No need to apologise David. Always enjoy your content and your level headed view 👍🏻 We lost, only the 3rd time another team has beaten us. One loss in the PL, one loss in the League cup and one loss in the CL. We however finished top of the CL, we are top and have a lead in the PL including a game in hand vs Everton, still have the 2nd leg of the League cup semi plus the next round of the FA Cup. Regarding the match, it will make no difference to what happens the rest of the season...
Definitely no apology needed, thanks for the great analysis 👍🏼. Great to see the squad get a good run out against a decent PSV side. Some promising performances and I thought Chiesa was superb. On to the Cherries on Saturday, incidentally their my home team😊.
The way Chiesa’s been held back is genius from slot. He’s so hungry and that hunger and willingness is all the proof we need to see he has a role to play. Just pray he doesn’t get injured.
@@paulboyne8786Chiesa has all the attributes Slot likes. The reason he has been held back is to properly get the underlying isusses he obtained during the period at Juve. If you know something (I'm not patronizing you) about the Juve medical staff and physio department then you would know it is actually worse than those of Newcastle, Spurs and United. By that I mean they let players back too soon both in training and games.
@@paulboyne8786Not the case at all, the bloke was injured with no pre season, he’s now fit and showing what a top draw player he is and slot knows what a good player he is.
McConnell will definitely be part of the squad moving forward. His progression, even this season, has been noticeable, and FSG like this kind of value. His skill set even fits Arne's playing style. Look forward to seeing how high he can raise the bar.
Chiesa is world class….. glad to see his fitness and physicality improving. McConnell was very very good. When Morton came on, PSV were shut down with no chances created. Together with Bajcetic our midfield is well stocked with talent.
Slot was impressed by Mcconnell and seems to want to keep him instead of sending him out on loan. He was also happy with Chiesa's performance. This was a really good opportunity for the young players. What an experience it must have been for them. Hope the team is going to do well against Bournemouth and not be leggy like they sometimes are after a rest.
Liverpool often give lethatgic performances after being given a break. It has been notable. If it happens again - something needs to be done to address it.
Fantastic Fede.❤ Liverpool's MOTM by a country mile. Literally handed Pool both the goals. Effortlessly dribbling past defenders. Surely, Slot has to give Fede wayyyy more minutes and potential starts from now on??
Really liked the performance from Chiesa. Once again he had an impact, winning penalty and then having great shot saved that rebounded to Elliott to score.
David, thanks for cheering me up although to be candid, when all the games had been played today and Liverpool stood as the top seed , with a rested first team, I couldn’t really stay that irritated about the fellows giving up the lead and then losing the game. Got to keep things in perspective and you are a massive help without sugar coating anything. On another note, how cool is it that Bournemouth-Liverpool this weekend could and should be one of the most exciting, interesting and impactful games of the season? Of course I’ll be cheering for Liverpool but i just admire what Bournemouth has achieved so much! YNWA.
Can’t believe anyone goes near an apology for this result. This is exactly what is wrong with an expectation in the modern game. We were not playing a pub team here. Go watch United if you need a reality hit.
Was just one of those games where there was an opportunity to rest the first 11 and much needed , the young lads that played give a good account of themselves against a tough team to play against at their own ground , on to the next one 👍
The team played well and won the xG battle, with a bit more luck they could have picked up a win or draw. Good to get bad luck out of the way in a dead rubber game for us! Excellent too that City will face either Bayern or Madrid away days before we go to the Etihad in the Premier League, and we will have a week off too. That could be excellent news given City will prioritise the Champions League. Just me maybe but I thought Elliot looked good, did a lot of running and was running the game at times. Though we didn't seem to have our usual midfield control.
I was super impressed with James McConnell. Looks like he's got a great future ahead of him. Yeah, he is small, but his brain is so quick. Some real good technical ability as well.
Great video David spot on with Chiesa Unfortunately I just got to see the first half, happy with the players getting a decent run out in a competitive game , Chiesa impressive with his work rate and desire he can only get better and shaper plus if he gets more game time with our first 11 like you said he will make a difference 👍.
