"No honey, I don't have time to clean up my harmonica shit right now. I need to watch Jason Ricci clean up his harmonica shit." For real, that's some cool stuff. I didn't know you had a chord. I'd love to see you break that out on tour sometime.
Thats HILARIOUS bro! I'm going to make a part 2 for Patreon with some stuff I forgot to talk about. I use to play that chord a lot. Theres a handful of vids of me rocking on youtube mostly at SPAH. Thanks for watching!!!
Fantastic collection!!! But, i believe that no collection is complete without a “Herb Shriner Harp”, made by Hohner in Germany, with a gold colored plates embossed with his name and image. I’ve had mine since 1968, and it still looks pristine and new, as well as the box! Get one! You’ll truly feel complete! Thanks !!!
When I saw the rounded harp at the 15 mark, I thought Chris (Buddha) Micalek, I'm sure I misspelled it. And I'm surprised that you only have one Mopar Joe harp.
Nice to hear mention of Jimmy Gordon. I’d like to see more stuff by him on YT, even older stuff. We were in the same high school, a year apart. He was killer then, played with Jerry Lee Lewis and Bonnie Rait while he was in high school. And also, like you Jason, Jimmy is a great person. He is a reason I started playing.
Yeah the brass comb sounds more mellow to my ears I like it. When I learn to play this thing a bit better I’ll be ordering a few of Tom’s harps. Checked out his website today. Tons of options
@@jasonricci Man! You were holding it down just great!! What a stellar line up, too!!! Did he customize it for you or did he sell you one he did before?
Great vid. I'm going to have to stroll by the Blue Moon web site. Was surprised Brad Harrison didn't get a mention. I still have one of his Marine Bands (A- needs work) and 2 from you. The Eb is my fav harp. The C needs some work as well. My Bb BRad is still awesome. Blues Camp coming up in May. This vid was great inspiration to get in there and clean and gap. Do you have any Buddha harps? I got a D with a blue comb made of jean material. I've opened up the gapping a bit on it so it's not soooooo sensitive and it plays great. Take care. Respect.
Great to see your joy about your „working horse, mojo C harp“ man. Mine is a Bb Golden Melody with a aluminium comb and blue coverplate from Tom Halchak. Always good to see and hear you…
Hi maestro, what is interesting is to see that you have several harps in A, I saw an Ab,... which allows you to understand what is more useful in concert. it's not just a detail because many young harmonicists are still wondering which tones are most used. thank you
It's good to have at least one of every key. A lot of bands play in Ab, Bb, and Eb especially if they have horns in them. An Ab is especially useful. I have more than one of the keys I use most the time hence the A harps and C's and Ebs.
Great video. Can you make a video about how you customize them? The nail polish trick has me intrigued and I want to learn more about it and how you “set the action”. Thanks!
Yep, I have a few combs and covers from Tom Halcheck too. They play easier for me for some odd reason, and I love the things. I just did a video of my case too. I tend to stack mine in the position in mind so it's easy to find without digging around for a chart.
Jason... Question Vented or non vented... I am curious as to the sound versus non vented? Or when you use vented harps when performing... I love, love the collection with each individual differences .... You're gonna have to update this videos with your 2024 Travel Collection! Bless you, man!
Ya know Jason you are my favorite harpist I’ve discovered since starting to learn….. But that Saints gear man…. I dunno. 😜 Love ya brother from Cincinnati! WHO DEY BABY 🐅 🐅 🐅
I should have known that you worked on your own harps ! They have become an expensive instrument . I used to get special 20's , the Pro harp and my favorite the Golden Melody for around $ 15.00 . The Lee Osker was a little more expensive at around $ 20.00 . They had a tin like sound but the interchangeable reed plates for around 10 or 12 bucks made them a good buy . Even I learned how to take off the cover plates and put in new reed plates lol . Kevins Harps was a good place to get them years ago . The old Marine bands were hard for me to play . They took too much breath to make a sound for me . I've got about 12 , 25 year old harps laying around here as I type . Most with blown reeds . I like those cigar bands on your case . I used to indulge and collected many cigar bands .
How do you know about the Hedge Harp? ❤️! It was for Kate who loves hedge hogs. It's a manji with light embossing, flat sanded comb and plates and the art I don't know why hedge hogs are on my family's crest that's crazy you know too 😂! I found that out after I had already made the Hedge harp for Kate!

Wow hearing the name David payne brought me back to old mbh forum days.

very nice collection fella 😊
i do have a question though, preferring the s20 cover plates why not just go for the ms over the mb?
The shorter reads on the MS don't overblow as well without a TON of work. Plus I like the smaller thinner, speaker profile of the MB.

And all day long the notes ring out
And as soon as it gets dark
The harp man's soul rings loud

He kissed it so loud
Nobody couldn't hear it
The whole world around
Man I didnt think harp man would ever present to me
But I'm sure in my heart that this favorite thing with me
And does belong to every single one
