Best bit of jingle music at 13:33. These jingle packages are second only to the Beacon Radio ones in their heyday (76-79). Proper independent local radio unlike the stuff we have to put up with these days sadly...
Even the adverts were good: Hi Sell Direct; There's more to life with Marshalls (Rover); Letchworth Roofing... Marshalls were just a few doors up on the opposite side of the road from the Chiltern studios at Goldington Road in Bedford.
I remember when one of the DJ's got a bit too enthusiastic with their "lock it on and rip the knob off" jingle and people started sending in radio tuning knobs 😂
Used to listen to SuperGold on analogue satellite back in the day and I could hear Galaxy 101 in Devon! Was it the legendary Howard Hughes doing his best American Hot FM voice on some of these?
I don't recall ever hearing HH doing voices for the Chiltern network, only for Capital. I recall the voices are likely from Charlie Van Dyke & Dave Foxx. Galaxy was a regional (rather than local) station, based and covering Bristol & the West, so bleed over coverage, but not unusual. Hope that helps.
