That’s the point of it … I had it commissioned as a response to the glut of weird baby men on the internet who were annoyed at Rey because “Girls can’t use lightsabers”. It’s a variation of the sarcastic SpongeBob meme that was popular at the time. Cheers.
@@FactFiend That....there's no way in hell anyone said that and actually watches star wars. Ashoka may be the 5th most well received star wars character ever thanks to clone wars and Rebels
@@FactFiend Unfortunately, for a while there, anyone who dared to have a negative opinion of Rey or the Abrams/Johnson trilogy got lumped in with those knuckledraggers.
@@FactFiend it's OK man. Your channel is so successful you're going to get some bloody stupid people watching your content. Congrats on your success man, ignore the literal rubbish people.
@@middlelevelrucksack7693 Unfortunately it's very much a thing that happened. People blamed the issues with Rey's character on her gender. They're a vocal minority but they represent something that is very real and very much a problem.
There was also that women who was a P!nk tribute act who was trying to get away from that and be her own artist and they asked her to sing something by P!nk and Louie Walsh accused her of just being a copy with no originality
I still don't think she was the best singer to start with though, and with some time or a few voice lessons she could have been better like the female judges told her. But as I thought of that event too I wonder if all or any of the judges knew a producer asked her to sing a Pink song. Because the two female judges (sorry can't remember their names for nothing) looked really honestly confused and when one female judge who asked her "When? I didn't tell you to sing a pink song?" I don't believe she was acting, especially since asked her that so calm too. And the girls even asked her to sing another non Pink song to give her a second chance. I do believe a producer 100% told her to sing Pink but idk if I'd say all the judges knew that. Idk if Louie knew they told her that. And what about her violent flip out? Was her whole performance an act then? Did she and some producers plan it? Because she went crazy violent and got banned for life. It's like what is real at all ya know?
@@amandalynn1173 she had already performed and been told she was through because not everyone performs in front of the judges. So it is completely understandable that if you’ve been told that your already through and that they just want the judges to see you and also to sing a pink song because it would be great. To go from that to being mocked and told that you’re not through can be emotionally distressing and when you play with people’s emotions and what essentially is their ambitions and dreams the way they did with her, it’s no wonder she flipped out.
@@seeteasea5497 I know they have some acts perform beforehand infront of a producer or what is sometimes called a music/sound team, and then send them on the audition in front of the judges, where in that case I'd assume I'd still need the main judges yes votes to get through. I'd assume anyone else on the show would realize the same. But after my first post I found that audition and rewatched it to see how I remembered it. And it was just worse for her because the judges didn't mock her, (sorry but saying, "I want to see more of yourself" isn't mocking to me.) They also didn't know someone had told her to sing a Pink song, AND they even gave her a 2nd song, they didn't have to do that. And her no vote wasn't even a mean straight up no, it was a "not today" and it's "not the right time for now." I understand getting your dreams hurt and even thinking since the first group put me through the main judges will too. And then having that moment shock you. I remembered her throwing the Mic my first watch through and thought that's not cool. But the second watch I payed more attention and she attacked 2 crew mates just doing their jobs and tried to break stuff backstage. Really? Is that violence okay? Imagine if everyone who got a "no" acted like that. Their are people who got even meaner "nos" and no 2nd chance with a new song. So since she did get the same chance as everyone else. And no one has the right to ever put their hands on anyone else in anger like that I can't defend her at all.
It becomes a completly different show when you realise that, as a reality show, the contestants are not the main characters; the judges are. Thats why they keep cutting away from the people preforming (or failing at it) to show the judges reactions instead. And that's also why they really like the "sad background"-act, as it lets the judges show of how caring and sympathetic they are to the struggles of their contestants (even those who fake a sad background).
