Same here man. My friend tried to get me into YOI, and I wasn't so sure of it. After a while of other things such as online stories based off of YOI and youtube videos based off of YOI, I watched it. Great decision, it was an amazing anime. And let me just say that I like how it portrays' Yuri's anxiety, which I deal with myself.

@@l-3832 it just.. hit hard. i don't remember the last time i had some enthusiasm to the sport i play. i miss having the will to actually enjoy it. that sport is a huge part of my life which is why its "important" to my mental health. i wish i were able to create something beautiful instead of just playing and playing some sport. i want to quit that "hobby" but, im not that strong yet. i feel like i'm never that strong.. i feel like im not playing that sport for myself, just for others. my life has always been that way; doing things for others and never for me. its the same thing for school. like i said, i want to create something beautiful, something that people feel, something that makes people feel happy or sad or angry, just something. i want to be important, not important to someone, just important for the world itself. nights like this, i don't feel anything, not a single thing, exept missing someone ive never met.

The fact that I already know most of these facts (before I watched this vid) say a lot about my obsession of this series.
*To everyone who's looking to watch this series:*
This series has been the talk of the Fall 2016, if you're interested in watching this series please keep these in mind. The main reasons YOI fans recommend this to everyone is the healthy depiction of an LGBT romance (even romance in general)- but I feel like this sentence alone doesn't give the series justice (though it is important). Because to me, *YOI is more than that*- I absolutely adored this show even before the relationship was confirmed canon.
YOI gave me an MC that suffered anxiety- it was also implied that he suffered depression and binged eating for a while. Whilst many may say that there's plenty of Mc's that had anxiety; I felt that this show conveyed it with more maturity and deeper understanding others. It also doesn't make it a central focus of the narrative. Because that's not what this show is focused on. I loved that it doesn't doesn't define the MC- his anxiety isn't his 'personality'.
This series handles the 'sport' aspect of it differently, after watching so many sports anime. I could tell it handled it differently. The thing that most people don't realise is that there is no proper 'rival' for the MC. Instead, it emphasises on 'Sportsmanship', each character doesn't delve on comparing themselves to someone else. You have no idea how much I adored this aspect of this. After reading DnA, I've come to hate the 'rivalry' plot of most sports anime.
The thing about YOI that's different in comparison to other sports anime is that it's more about the journey rather than the destination. This show centres its narrative on *all forms* of 'love'
Lastly, there are a lot of people who's not used to watching shows with Japanese writing (I'm looking at you western fans). Everything about japanese writing is SUBTEXT. It says/does things in a roundabout way. It doesn't spoon feed you, so you have to pay attention to what the characters are saying; but the way it's delivered is also very in your face.
Though it's far from perfect- it's still a very enjoyable story.
Bruh it's fine to think that this show sucked for you. It is fine to think that it doesn't deserve your aoty. I've said this to so MANY salty haters from CAAWards- the awards themselves made to vote on a popularity poll. therefore any anime with the largest and passionate fandom would win their awards- whether you or others think an anime doesn't deserve it.
it was inevitable. But my question to you is, if you disliked this series so much why are you complaining about it on a video ABOUT said anime you disliked. you could be watching other shows you find 'worthy' of your time and love. are you an M?
i agreee, and im emphasizing the sportmanship because while other skaters are a competitor, but the true competitor/rival is the skater themself, if they skate awfully it's their fault not others, a skater might underpreform even if their actually gold medal material (like yuuri did). well a lot of sport are like this, and i love that yoi handles it well
it's also good how the skating is very true to life. No weird ass moves that aren't possible IRL.

For everyone asking if this Anime is worth watching. Yes it is, if you like sports Anime and romantic Animes. The story isn´t too thrilling, but the performances are really great and just beautifully done. The characters are great (which at least for me is a huge plus) and have an interesting development. The music is just awesome too. If you don´t mind a bit of yaoi, then go ahead and watch it. But don´t worry, the Anime doesn´t focus on anything sexual, but just a little bit on the relationship between Yuri and Victor

Jade Anime Piano What was so great about Mob Psycho 100 or Flip Flappers? Just because animation is different than usual or more colorful does not make it better. I definitely prefer the fluid realism, fantastically crated backgrounds and atmospheric mood color schemes of YOI.
Mob Psycho had different animation styles, animation styles are objective, I personally like CG.Yuri on Ice was just more of the same style. Sure it was good, but nothing noticeable.
As much as I love YOI, if you pay close attention the animations can get pretty bad.

The blades the characters used in the anime were all different and depended on the skater's skating style. Yuri's was the most commonly used blade (sorry Yuri!) It depends on what you like, I thought it was good, but not great. That said, the first episode was a bomb, so you should at least watch it.
If you don't want to be disappointed, just don't get hyped for shows, specially when the show is hyped by everyone else.
It's a pretty cool show that's great peaks really bring down the lesser material. But it's still worth watching despite that, Yuri and Victor's relationship is just really compelling.

Jeffrey Donohue lol this is pretty basic and lame critic tbh. this anime has a lots of fanservice, but the way the treat this fanservice and use it in the story is what stands out to me. they've subverted a lot of cliche tropes that's made it interesting even the seme-uke stereotype that is so prevalent in bl is subverted here. also oversexualized lol. imo it is actually sorta appropriate for the characters for this level of sensuality especially as adult characters. tbh I dont think I can convince you since im a woman eventhough im bi but do talk to gay fans of this show. they exist even if you think they're outnumbered by the fujoshis you hate :).

If you watch yuzuru's 2017 world championship free skate , I thought to myself YURI! The tone and character of the music/dance had a VERY similar feel.though yuzuru did more jumps, the determination to nail them came across. Even the free skate scoring was almost the same...223 or something like that.
