Larbard stats with an L. left starts with an L. If it's not Larbard it's right, until he spins and then Larbard is right, but is it his left or my left while I'm facing him-oh I'm dead.
To add to the conversation: those cannons are situated on Omega's sides between his left front and back leg and right front and back leg, just in case you're not sure where to look. They'll light up before he shoots off the wave cannon AoE so based on that you can tell which side will get hit by the AoE. I just feel like a lot of the explanatory comments here gloss over the fact that these Alphascape raids are, at least as far as I know, the first regular ones where just noting the orange AoE fields on the ground is not enough to save you. You need to pay a lot more attention to physical tells, which is great for players who have more experience, but might be more difficult for others to grasp. This has nothing to do with an inability to multitask, and everything with coming to grips with what tells to look for and where to look for them. Feel free to sit there and be smug about your amazing ability to multitask, however. I'm sure you're the best at things.
That is a good tip and I thank you much! I didn't have a very good experience that last time I went in. This next time, I will look for them glowy cannons! :D
I have always struggled at multi-tasking. At 38 years old, I've been gaming for over 3 decades. Unfortunately, even in my youth I did not multi-task well. And as a mouse clicking healer in mmo's, it's near impossible for me. I adapt by memorizing the mechanics and knowing what's coming next. Unfortunately for starboard/larboard... I suck at it since it isnt just 'left' or 'right' lol
Thanks. Being able to tell from which way the attack is coming from to begin with has been an issue for me. Nice to know this and will keep an eye out for it.
In my Alpha3 runs, Star/Larboard wave seems to be the most difficult mechanic for all the players, a lot of them take unnecessary damage (especially if Healers die for that). If u are a meele dps or tank (MT or OT), you can just try to stay right under the boss, so you have more "room for manoeuvre". Ranged dps and Healers should try to stay right behind the boss, in line with it (like in Susano fight), so that they can easly go right or left, if you are to the far right or left....you won't be able to go to safe zone in time.
Dethyl Depends on the type of players you get. I am NA & I can multitask just fine in video games in general especially since I come from competitive fighting games and competing in locals & such, so this is no sweat for me. But you cannot always speak for everyone else considering we dunno what type of player they are. For fights like this I'd try to get as many friends together as possible or just hope to wing it on first couple of tries.
@@Gillian_FFXIV I can't multi-task at all. I'm also a mouse-clicker on most of my abilities. It's just a playstyle I have had for over 20 years and as an older gamer, it isn't easy to change. I also can't remember starboard or port/larboard so I get hit at least half of the time. Had the same problem in Temple of the Fist. It's just what it is. I compensate in fights, by memorizing most mechanics and their order. So I can anticipate what's coming next, and position my mouse pointer to what healing abilities I think I'll need as a whm main. It's a handicap playing the way I do, but I work through it and can do most of the content(cleared all extrmes except shinryu, did 05/6 savage last tier).
Its really annoying when Ballistic Impact happens and all melee teammates just hug the boss as it will proceed to do either larboard or starboard. Since the puddles are so close to the boss it becomes even harder or impossible to dodge it when there is so many fire pools that are poorly placed by teammates.
Here's how I handle the cannon attacks, stand on omega's rear left leg (to the right when looking at its behind), if larboard cannon stay else move to the other leg then if the second attack is the same as the first you have to move again otherwise stay.
Thanks for the guide as always. I had one strange thing happen to me while I did this. I pressed the duty action and it did nothing when it wasn't on cooldown. It literally didn't react. These fists then murdered me within seconds. No idea why, don't think I mis-clicked that badly.
The way I remember this is probably more complicated than it needs to be, and depends on which job I'm on how I approach it. Usually I'm tanking, sometimes it's off tank, so position can change. If I'm main tanking I'm at the fore of the ship, facing the aft. At that point larboard is on my right. When he uses it, he spins. I'm now at the aft of the ship facing the fore and larboard is on my left, starboard on my right. I just imagine he's a ship I'm on and relate my own position in regards to which way he's facing. Conversely, all I need to do is get the first one right. If he uses the same one again I move to the other side. If he uses the other, stay where I am. So if I just remember my own position on the ship and get the first one right, I'm going to be okay on the second.
as a healer i ust on the tank so i am having trouble seeing Starboard/Laboard cast bar. Is there an easier way to spot it? I tried focus targeting and it still doesn't pop up on that bar. I feel like i have to rearrange my whole playing style for one dungeon.
forgot to watch your video before jumping in, and we were all dying left and right. but I got 7 commendations for doing a healer LB3, so there's that. if we'd all watched this first, it wouldn't have gotten to dramatics.
@@kiiturii others have suggested this. when i went over the play by play on reddit, about 2/3 agreed it probably wasn't a party of 7, and about 1/3 thought i faked the screenshot that showed all 7, lol. but it was so long ago now that i can't remember any of the evidence now.
Have they changed the name of the spin attack? I don't remember having too much trouble my first time through (though it was definitely the thing that tripped me up the most)
Some of my guildies judged you for not clearing some content before posting a video of it and thus not wanting to watch them. I say they're dumb and I beat them in dps each time. Mizz, your videos are fantastic, to the point each time and that's why I love them and that's why I can prove my silly guildmates wrong each time :) Keep up the good work!
Is this a trick question? You don't stack them, you get everyone to run as far away from the action with them as possible. I think by "stack" you mean "place".
Coming from Wow, where I've had castbars on my nameplates for a solid decade now, bosses like this where I've got to watch a target castbar *really* trip me up. I'll get used to it eventually, but man I wish this game had more robust nameplates.
Are you one of those DPS who never pay attention to what the boss's casting, just smash buttons and get carried by healers? Or those healer/tanks who think "no one's dying so I'm doing enough" in casual contents? If not you wouldn't call this "unavoidable".
It's so fast and I'll usually die toward the end of the fight because when the party needs res or mana shift and you're not paying 100% attention you're screwed.... and I always try to be a supportive rdm, but f me, right?
Right the initial mechanic is pretty avoidable but then the fucker spins around and faces fuck knows wich direction and good luck figuring out in 3 seconds where the hell hes facing to. Its the absolute worst mechanic created by some saddistic gamedesigner

I'm dead too, but not from the mechanics. Your gross misspelling of larboard three times is what killed me
AND HERE COMES THE GIANT FIST! PATRICK NO!
you're guides are getting me through all the raids so far, and I've come to appreciate the beginning video puns lol

What would I do without your raid guides? I would just die.
At this point I'd say I look forward to the puns as much as the guide itself
You forgot to mention that the first meteors fill lb gauge to max so you can lb before and after for even more damage

Omega’s theme from ff14
It's a point of contention if mustard bomb is an aoe/cleave.
Is it??
It is an aoe
You cannot solo this unless you are War or Blu. Pld can make the dps check but cannot survive the Delta cananon even with all your mit. Stacked.

In HUD Layout you can split the target bar and then put the cast bar in the middle of your screen, and even make it bigger.
That doesn't attach it to the nameplates, so it doesn't really help. Just one of those game differences to get used to.
the star and larboard wave mechanic is fuqing nuts. you have 1 sec to react immediately to dodge