I applied for BGT when I was about 14 (it was to sing bc I was obvs too young for x-factor at the time - sorry Nisha) and it was like an audition FOR the auditions that get shown on the TV. I received a letter to say I wasn’t successful, and didn’t sing again for weeks after bc I was so heartbroken. During this time, the TV show started, and the first person on was a bad singer, and my mum recalled the other day that I literally turned around to her and asked “Was I really that bad?!” bc I genuinely believed I hadn’t been picked bc I was a worse singer than the person we were watching (I feel I should say that I finally got my confidence back a few months later after singing at a school show for my music GCSE and all the adults kept coming up to me after the show and saying how well I did) Reality shows suck
If it's any comfort to you, there could've been a few pretty ruthless but not-at-all-your-fault reasons for you being turned down. One is: you were actually pretty good, but not *outstandingly* good, but also not so bad they could humiliate you for it. Two, it could've been because you had no 'underdog' qualities - you weren't unattractive, overweight or had some other quality you could've been bullied for - remember, these shows aren't so much about finding the next true star, they're about creating a fairytale with a 'happy ending,' for the average Joe viewer to imagine themselves in the 'hero's' place and say "Well, if HE can do it, maybe I can too...!" And thirdly, if you had little to no social media presence - because then they can't make any money off you regardless of how far you get in the competition. Part of the contract they make all tv auditionees' sign involves you signing over ALL RIGHTS to ALL your social media content - i.e. TH-cam/Instagram/Tiktok videos, Facebook and Twitter - to them, for a period of five years after your televised audition. And this means EVERYTHING; everything you've ever created, and everything you create in the next five years. What that means in real terms is that any monetization that comes from your content (like on Tiktok/TH-cam videos for example,) now goes directly to THEM instead of YOU (if they're feeling generous, they 'might' let you have a percentage, but they'll decide how much that is, if it's anything at all.) You also can't post anything new to ANY of your social media sites (including Facebook and Twitter) without obtaining their permission first. For FIVE YEARS. Think of it this way - you dodged a massive bullet. You'll be better off making it on your own than selling your soul to SyCo.
Basically. And I hope this isn’t taken as an offence because a lot of pre-teens and teens apply to sing. But basically what that meant was that you weren’t bad enough to make fun of for entertainment but you weren’t good enough to get onto the show as a winning act. So it wasn’t that you were awful. It’s sort of a back handed compliment in a way.
I can remember the year Pudsey the Dog won, one of my friends was part of the choir that was one of the runners up and he's still bitter about losing to a dog.
A precursor to "Chip Tune" was the band Atari Teenage Riot, who integrated atari console samples into their blend of electronic and hardcore punk, a sound the band coined as "Digital Hardcore".
Is this what’s called 8 Bit which does remind me of Atari games of 40 years ago ? There’s 8 Bit versions of complicated Prog rock albums from the early 70s which is a hoot due to the ‘ simplification’ of all the music becoming so stripped down .
You have to remember that at the time atari had a huge feud with amiga in popularity and while amiga featured real 4channel stereo which could with the right apps(octalyzer) be turned into 8) atari (although if recall correct had 3 channel stereo) had a huge advantage as it featured as factory default no extra cards needed a midi port that could be connected to synths
They actually brought that plagiarist comedian back onto the show to do his 'own material' after he was caught (he bombed). I always thought he missed the perfect opportunity to double or triple down and make THAT his act - do world famous jokes that obviously don't apply to him, jokes about how fat he is by John Candy, jokes about being an old woman by Joan Rivers, or jokes about growing up poor by Chris Rock. Turn the plagiarism into the joke.
This might be a wonderfully funny idea, but just with making up new jokes which don’t apply to you at all fat guy talking about his skinny people problems and such lol
So for those of you who don't know who Oliver is... He also has a channel called Oliver age 24, he also did Collab's back in the early 2010's with Area 11 and boy in a band and he is now the fall guys community director... so you might know him from one of those things (Also I'm happy this story is getting coverage I remembered when it happened and it pissed me off to no end)
The most jarring thing I found watching America's got talent was the complete lack of bad acts, sat through an entire episode of auditions and the only 'no' that I saw was for a guy that came back 3 times and got a yes on the third attempt(very clearly staged by the producers that way), apparently US showrunners must think that American audiences are all too sensitive to handle any of the bad ones, yet here in the UK they bring in bad acts just to mock them, hard to say which is worse really
You obviously haven't seen our show for while. The whole format has really changed now, since mental health promotion they can't get away with anymore. It's actually boring just seeing 'good' acts all the time. But it was very painful watching obviously unstable people being taken advantage of for entertainment. So glad it's changed.