You can also look at this as a perfect game to test the Liverpool players who had little or no playing time at a high level. No give aways from PSV, the Liverpool players really had to fight for a result. The perfect resistance. So a win win :)
Hi David, this is exactly the performance I was expecting for Frederico now he's back to some sort of match fitness. Having followed his career in Italy and once hoped LFC would buy him from Fiorentina, because of his energy, dribbling skills and finishing, I thought he would be the perfect fit for us. I think he was almost trying too hard at times, holding on to the ball to long, losing his footing, he was desperate to beat three defenders and score a worldy. Cracked me up that the PSV supporters were almost in tears of delight that they'd beaten Liverpool. Did they read the team sheet? I think that says more about us than it does them. Up the mighty Reds.
Morning, David, good game to watch, impressed by Chiesa he is up for it, Quansha was a lot better, McConnell impressed good to see fringe players get good playing time last night . Young lads are getting playing time. Top of both leagues happy days. Great report again David take care
Thank you David. Great analysis and i so look forward to your updates and reporting on matches. Agree with all that you said. I am over the moon and we will beat whoever we face out of the 4 teams you mentioned that we could face
I’ve not been impressed with Bradley since his return from injury. He runs a lot, but has failed to cut out crosses in many games and when upfront his delivery into the box has been poor. Now I’m thinking he’s just a good back up full back, therefore if Trent leaves, we’ll need both a left and right back. I agree with your headline, those were the only two players that stood out in this game. I heard Slot’s after match press conference where he says McConnell will not be going on loan.
McConnell is a star chiesa Endo played well too the ref was awful David second goal should haven't stood the referee got in endo's way I enjoyed the game though David it was great for the development of young players delighted chiesa got 90 mins on to sat YNWA David
Perfect analysis Mr. Lynch. Unfortunately, everyone in the defense played poorly, the midfield was also very weak. I'm only happy with the attackers, although I expected more from Jayden. If the usual strong midfielders are playing, Chiesa gets a lot more balls and chances. He was outstanding.
For me personally McConnell reminded of a young Stevie G in some turns and the kid has a big heart. Could be a mix of Stevie G & Milner if coached properly. Can be a very big player for us. Im rooting for him
We MADE our own luck so far in this competition I believe. It's a shame not to go through without losing but hey, we finished top. That's no small feat, for whatever it actually means (and it still doesn't make any real sense to me, an old fool)!! Onto and into bournemouth next then, with all our big-hitters rested and even some from last night on the list!! Nice one Master Lynch anyway 👍👍👍
Our xg numbers are a bit misleading as they’re inflated massively by the penalty and Harvey’s near open goal (resulting from Chiesa’s shot which provided xg contribution of its own). Still though a good performance in the circumstances and a good evening in the broader context
@Kevla74 Fair enough, I personally think he is developing very well. Remember he is having to hold his own in the best team in the world atm and he is only 19. He will keep progressing, Virgil was playing 4th tier football at 19.
David I agree a draw would have been deserved on the night. The entire team played well and did themselves proud. Lots of positive to take from the performance.
Great job as always! It seems wrong that even though Liverpool finished first in the 36-team table we are scheduled to play a team that finished 15-18th? Wouldn't it make more sense if we played a team that finished 20-24th? That's usually how it works in American sports tournaments with seeded brackets. The best teams earn the right to play the worst teams. How did this CL format get created? Has there been any explanation for how the round. of 16 is set up?
Nope. there are only 16 teams left as far as liverpool are concerned. and they are guaranteed not to play against anyone ranked above 15th for the next round. Is there a chance that the 24th seed go and win their knockout game against the 9th seed and then Aston Villa the 8th seed could play the 24th seed in the R16, yes. But its far more likely that the 24th seed lose to the 9th seed and Aston Villa the 8th seed end up playing the 9th seed.
Decent explanation already below this comment mate but just to back it up, it’s very likely that the lower teams will get knocked out in their playoffs before Liverpool have a chance to face them. It’s a strange way of doing it though, I admit!
Wait until he's doing it week in week out before slagging off the players who have got us into the position we are, stop with the player FC nonsense, they are all Liverpool players, who gives a shit about your opinion of who's best, childish little Muppet. Grow up, oooh my dad's bigger than your dad.🤷🤡🤡 So what? They all have roles to play, it's about having the best team not the best individuals. Go away with your stupid agenda. Nobody cares what you think 🤷🤡
Yea totally agree with the post match analysis as usual. Happy with mconnel and chiesa was superb! All the big hitters got a rest too and we also have such good opportunities to rest the big hitters again in FA Cup so all our hard upcoming away games we will have fully rested squads. I’m also not fearful of any team in the ucl (apart from Madrid and their Woodoo lol).
