The reason it ran a 13.7 was because it's a convertible. A little bit heavier

Yea, too bad the new ones aren't near as sleek looking as the 4th Gen F-Body's were. New Camaros, Challengers, etc all look like big boxes on the road. Oh, and they are about 1000 lbs heavier now too.

This car's name badge was just The Camaro SS.
In 1996 it was The Z28 SS.

These are cool cars. And a much better match for the LS1 compared to our big heavy Australian Commodores from the same era. But did they have IRS?

      they had live rear axles

It was five generations until the Camaro would get rid of the live axle rear

13.7 seconds in the 1/4 mile? What a bunch of bullshit. My automatic 2001 Z28 ran a 13.5 bone stock. These guys fail.

These cars were very underrated. Most of these came with the LS6 NOT the LS1 and that engine is very fast! I remember working at Dworkin Chevrolet and the owner was a Millionaire and out of all the cars even including the 2005-2007 corvette's he chose this car for daily commute to his dealership. That tells you something. What was disappointing was the markup. They wanted like $40K-$50 used!!!! lol Very beautiful car in person. These Ls6 engines had 385HP!

I like the non facelifted versions looks better , and if my 95 ever needs a new engine it will get an LS1 and a 6 speed . The only new cars that still have style and elegance like the Gen 4 Camaro had , aren't made in America and are anything but cheap . The new Camaro is all boxy looking like a Mustang , and even the new Corvette is all sharp edges instead of the graceful swooping body lines it used to have . When the younger generation gets a hard on for front wheel drive crap from Japan , i shouldn't be surprised that my once loved American cars would get ugly , to get the younger buyers to want to buy .

I actually miss my 97LT1 Camaro White/Black paint scheme. Meanest sexiest Camaro and always got compliments at Gas stations and Bars/Diners. Love the LS1 I have now but miss that LT1 low end grunt torque and sound. That opti spark never went and was original and sold at 153,00 miles. If I ever won the lottery I would buy it back. It's somewhere in CT.

The 4th gens were, by far, the ugliest Camaro's ever produced.