Bad acts in the US were a lot more common in the early 00s. Now corporate sanitization is in full swing because of cancel culture and the desperate need to patronize viewers.
Years ago I did a quiz show for ITV (I didn't get picked I just ended up sat in the audience for hours on end), and Stephen Mulhern presented it, super weird seeing how he changes from "loveable scamp" on camera, to total diva stropping arse the second the cameras stop rolling. Also fun, in the studio next door Jeremy Kyle was filming and topic of the day was "My medium says you're gay, are you cheating on me with my dad?"

You guys made me think of this death metal screamer gal who popped up on both America's Got Talent and American Idol and was roundly mocked on both in spite of technically doing something that is deceptively difficult.
In agt there was a singer who was caught lying about his sob story and was cut before the 2nd round despite passing. Also the teenage boy dancer who performed a highschool musical inspired basketball dance but was not happy about it. He complsined about it on tv and was voted off that round.
Chiptune (specifically from the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, and mostly the original Sonic the Hedgehog soundtrack) is one of the reasons I got into learning how to play and compose music, as well as learning how to program. It's indeed rather insulting that those producers would've treated the band like that if that is how it went down.
Ben Elton's book, Chart Throb, is supposed to be a satirical take on these sorts of shows. However, it's exactly how you've said it here. Well worth the read...
My nephew went to the x factor as a solo singer and they decided to get all these solo singers together, they wanted a band of 4 singers together. My nephew said there was around 15 of them and they would keep changing the 4 people around to see the best fit, in the end they had two 4 singer bands, but they also wanted them to dance, my nephew is not a dancer. The other 4 singer band was selected to go on the show. None of them were selected to go on as solo singers.
In 1964 my family lived in Chicago there was a Sinclair Gas Station down the street . as a promotion they were touring these massive dinosaurs around two places that were near the gas stations, they were giving out wax replicas of the dinosaurs that were in the Caravan. It was this stegosaurus the T-Rex the Triceratops I believe and the one that's on your desk there which at that time was known as a brontosaurus. That's the one that I got. They were wax figures that were pressed on site with the machine that they brought with them. They cost $0.25. I can actually still remember the smell.
Intresting fact about Miley was that her dad was against her being a star. It was her mother and encouragement from Dolly that led her to audition for Disney
Sam Battle AKA "LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER" would be amazing to see gain more recognition. Speaking on the point that BGT should be inclusive of talents that ate varied.
The 1D thing you mentioned I believe it was niall the judges says he had the looks nd the charm but tht doesnt always get you stardom and tht he needs to work more on his voice across them lines anyway
Fun fact about me, not only did I audition for the same show Justin Bieber was 'discovered' on, my uncle taught him how to play bass when he lived in Stratford
My friends had an amazing band that were in direct competition with another huge name act. So they were signed up by the record company that had already signed their rivals. They were promised the world, only to be shelved and not allowed to release material or to perform in order that they would no longer be a threat to their competition. Basically, they could have been massive but their carrers were over and the band split up because of it :(
Chiptune, and music of a similar sound is its own sub-genre known as “Nintendocore”. Agreed, a very niche genre, but bands like I Fight Dragons and NESkimos are worth a listen
When I found out that America's Got Talent was clearly video editing a certain winning magician's act to make it look amazing instead of completely idiotic as it must have looked in real life, they lost all credibility for me. And I realized if they were willing to go that far, that the judges must simply be shilling for all the "mentalist" acts. Which if you realize the judge is only being a shill for a mentalist, makes the mentalist act just incredibly lame.
Hanna Montana did the drastic changes to distance herself from the previous kid-friendly appearance she had obtained, making herself way more 'adult themed' than what the natural processes of change would have resulted in.

You don't have to circuit bend a gameboy or these pieces of equipment to use them musically. It does takes some external hardware and stuff but to play a gameboy as a musician instrument I just use an audrinoboy and a cart with the midi menu stuff. I am not a chip tune artist but use these sounds fairly regularly. I realize you probably grabbed a definition of chip tune from a gameboy, but you can make that kind of music without circuit bending anything.. fun fact from a musician who is a fan.
