I work in Commercial Insurance as well in customer service. (Hope to one day be an UW as I am hoping to eventually get off the phones. I don’t mind talking to business customers but the back to back calls can be a lot). But I feel like we are in a season of change within the industry itself. My company is also going through major changes right now too.

Sounds like you are doing senior underwriter tasks without the senior underwriter title if reading between the lines correctly. Sounds like a promotion is in your future❤

Looking like I need more $ because it appears I am doing great deal of what the Underwriters do. Do you have any career advice and do you need special certifications/degree to be an Underwriter? Hi Britnee! What field of work would you be coming from? I'm not familiar with the mortgage side of underwriting. I'm on the insurance side of underwriting. So that cert may hold some weight on the mortgage side but I'm not really sure because I don't do mortgage underwriting.

What do you mean by two positions? Do you mean underwriting several lines of business? If so, yes. I currently underwriter workers compensation insurance, general liability, and soon will be handled management liability and cyber insurance which is all different lines of business.