Hi David. The Xg for Liverpool includes a pen so skews the picture a little bit and tbf PSV played a second string team too. But agree that it probably was a draw game on the look of it
Very good performance. No shame in the defeat. Our 2nd and 3rd string vs the Dutch champions 1st string and only to lose by one. I'll take that. Don't get me started on the ref. Anyway on to Saturday. Ynwa jft97.
Yeah McConnell was THE stand out for me. Chiesa was good but I expect him to be good, ditto Harvey I don't think he has anything like his A game last night but he was always trying to make a difference again I expect that from Harvey, McConnell is a good little player but he stood out as exceptional. Probably got more potential than Morton who I actually think could be involved more, I think McConnell will overtake him in pecking order before long though, 🤔👍 Danns, McConnell I see really bright future, hopefully with Liverpool
Great analysis as always. Do you think Nunez is really ill or a possible move away in the works? If we do sell Nunez Chiesa's performance as you point out softens the blow and maybe the fee can be used to get over the top on those expiring contracts.
He had a golden chance, but his touch let him down. It was from an Elliot pass on the right wing. When I watched this sequence, he looked tired or something. Yet, he didn’t look horribly fatigued in the second half. It was strange. He can strike a ball and frustrate fullbacks on the touchline with his ball control. He’s alright, but something is off.
Chiesa is a quality player and has proven that over his career. There are still concerns about his fitness from Slot but he definitely is good enough to represent Liverpool on the pitch.
my only worry is quansah last season he is quality looks like a VVD Regen ,but this season if Virg isnt there he tend to let his guard down gets easily past
Can’t argue much with that assessment David However the strap attached at the headstock in the background has me stressed out! 😂 Stick a strap button at the heel! Any vids of you playing that thing? Epiphone, is it?
Yeah the physicality and the team collision of PSV they kinda bullied us at times the build up play the way the moved tht ball around you could tell our team hasn’t played together.
I agree and I really rate Morton as a squad option but McConnell just went above him imo. Offers a little more progressive skills. Shame but we can't give them all minutes, I don't think bajcetic is ever going to get back to the levels he showed previously, not at Liverpool anyway, again shame as he looked nailed on, unfortunately they don't all make it. Danns has real potential too, see him getting opportunity under Arne 👍
Nobody has the quality and numbers to be a direct replacement for Salah. Why do you always complain? Oh this players never going to be as good as....etc, can't you just fukkin enjoy what we are doing for now? Instead of looking for flaws. I didn't think we could ever get over dalglish or rush do I slag off Curtis or Harvey because they aren't Gerrard? Diaz cuz he isn't mane? Stop watching football or fukkin enjoy what you are watching instead of constantly looking for negatives FFS. Sad bastard 🤡🤷😂
David, come on. Please stop talking about how good our backup options are. Quanshah has to play regularly to get there !!! He has to go out on loan. We still need a new CB!! Even Craig told you that on his chanel !!!
Chiesa runs a lot alright but i got the impression it was a bit like a horse with eye blinds on, on several he didn't see the options available but tried to score himself 😕
The CBs in this game did not look alright. Maybe Endo should have played at CB in the first half. This season, Robertson even have spells of switching off at LB, why play him at CB? Quansah was not totally up to the task at PSV.
I think you need to watch again . Chiesa was hogging the ball and won't pass it . He was trying to do too much . McConnell got pushed around in this game but he is very good . Neither guy had a good game .
No we don't. Absolute nonsense. We need the right player not just anybody, we don't have any issues, we have a full squad, already quite a few who don't get enough minutes
You can compare PSV with let's say the nrs 5-10 of the Premier League, so you hqve to imqgine yesterdqy, Liverpool with mqny youngsters and players who had very little playing time, let alone 90 minutes in their boots,. So playing with the second group against a team like Viila, Chelsea or Fulham, away, being in front two times, and keeping a clean sheet the second half, is not a bad result, is it. So guys, be relaxed and happy the others are getting tested and some of them will soon join the 1st 15 pick suad level..
The Defense in the starting lineup was a shambles. Robbo should NEVER play CB again. I watched the game and I can't say I was very impressed by anyone except the usual suspects, Bradley was fantastic and Morton was great and Chiesa was great, the rest I found lacking. I'm especially disappointed in Kelleher, who let in a roof shot. He did it vs Arsenal for the Saka goal in the 2-2 and again yesterday, it's utterly poor goalkeeping. Come out of your goal and prevent the shot. I had no expectations of the young lads so I can't say. I only judged the senior players and Quansah, Robbo and Tsimikas were poor. that double sliding block attempt from Robbo and Quansah for that one goal was embarrassing. Both sliding the same way simultaneously, it was like watching a dance choreography. surely Quansah is done in Liverpool in the summer, or at least he will be loaned out. that was not good enough.