My ex girlfriend was on Australia's Got Talent. She was an assistant in a Freak Show/Circus type thing. They hadn't been actively performing in years but the production team tracked them down and invited them to perform on the show. Sitting waiting backstage for like 9 hours I saw so many backstage interviews with various acts, and the amount of prompting and coaching by the interviewing producers was crazy. The contestant would start of saying one thing and by the end, they'd end up spinning some elaborate sob/inspirational story that in no way resembled the truth.
I just remembered another interview. They were interviewing a young girl who appeared to be the captain of their gymnastics group. "So what made you guys want to enter the competition?" "You asked us to come in"
I worked with a juggler that wanted to go on the show, they tried writing a one sided contract that the artist refused to sign this was 2 hours before a live show! In the end he performed and refused to sign but was allowed on as they had nobody else to fill! In the end he did not sign the contract they wanted rights to everything from an established working stage show and branding.
So, I'm Australian, one of the Australia's got talent shows had a pair of twins I went to school with, within an episode or two they became some of the most hated people in the country. They were pretty conceited and oblivious but the show blew it out of proportion to the extent I heard they received death threats. One could sorta sing, one could sort of play an instrument, but for some reason they tried to do both together, and it failed hard. (for just an idea of what it was like search OMG! The Twins Didn't Make It - X Factor Australia 2011) :/ Also, the meme with that guy in the audience surprised with his mouth way open (search Australia’s Got Talent 2016 Promo) went to my school too. (So weird seeing him in memes all the time) Yea, Australia’s Got Talent made multiple people from my school famous/infamous. But looking back on it now its so toxic the way they take advantage of people
A friend of mine got through the first rounds of auditions for Australian Idol and is genuinely talented enough he could have won it, but when he saw the contract, he immediately noped out. The amount of rights and money these people take is insane. You're signing over total control of your life for 10 years and you will see almost none of it, even before you get ripped off by Guy Sebastian's manager.
@@NicolaiParsons From what I've heard (and I could be very wrong) its not that much more exploitative than the industry as a whole, thats more of a comment on just how bad the entire industry is though, it is still worse but its not exactly an outlier. And yea usually these kinds of things are essentially deals with the devil, sure they might be what you need to get your name out there and get big, but now they effectively own your career.
@@james14294 You may well be right, though I think record companies may not quite get as much control over your day-to-day life in many Western countries, this is getting towards the absolutely crazy contracts K-Pop stars and actors are under where they literally have weight and measurement requirements in the contracts as well as total control of your living circumstances and everything. Also, the friend told me about 10 years ago now, so I'm sure the industry has learned some more exploitations in the meantime.
A lot of the talent shows are a modern day "Gong Show". Some deliberately bad acts thrown in for laughs, and a few that are real but had no idea they were the joke.
For most of these shows the judges audition is actually the second stage. You have to perform to the producers first before they decide if you go infront of the TV judges. If someone is shit, you know that the producers have already seen them and essentially put them on stage to be laughed at.
What annoys me about this kind of show is Jedwood. Not because they themselves are bad, but because they're part of how the shows are a scam. The thing is, these shows are _not_ really about finding a new star, but getting ratings for themselves. The show needed drama, it needed conflict. When you think about shows like _Big Brother,_ the only people who stand out are the villains and arseholes. People watch these shows and call in to vote them off. I'm not proud, I fell for myself! The only time I voted on Big Brother was to evict some woman who was constantly antagonistic off the show! Whatever you think of Boyzone or Westlife personally, you have to admit they sell. Louis Walsh knows how to pick and package them. So why would an intelligent producer pick a couple of tone-deaf morons as his new protégés? It's because the show needed a villain. It needed conflict between the "heroic" Simon Cowell and the villainous Walsh and his two talentless minions. I don't really want to have a go at Jedwood, who are either just clueless pawns or just doing it for "the craic" but it shows how cynical and manipulative these shows are.
Yeah I agree with you there. And hey, from what I remember, Jedwood did a fair bit on children's entertainment so its not like they don't have a place - I think they did well there. I was never a fan, but I wasn't the target demographic
It's the ANTIVOTE. They realised how much money was to be made tricking the audience into thinking they were voting against the wishes of the show. Lord Wagner was the highpoint.
