- Napkins are manufactured in high cost machines only. The cost of the machine is about 75 lacs to 2.5 crores. These machines are generally run by multinational companies only. By seeing the napkins whiteness, people who are interested to make these napkins feel that the material used for napkin manufacture is cotton. They used viscose cloth to wrap the cotton. The cotton has a tendency to absorb the liquid, but is releases under slightest pressure or sqeeze,Due to this simple reason acceptability and salability became tougher which led to collapse of these industries. But on automated plant big companies are not using cotton instead they are using wood pulp. Wood pulp and non woven fabrics are generally procured in roll forms that can be processed on high cost machines only. The nature of the wood pulp is that it will absorb and retain the liquid even under pressure .This would give a dry feel to the user. Thus users are satisfied. Now by this just Rs.75,000 worth new invention mini sanitary napkin unit that runs on simple technology can be process the wood pulp and the non woven fabric , and even a rural women can manufacture superior saleable napkins at a fraction of cost compared to big company manufacturing units.

The average income of women became Rs. 2000-3500/month. Generally in rural areas cloth is being used during the menstrual periods. Due to this unhygienic method used by rural women lead to fungal infection and may sometime worsen to uterus cancer in women. Even adolescent girls got affected by this unhygienic practice. The reason is that even that they know about the sanitary napkin the cost of the napkins manufactured by multinationals was not affordable. In this situation with this mini sanitary napkin unit, napkins can be manufactured at low costs (50%less) without compromising the quality of the napkin. Thus napkins manufactured on this low cost unit are easily saleable in rural areas. These will a boon for women self help groups and women entrepreneurs in rural and urban areas also. They have cloth pads in the same available absorbancies as disposable pads come in. You can buy both light flow, medium flow, & heavy flow (and even extra heavy flow!) pads. It just depends on the layers of absorbancies inside the pad. For example, a heavy bleeder can buy cloth pads with 3-4 layers of bamboo or hemp fleece inside (SUPER absorbant fabrics). There are many work at home moms on Etsy and other bigger companies like Party In My Pants that sell cloth pads. They are awesome!

I've following suggestions to u. (These r applicable to compete with the J&J and p&G) 1) designing different napkin shapes like the big ones does.
2) Improving napkin pack cover. 3) Promoting this with urban gals so that it can spread like a wildfire (Not by spending millions of rupees through advertisements).
N.B:- Please provide hand gloves and nose protector to protect employees from dust or allergy.

are simply "rags" that a lot of third world countries use simply because they cannot find anything else to use. Same in Africa, where girls and women have to scramble to find old, dirty rags, newspapers, pieces of mattresses, etc are unhygenic. But, cloth pads by itself is the safest and healthiest alternative to disposables. There are MANY cloth pad makers around the world right now and there are organizations that create and donate cloth pads to third world countries and it is loved dearly.
You know madam, this product is targeted for rural women who can not afford expensive sanitary pads. Quality is ensured. But, yes the technology has been developed by the founder himself. Somehow, I think this slower manufacturing process is good for India. This is because this manufactuory process need more "human power", and then result more employment for India, especially ladies. More people can have stable income because of this process.
What I mean is that the process rely less on mechine and more on human power, which is good for a social like India with large population.
I live in a place which salaries are expensive. So, my concern is different from yours.

The mini pad production machine may be a great idea but the sealing machines and the core forming machine made by Arunachalam Muruganantham is not good at all. We got 2 sets of the production equipment and 2 of the sealing machines they have never worked. the core forming machine equally fragile.
They are so insensitve to our plight. All those organisations in India giving him awards here and there may be coluding with him to reap the world of our hard end money.
we were told that the capacity of the machine will be 120 pics per hour its all a lie.

It would have been beter to have a machine to sterilise those. I mean, no offence, i'd rather use cheap, yellowed sanitary napkins than non-sterelised ones!

Ha. Cloth pads/napkins are acceptable. This pollutes the environment and makes more problems that it solves.
Maybe hotter water and more education about the care of cloth pads is needed.
I must make a comment about "unhygenic" cloth sanitary pads. You are dead wrong. Cloth menstrual pads are extremely hygenic and are becoming more and more popular around the world now. Disposable pads are very bad for the body because the chemicals used in making them. The chemicals in them create dioxins, which are cancer causing.
