on super tight and that oil look dark to me mines is always green , also that oil drain plug was waaaay tooo tight i would have maybe got impatient with it 😅
Yes it is, got as a present many many moons ago, I don't find it too bad personally although the ratchet is a little sloppy now so might invest in something else.
@@DesmoWerx you won my heart over! Haha. I love your videos. I have never steered any other direction when it comes to Ducati content. You my friend, are a genius!! Good luck with all your content
Some engines benefit from becoming loose on the spec, this one has gone way to far. My email is on the about page if you want to reach out for engine work.
The tire wear suggests the bike is ridden on track. I think the owner would be foolish to not put new rod and main bearings in this now. Especially on an 848
WHEN THE WORTH IS THE INVESTMENT IN KNOWLEDGE. WE PAY THE MECHANIC.
A worthy comment 👍🙂
Good to have you back👍🏆
Thanks 😎
Good to see a upload. Keep it up buddy!!
Back to a more regular schedule now 👍😎

Fresh tour! TY :)
Thanks for watching 😎
Enjoyed watching this. I’d be interested to see how you get timing setup again after the strip down.
When reassembled I will show how to set the standard timing 🙂
@@DesmoWerx I look forward to it 😀

I agree, the fueling looks to have been poor, and the cylinders were also out of spec.
@@DesmoWerx hello master, does these engine stall, popping, miss fire...etc, especially when heat up?
Looking forward to watching next episode!
I am interested in learning about 848/1098 as I'd love to buy one.
It will come soon, we have a small delay whilst we source parts to rebuild the engine 🙂

Dude, you’re back!
Thanks, glad to be back making regular content again 😎
Horo. Cyl. Bore scoring my guess and or low tension on the comp.rings .
The cylinders were found out of spec as well as the rings being stuck so definitely a combination of both 😎

Are 848 sleeved or coated bores?
They are nicasil coated 🙂
great video as usual. I see you using a craftsman ratchet, were/are they available in the UK?
Thanks, I got the craftsman set as a present from my family in the US
Is that a Craftsman ratchet? I have them and they are really hard on your hands 😅
Yes it is, got as a present many many moons ago, I don't find it too bad personally although the ratchet is a little sloppy now so might invest in something else.
@@DesmoWerx it hurts my palm if I try to put more force on it 😂 I love the extendable ratchets now for the extra leverage & comfy handles.
If you could do one of these to a Panigale 899, 959, 1199 or 1299. You would win everyone over!
I have an engine to strip of my own for parts so will have some 1199 content again soon.

Funny thing with these Tractors the looser some bits the more power? How do I get to hire your skilled time?

Hi Rob, speaking with owner we may well go down this route to be sure of reliability once re-assembled