Forgot to say, re Jedwood have been very outspoken in recent years about how they were treated. The media tried to portray them as only bringing this up when their fame ran dry, yet a big part of their argument was against the extensive Non Disclosure Agreements everyone on the show has to sign. See also Steve Brookstein, 1st ever winner of X-Factor who has been whitewashed from their history as he has consistently called the show out on their flaws.
TwoSetViolin have a number of videos on how those shows misrepresent “Classical” music. They don’t even seem to have a basic musical knowledge when they critique it.
To be fair to Stephen Mulhern, it is his sort of thing to take the piss out of everyone on the majority of the shows he is on as it’s his character, to take the piss blindly when he’s equally as lame or stupid. It is on purpose.
I mean most of what he said about Justin beber is true but all I can think of when I think of his is that his most famous song in the last few years (love yourself) was actually written by Ed sheeran, and when you look at songs Ed wrote and sold they are most always incredibly famous which is more amazing
Yeah its 100% bull of a show. My cousins were invited to Australia got talent and its was just to have a band who mixed aboriginal lingo and english lyrics, so they could use them for the ads
Unreal TV series is bloody brilliant for fictionalising the push and pull of producers in reality TV and the lengths they will go to (maybe slightly exaggerated but not much) to manipulate people into naively depicting a storyline without even knowing they're doing it.
i mean here in Denmark we got a Reality show called. "Paradise Hotel" just a bunch of intrigue, conflict and friction between people. i mean one season a guy won in the end due to being a Psychology student and he just manipulated with those people. not to mention that sometimes on thoese shows they edit and make the contestants just act out in embaresseing ways for the glorious "5 min fame" that for some reason people at time strive for.
You never know. Jonathan and Charlotte came in second to a dog act. But now Charlotte is working in musicals and Jonathan has a successful career in opera singing.
imo only thing the Got Talent shows are consistently good for is being a ground zero for Nathan Barnett hijinks. there's the rare amazing act or so in the mix sometimes, but those have to be specifically sought out (ie Nightbirde)
I auditioned in Manchester for the very first "The Voice". I'm just tall enough to not be a dwarf, obese and use a walking stick. Got to audition with a group of twelve. Two out of each group went to the next round. I had the room screaming and the vocal coach jumping with joy. The producer didn't budge. We had to wait outside for the judgement. Everyone in the group including staff were saying I could win the whole competition. Didn't get through. Producer said no. Coach said yes. They put through a middle aged busker and a less than average young pretty girl. The girl ended up on the show after the next round.
A friend of mine is one of the top jugglers/ circus performers in the country and was also invited to BGT but he refused because of things like this. Simon hates these sorts of acts
I funny story about this, my Uncle who is a professional singer was invited on to BGT just so that a gag could be made out of them, they were told this was why before hand but when he told me about it I lost all respect for it
It seems so obvious when you see that a number of acts appear on several different shows in different countries. Somebody either in production or their management been very busy manufacturing the media.
I started watching Oliver age 24 back when he only had like 4 videos. He worked with the company that made Happy Tree Friends or something, which I used to watch, and when he first started his channel, they featured one of his vidoes on their chanel. So I was one of his first subscribers. He was really funny at first, but after 3 or 4 vidoes you'd basically seen them all, Neefs artwork became the only part with watching for, and eventually he stopped featuring Neef at the end, so his videos became uninteresting. His main channels been dead for years.
What made it even worse with the cheating dog who won, is that it meant Jonathon and Charlotte came SECOND to them - and they were *absolutely* the best act that year! (Doesn't matter too much now, since both Jonathon and Charlotte went on to way bigger and better things, and... oh yeah, where is that 'winning' dog act now...?) Oh yeah, and these talent shows absolutely are a HUGE scam. There are several established TH-camrs who've been approached by them (RoomieOfficial is one) but turned them down. I recommend looking into the OUTRAGEOUS contract these tv shows make auditionees sign too - they are borderline illegal in how many rights (monetary and otherwise) to auditionees' OWN CONTENT they basically STEAL from them for a five-year period.
In the Americas got talent the singer clay aken was the most popular through out the competition and would have won by the audience, but the company chose some one less popular to win. So a christen gospel singer one the contest and then immediately faded in to obscurity. And Clay Aken lost but went on to have a good carrier.