Geezuz more absolute garbage from the whingers because we lost a game we really shouldn't have lost. Does the sun shine ever where you live FFS? You lost me in the first few words but to call kelleher poor, nothing you say is valid 🤡
Today's game showed the limitations in our depth in multiple positions, prob our poorest line up in a long, long time. There should be no excuses now for a slow start @ Bournemouth with all the rested players.
For me, it showed how ridiculously strong they are. Obviously a few performances weren’t perfect, but you have to take into account the fact that the entire team was changed and never plays together. To run the Dutch champions close with a full second string out is pretty impressive. I think people massively underestimate how good these teams are because Liverpool’s best players would dominate them.
@@davidlynchlfc exactly, the highest scoring team in Europe and leaders of the Eredivise, and run very close. but definitely impressive for an entire second team
Limitations in our depth 😂 You do realise that every club has rules when it comes to clubs selecting their squads and limits clubs to how many players they can register. Rules made by the Premier League and Champions League. Clearly you don't and in return have fallen for many false narratives
To be fair,Endo is a defensive No 6...He breaks attacks up..Gravenberch is more an attacking No 6..So has better ball control and looking forward for a pass..
Very Imppressive this side never let anybody down including Themselves/the sending off was so unnecessary/Trey Nyoni wow what a prospect looks so at home at such a tender age/this boy goes nowhere on Loan /wow
Slot is a great coach' but I fear the lack of investment this January' could be our downfall this season. Any injuries could have us fall short. The current owners are a pile of crap' we need investment from Saudi they would invest or Musk. With these owners klopp fell short only one title' one. Champions league' could have been so much more but for these tight fisted owners. I hope we win all but I don't see it' we need a lot of luck' Trent is gone and mo the end of this season I know we won cups under klopp but could of being more tittles lack of investment.
Another fan which has fallen for false narratives and does not know that both the Premier League and Champions League limits clubs to how many players they can register and permit clubs to the amount of non homegrown players they can register. Stop falling for false narratives mate.
Any supporter who thinks LFC needs Saudi investment can kindly go support one of those clubs. Do you want the club funded by evil? You are unwelcome if you do. And Musk? Likewise. Id!0t
Apart from the usual"LFC knobheads fans" on Twitter who cannot wait to slag off the owners, the managers, and the players when LFC lose a game. I personally think the team put in a decent shift tonight
I couldn't care less about the result, but tonight's performance should show everyone that we don't really have the squad depth everyone keeps talking about. Are you seriously counting Quansah, Robbo and Tsimikas as squad depth? We have no striker, as we saw today that Danns is not ready yet,no midfield replacement, only 2 CB. And we have refused to strengthen. God help us we don't pick any major injury
What a moronic statement. We won the game on xG, with a bit more luck we would have had a draw or a win. Our 2nd/3rd team deserving a draw or win away at the Eredivise league leaders. Get a grip of yourself.
@Charlie_Ses what a moronic response. Talking about XG. There's no xG trophy. It's like you guys put your hopes and xG and refuse to believe what you're watching. We don't have a good LB, Quansah is not up to standard, same for Morton, We don't have a reliable striker. Any sensible fan would actually agree with these points. But people like you just keep shouting about xG
Apologies for the delay in getting this one up - laptop issues got me! Thoughts on the performance?

But agree that it probably was a draw game on the look of it
Federico was good!
Fair point that! Was still fairly close on open play xG as you say.
Good content as usual - as yes my friend,,,, David I noticed the guitar has moved to an upright position from leaning on the door frame.
Very good performance. No shame in the defeat. Our 2nd and 3rd string vs the Dutch champions 1st string and only to lose by one. I'll take that. Don't get me started on the ref. Anyway on to Saturday. Ynwa jft97.
Great video!
Nice one mate!
harvey elliot and chiesa stood out
McConnell must not of been on your TV. 🤡
I’d say he’s ill mate. It wouldn’t make sense for Liverpool to weaken their options given their position. But I expect him to leave in the summer.
