When I listen to this song I think of myself and my friend, having a beer and talking. Love the fact Bonnie Prince Billy only agreed to the cover if he could be a backing singer, he knew what it meant for Cash to cover his song.
I love this version with ordinary everyday people. More relatable, esp. for me. I wish people would be more empathetic when darkness rears it's ugly head.

Alcoholics, like Cash, are often very aware of this - we know only too well the darkness of our thoughts - maybe a higher power can save us . . .

Our Lord God and Father says ' i know every mans heart mind and loins " Thats scary people, but we all fall and err, andwhen that happens isntit better to go make Peace with Our Lord and Savioir, and stand again ! We may fall many times but dontjust lie there in that maudlin myer, at least try !