One thing that has really pissed me off with these reality singing shows is exactly what Nisha said its somewhat scripted my sister was obsessed with the voice and there was one singer actually in particular which I identified without having even seeing the TV which was cassadee pope who went on to win but 2 years earlier her band Hey Monday was nominated to win band of the year.
It's basically a reality show with musical theatrics and perhaps less clarity to contestants...but while not precisely a reality show, it certainly plays off of harshly criticizing contestants, or at the least focusing on the shortcomings and vulnerabilities of anyone who comes along to perform in front of the camera. I honestly can't watch shows like this; it becomes cringy and painful, at times, and it feels cruel to humiliate people that are struggling to prove themselves. I was surprised I ever got to learn about Nightbirde, that precious woman, before her recent passing; she was one of the few in America's Got Talent that became a symbol of hope, versus another shamed person painted as delusional and talentless. Probably because of how real and wise she had become, with her circumstances. But so glad I regionally didn't have much access at all to the UK equivalent of the show; what shitters the heads of BGT sounded like... ...otherwise, I couldn't really get into JB's music; wasn't too fond of him, growing up, but it was partially the influence of bandwagon mentality when many of my adolescent peers were hating on him, back then. Some girls happily declared their appreciation for Beiber and his music, but his sound never truly appealed to me, and I made the childish decision to follow the haters' bandwagon and was more vehement in my foolishness, than if I had just reasonably concluded his works didn't vibe with me and moved on. Made it harder to leave the bandwagon after the media would criticize Justin's misbehaviors as an adult, and I'll admit that hearing of those less flattering moments of his did paint him as a nastier human being than the public image he had built up, throughout the years...thinking on it, the media focused so hard at that time to pounce on every screw-up of his, it certainly felt like certain aspects of media were purposefully trying to tear him down. And my being aware as an adult of how easily media could manipulate further disdain or other strong emotions like that only reminds me further of why I don't watch basic American tv shows, anymore. Not even news outlets; it's easier to just access info I need through youtube or search engines. Still need to better analyze things, because sometimes I jump too quickly on an opinion, and learn later on that I was too hasty and foolish with that initial bias. As for Miley Cyrus, she was more relatable for me; aside from being a fellow woman who went through crazy phases as a young adult in an attempt at trying to find her own identity, after having little control over her own childhood, she also seemed to maintain her personal life in a better manner than a lot of stars that went through similar scenarios. Gotta give kudos to someone who can come out relatively okay, after what she's gone through. Yet all the more why nowadays I fret for kid stars, when considering the potential problems they can encounter that other children their age may not ever experience themselves, and therefore will not understand.
screen is green! and the dinosaur's cloak tech appears to be malfunctioning... lol. seriously, i love it, what artifacts you guys choose to keep/incorporate vs correct. it's very visually stimulating to watch for them. :)
Look at the story of the 60s group The Monkees. They actively worked to expose the nonsense of the music business and the plastic phoniness behind manufacturing bands.
I can't remember the artists name but they used a chiptune sample taken from a C64 artist (the C64 being a popular choice for this kind of Music thanks to it's SID chip) without permisson and when called up on it they pretty much wrote him off as just some random nerd who wasn't worth their time so it was ok to steal it. I still regret not finishing a project myself of converting a Gameboy to run as an instrument (the kits are online and the Gameboy will still work as a normal Gameboy if desired) as they are bloody cool.
I don't know if it was BGT or the X Factor, but the producers approached a youtuber who specialized in K-pop covers inviting her on. They encouraged her to dress K-pop style and sing a k-pop song. When she got in front of the judges? "Why you singing in Korean?" "why you dressed like that?". I cannot confirm if any of this actually aired though, I don't watch.
I know all shows of this kind are a bit like this. But the one show I like more because I see very little mocking is the voice. Because even when the singer's don't get a chair turn they don't get mocked and everyone who is invited on the show can somewhat sing, like the singer's are pre screened by producers before the blind auditions so that they don't put acts on that are terrible and set up to fail. Like how America idol made the most fame off the craziest people than monopolized on them, rather than finding good talent and lifting that up.