You do mess about with details however you are always very positive .YNWA
💯💯😎😎👍 happy we won the 36 group stage hopefully a good Oman Dave 👍
Do you guys see Chiesa as a starter-caliber player?
He had a golden chance, but his touch let him down. It was from an Elliot pass on the right wing. When I watched this sequence, he looked tired or something. Yet, he didn’t look horribly fatigued in the second half. It was strange.
He can strike a ball and frustrate fullbacks on the touchline with his ball control. He’s alright, but something is off.
Chiesa is a quality player and has proven that over his career. There are still concerns about his fitness from Slot but he definitely is good enough to represent Liverpool on the pitch.
I think there’s a chance by the end of the season that was see him starting games, yeah. I wouldn’t mind seeing him centrally.
It was a good game. We did well. Cheisa was good and he is ready yep. We move on. Bigger fish to fry. Great stuff David. Walk on
my only worry is quansah last season he is quality looks like a VVD Regen ,but this season if Virg isnt there he tend to let his guard down gets easily past
Chiesa was OUTSTANDING shhhhhhhhhhhhhKNOW DOUBT.
Quanshah has to go out on loan!!! We must sign new CB !!! HE JUST ISN'T THERE !!!
Can’t argue much with that assessment David
However the strap attached at the headstock in the background has me stressed out!
😂
Stick a strap button at the heel!
Any vids of you playing that thing? Epiphone, is it?
It’s just a cheap one I use for messing about on mate! It’s seen better days.
Just to put in a littlebit of perspective. PSV was missing 5 very important players also. So. Still a good result.
Yeah the physicality and the team collision of PSV they kinda bullied us at times the build up play the way the moved tht ball around you could tell our team hasn’t played together.
04:49 - Chiesa’s partner will like that comment 😉
Robertson, Nunez, Quansah most probably will be on their way out at the end of the season...
Chiesa and mc connell were excellent..kelleher timiskas qyansah were poor.imo
I think McConnell has just sealed Typler morton's exit
I agree and I really rate Morton as a squad option but McConnell just went above him imo. Offers a little more progressive skills. Shame but we can't give them all minutes, I don't think bajcetic is ever going to get back to the levels he showed previously, not at Liverpool anyway, again shame as he looked nailed on, unfortunately they don't all make it. Danns has real potential too, see him getting opportunity under Arne 👍
10 out of 10 for effort with Chiesa but don't think he has the quality to replace Salah.
He doesn’t have to replace salah . Imagine Chiesa on the left and salah on the right? Poor defenders !
If your entire second string can run a decent CL side close away from home, they’re very good. There’s no debate!
Chiesa runs a lot alright but i got the impression it was a bit like a horse with eye blinds on, on several he didn't see the options available but tried to score himself 😕
PS-Eindhoven? That's really demeaning...
No offence intended but you’re completely wrong 😂
I'm not buying this narrative we need two players to replace Matip and wijnaldum.
No we don't. Absolute nonsense. We need the right player not just anybody, we don't have any issues, we have a full squad, already quite a few who don't get enough minutes
❤❤❤
Not concerned with the lost but concern with jarrel quansah's form he needs to improve quickly
I thought he was impressive v Lille.
Ha, nice edit!
Stop playing fantasy football and maybe you'll enjoy LFC this season. Tell me which EPL club can put up a B team and still challenge PSV in the CL?
Danns was lazy compared to Nunez also hope the debate on Endo is over he is just not good enough on the ball, he’s actually better at centre back
To be fair,Endo is a defensive No 6...He breaks attacks up..Gravenberch is more an attacking No 6..So has better ball control and looking forward for a pass..
Cheer up ffs
Any supporter who thinks LFC needs Saudi investment can kindly go support one of those clubs. Do you want the club funded by evil? You are unwelcome if you do. And Musk? Likewise.
Id!0t
Apart from the usual"LFC knobheads fans" on Twitter who cannot wait to slag off the owners, the managers, and the players when LFC lose a game. I personally think the team put in a decent shift tonight
Yeah but Quansah ain’t good enough. It’s fg obvious.
YNWA
Gomez at centre back Would have been better that's what was missing.
@RandyVinden I agree. But Gomez gets injured every season so it's expected that is why we should have strengthened with a CB/LB type of player
@joered6344 Lol if you can't understand the importance of xG I can't help you. Continue being a reactionary plonker.
I was very disappointed with Elliot and Endo, especially Elliot,, he was just out of it.
Elliott played very well, he was running the show at times
