Admittedly, I don't normally search for this genre of music but I was flipping tv and saw a girl singing this song. It made me stop and listen to what she was pouring out of her soul. It was a beautiful rendition. Now I'm listening to Demi and I hear her. I hear her expression of her fears, doubts and pain. I feel this. It makes me feel for her. Beautiful
You can hear the pain, and struggles she has been through from her voice. She's not alone, I can relate, and wish I could hug her, and tell her never to give up hope. She is such a talented young woman, and I have loved her music, and her for years.
She actually overdosed a day or two after recording this. That makes this song even more gutting, especially if you have been in that situation and felt the need to numb because you feel so alone.

Feeling like you're internally torn apart. There was somebody who met me in that place, and it was Jesus. This is not religion, it is nothing superficial. I never really liked religion, but that's not what it is. I never knew me, before I knew Him.
If you have never seen her documentary "dancing with the devil" about her journey and inspiration for this song I highly reccomend it... as somone who absolutely adored and looked up to her as a yound girl, her story is so inspiring!! She helped me so much when i first got clean... 16 months sober today!

The lord listens ,he sees,he feels that moment when you feel no one is listening is when he's actually listens the most he's always there (Shammah is his name).A broken and contrite heart he will not despise. In darkest times and moment just know the creator sees you believe in your heart and trust that he's going to make things better. For I know the plans that I think towards you declares the lord ,plans of good and not of evil ,plans to prosper you and being all your expectations according to his will to an excellent end. I became an alcoholic, went down a really dark hole. I'm sober today, and heard this song the other day. It's been on repeat for days. She is with me in the end, too. Demi has always been there, at different times, good and bad.

I'm crying, this song reminds me of my sister who commited suicide in sep 14 2016 all i could think about while listenning to this song is 'is this how my sister felt ' especially when she says ' I tried and tried and tried some more' cuz I remember how my sister tried so hard to get out of her depression but couldn't make it in the end and I also wish that I was that 'anyone' that understood her and held her hand through it all but i was so naive and didnt even understand what depression was at the time , if only I could bring back time I would tell her how much I loved her and how worthy and loved she is