There's a theory that Miley's wild Party and twerking phase was designed to be so offensive to Disney that they would let her out of her contract, so she could go be her own artist.
Okay I never understood why people were up in arms about the dog on a tightrope, the lady STILL TRAINED A DOG TO WALK ON A TIGHTROPE! It's not like she bought a dog someone else trained.
Yeah, they were all her dogs she trained them, okay it was dishonest but probably worse is the fact many dogs have performed tricks on the show outlawed by the Kennel Club.
Im gonna be that person..... Accessing the oscillator and wiring it to a potentiometer isnt that technical. You just need some basic soldering skills and maybe a datasheet. Back in the day, we called it polyphonic. Because it was a special thing having a chip that could make many (poly) tones (phonic) at once from the same IC. I have no idea why people glommed on to the phrase 'chiptune', its the same thing we used to program our own ring tones with back when if you dropped your phone in your car, you had to get a new car. But yeah, its mostly done by loading music making ROMs with an onboard Arduino(or as they're actually called, microcontroller(yes, kiddies, Arduino is just a framework and firmware. otherwise there is nothing special about the MCU(micro controller unit not marvel cinematic universe, and no one that works with electronics thinks that joke is funny))). Though I will say, musical ability is certainly a skill. If you dont know how notes flow together, you wont be doing much with that modified gameboy. Although, anyone who would modify a classic gameboy is a monster....those chips are a dime a dozen. While you're at it, get a few of the see 'n' say voice chips. Now THOSE things were cool! I must be losing brain cells...it hasn't been that long since I saw this video, but I didn't remember until halfway through. Used to be, comedians sold tons of albums. I'd have never become half the George Carlin fan I am (I once made semi-fake IDs for my wife and I, so we could go see him free), if he hadn't put out so many excellent albums. The people running the "reality" shows deserve some serious punishments. They do hurt people with their mistreatment, but they don't give a fuck. I'd be happy to see the people playing these nasty games end up broke and ignored.
Now we just need a little girl to write him a letter and tell him to grow a beard so that her brothers will vote for him, and we can have president Karl!
I hate that stupid Rey shirt, it makes no sense as there are plenty female Jedi that came before her.
That’s the point of it …
I had it commissioned as a response to the glut of weird baby men on the internet who were annoyed at Rey because “Girls can’t use lightsabers”.
It’s a variation of the sarcastic SpongeBob meme that was popular at the time.
Cheers.

There was also that women who was a P!nk tribute act who was trying to get away from that and be her own artist and they asked her to sing something by P!nk and Louie Walsh accused her of just being a copy with no originality
I was thinking of that, too!
I think they also played the song in a different tune in her ear to make her look out of tune
They are rooted in truth, but they have all been fluffed up by the produces for the show,
I applied for BGT when I was about 14 (it was to sing bc I was obvs too young for x-factor at the time - sorry Nisha) and it was like an audition FOR the auditions that get shown on the TV. I received a letter to say I wasn’t successful, and didn’t sing again for weeks after bc I was so heartbroken. During this time, the TV show started, and the first person on was a bad singer, and my mum recalled the other day that I literally turned around to her and asked “Was I really that bad?!” bc I genuinely believed I hadn’t been picked bc I was a worse singer than the person we were watching
(I feel I should say that I finally got my confidence back a few months later after singing at a school show for my music GCSE and all the adults kept coming up to me after the show and saying how well I did)
Reality shows suck
Imagine having to explain its because you weren't bad enough.
If it's any comfort to you, there could've been a few pretty ruthless but not-at-all-your-fault reasons for you being turned down.
One is: you were actually pretty good, but not *outstandingly* good, but also not so bad they could humiliate you for it.
Two, it could've been because you had no 'underdog' qualities - you weren't unattractive, overweight or had some other quality you could've been bullied for - remember, these shows aren't so much about finding the next true star, they're about creating a fairytale with a 'happy ending,' for the average Joe viewer to imagine themselves in the 'hero's' place and say "Well, if HE can do it, maybe I can too...!"
And thirdly, if you had little to no social media presence - because then they can't make any money off you regardless of how far you get in the competition.
Imagine Dave Grohl, Bob Dylan or Mick Jagger trying to make it on [country] got talent.

