    BUT if everyone is using constrast colors, if you don't use them you will be the one with the contrast.

    • @WespaVesaAijala
      @WespaVesaAijala 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yes. If everybody is standing out with the same tactics, you can stand out with something orginal. Like some channels do it with Office Paint made pictures or titles like "house" (no capital letter on front and just house as a text).
      I also think that thumbnail that has a face that has normal look (not over acted like many thumbnails have) will get more clicks nowadays cos they will stand out and feels more natural. People don´t like when thumbnail face emotion is over acted, it is form of clickbait and not cool.

    I've been making curiosity based thumbnails since 2020, growth has been exponentially.
    My perspective is that thumbnails are mostly curiosity based, they must first grab attention and then make the user thinks "wtf is this about?"
    That will make the user read the tittle to understand what the thumb was about, the purpose of the tittle then is to generate context, interest and build up on the curiosity. The user then may go back to the thumbnail once again and now the thumbnail makes sense... and then the click on it.
    PS: open curiosity never worked for me (generating just curiosity, no context/interest)
    If the video subject is not interesting enough, it's our job to find an angle to sell it and make it the most interesting possible.
    Retention wise, the curiosity generated on thumb+tittle must be addressed as soon as possible in the intro, video must be always opening and closing loops to keep retention.

    I only started to realise this recently! My latest video has performed so much better because of this. I looked and scanned at other videos covering the same topic, and made a thumbnail to what was already working, but made sure it had extra bits to make them intrigued to click. And it’s the best performing video on my channel so far! Gem of a video bro

      @Intothings give it a shot! When you make a video, look to see what’s working, views wise, what’s not, and make a thumbnail similar, but different at the same time. Since Iv been doing this, my click through rate has been better, my fallout video has a 8.4% click through rate. Where as all my others are below 4%. So it works very well bro

  • @TopFactology

    • @oscarowenbusiness
      @oscarowenbusiness  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +29

      Not at all. I say multiple times that you don't want to clickbait. The important thing is you need a crazy good video idea with a strong opinion. That way you can use high impact language without it being clickbait. Does that make sense? It all starts from the idea. If you have a weak idea and put a crazy thumbnail it is clickbait. If you have a strong idea and have a crazy thumbnail its not clickbait!

    But more often than not. an exiting grabbing thumbnail is followed by a video nowhere near what the thumbnail suggests. & so now. When i see a thumbnail with...say a wide eyed exited person on....i just scroll past because of constantly being disappointed & wasting time. If people have the same interest as what's in the video. They'll watch it to check it out....eye popping thumbnail or no eye popping thumbnail. Most people just want people who have the same interests to like their video...& make a bit money maybe as well. & are probably not bothered about trying to catch the attention of fast scrolling zombies.

    • @oscarowenbusiness
      @oscarowenbusiness  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s why I say in point one the secret to a great thumbnail is a great idea. You are correct - amazing thumbnail and terrible video is clickbait. Hence you need an amazing idea first and then the thumbnail can represent that.

  • @tech.inspector
    @tech.inspector 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I see one major problem here:
    Normally I would use the keywords in my titles that describe the topic of my video the best.
    These are the keywords that people type in the most to search for this topic. For example I create tutorials and people find my videos because they search for them. Example:
    "Home Assistant Dashboard (german) - Easily create a nice design"
    This has all the important and most searched keywords in it - but no curiosity.
    BUT if I try to convert this title into one that has curiosity like:
    "The last Dashboard in Home Assistant you EVER need"
    Now the titles lacks important high searched keywords like "design", "german", "create".
    So if I create a good title that has curiosity then it lacks a few of the major keywords that people use to search for this video.
    People that search for this video wont find it as good as if I used the most searched keywords in it.

    • @oscarowenbusiness
      @oscarowenbusiness  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep this is a good point. There are two main types of content on TH-cam - search based content and browsed based content. Search (what you are referring to, is more focused around solving a particular problem or issue that the person is actively searching for) - so you are right, you want a more keyword focused title. Browse is when something is just randomly selected for you and shown to you with the TH-cam algorithm - that is when the tips in this video apply more. That being said - if you want to ‘blow up’ browse is the fastest way to do it. Search is more for the longterm game. A mix of both is always the best approach. I hope that helps

      @tech.inspector 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@oscarowenbusiness Helps a lot, thanks! Since I do tutorials which are always search based I will try to upload my next video twice. Same video but one time I use the search based title and the other one gets the browse based title. I'm really excited about the comparison

    • @oscarowenbusiness
      @oscarowenbusiness  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thats the point! So the thumbnails have the SAME elements (faces, text, contrasting colours), yet the new ones are MUCH more clickable. Why? Because the new ones use these elements in a way that builds more curiosity. So its not about what you put in the thumbnail, it is about how you put the thumbnail together. Making sure the elements within it challenge the viewer and build curiosity. Hence the four tactics at the end explain this :) Hope that helps

    Hey bro, you put your end screen at the wrong side. So you then point to nothing when doing your call to action....😉......... I loved the video keep it up

    I’m not a content creator, but I am an avid YT user….you gotta be careful not to go tooooo big on the title/claim. If it’s too big, I tend to assume its click-bait and move on. I also feel like the average user is getting shorter and shorter attention spans. I feel for the content creators and the challenges involved.

    There is literally a rule against clickbait so why is this stuff encouraged on these channels? Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmm

      If you watch the video I say multiple times don’t clickbait. The secret lies in having an amazing idea that is so captivating people have to click on it. The title and thumbnail represent the idea - so if the idea is great it’s not clickbait!

    whats the use of a good thumbnail if youtube doesn't show your video to people, as a new creator this is horrible

      Thumbnails are only part of the picture. The idea etc is also very important. If you are new to- TH-cam also needs to learn who your ideal audience is! This takes time

    LOL 3:45 Mrbeasts thumbnails didn’t even change. There wasn’t a difference between the new and the old style. Also, people can make great thumbnails and still get few views if their general viewership is low.

      That’s why I say in point one the secret to a great thumbnail is a great idea. You are correct - amazing thumbnail and terrible video is clickbait. Hence you need an amazing idea first and then the thumbnail can represent that.

    I miss the old TH-cam & videos that didn't have all these rules and nonsense. Too many things to do and remember, just way too stressful. I'll stick to just making the videos I want, views or not. It's all basically become nothing but being fake/manufactured and marketing. Very corporate-like. No thanks I prefer to make real life videos.