Were they actually "bad acts" or simply presented that way?
The whole point of the show is "America's got talent" not "America's got random people from the streets"

Chiptune (specifically from the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, and mostly the original Sonic the Hedgehog soundtrack) is one of the reasons I got into learning how to play and compose music, as well as learning how to program. When I found out that America's Got Talent was clearly video editing a certain winning magician's act to make it look amazing instead of completely idiotic as it must have looked in real life, they lost all credibility for me. fun fact about Oliver Hindle, he is the guy who runs the Fall Guys Twitter account
"So what made you guys want to enter the competition?"
"You asked us to come in"
I remember discovering Oliver Hindle through his drawing tutorials. Now I know how to draw really good.
A lot of the talent shows are a modern day "Gong Show". Some deliberately bad acts thrown in for laughs, and a few that are real but had no idea they were the joke.
My favourite time was when Lee Nelson pretended to be a Rabbi to fool the studio team. But one person managed to catch on.
For most of these shows the judges audition is actually the second stage. You have to perform to the producers first before they decide if you go infront of the TV judges.
If someone is shit, you know that the producers have already seen them and essentially put them on stage to be laughed at.
“How about another joke Murray”
Man Karl and the entire crew really work hard to provide some epic content!

To be fair to Stephen Mulhern, it is his sort of thing to take the piss out of everyone on the majority of the shows he is on as it’s his character, to take the piss blindly when he’s equally as lame or stupid. It is on purpose.
I mean most of what he said about Justin beber is true but all I can think of when I think of his is that his most famous song in the last few years (love yourself) was actually written by Ed sheeran, and when you look at songs Ed wrote and sold they are most always incredibly famous which is more amazing

i mean here in Denmark we got a Reality show called.
(Doesn't matter too much now, since both Jonathon and Charlotte went on to way bigger and better things, and... oh yeah, where is that 'winning' dog act now...?)
Oh yeah, and these talent shows absolutely are a HUGE scam.

I really like this episode, idk because I surely don't care about Britain's Got Talent. Good energy today, Karl.
Today i learnt that the guy who make cover music with calculators is called a chiptune artist.
Thank you for introducing me to such a great band
I don't know if it was BGT or the X Factor, but the producers approached a youtuber who specialized in K-pop covers inviting her on. They encouraged her to dress K-pop style and sing a k-pop song. When she got in front of the judges? "Why you singing in Korean?" "why you dressed like that?". I cannot confirm if any of this actually aired though, I don't watch.
Hey guys, Oliver Hindle is actually a friend of mine, Ive sent him the video I hope you dont mind
All Hail the Wool Man! Leader of the Southern Lands!
Like how America idol made the most fame off the craziest people than monopolized on them, rather than finding good talent and lifting that up.
omg i love the green screened dinosaur
Sounds like a defamation lawsuit
There's a theory that Miley's wild Party and twerking phase was designed to be so offensive to Disney that they would let her out of her contract, so she could go be her own artist.
I really hope that they didn’t ruin their career with a contract. The Gots talents, have horrid contracts.
I remember this happening on my news feed.
Oliver's cool man.
He rapped his way into a Games Industry job a few years after.
it was fine the first season but now its like the only way to win is to have a sad backstory
So called "reality tv" is still ( and always has been) highly produced.
The best part of this video was discovering this band
Have a digital singer and play them by pressing a series of buttons!
Real talk though, fuck every iteration of got talent. Sure, Ive been exposed to some neat niche acts I otherwise would not have come across, but seriously fuck pop and screw the vapid twats who make those shows. Not everyone enjoys your flash in the pan 15 minutes of fame here today ODd tomorrow pop trash!
That Australian Comedian's teeth are insane. Jordan Paris.
How do we get that tshirt. It is awesome! It's not in the merch store thought :(
I dont comment much but love the sauropod on that bottle there.
IS THAT OLIVER, AGE 24??!!
Rick Waller got kicked out of Celebrity Fit Club for binge eating - It was the only thing he was really good at
I don't know how I'm just now noticing Kyle looks like Abe Lincoln
Fucking hell he does!
Now we just need a little girl to write him a letter and tell him to grow a beard so that her brothers will vote for him, and we can have president Karl!
