Arleen Auger : I always admired her voice and this is the first time i saw her singing ....there are no words ....we just have to be lucky we still can enjoy her voice by hearing and seeing... I still remember the day when i heard she left our world...almost at the same time when Lucia Popp left our world.....
wesskin - I went to college with her - Cal State Long Beach - and sang in the chorus in a Gilbert and Sullivan opera, Ruddigore. She was the star and was truly talented - even then. I am so glad she became such an acclaimed singer but was saddened to learn she passed away so young. But we have you tube at least to listen to her angelic voice.
So calm and strong at the same time. It seemed so easy all that demanding coloratura. I m a big fan of Arleen. She lives through her divine voice in her recordings.
tears of joy streams from my eyes as i listen to this so beautiful--- what a universal sound--i am only 30 and i appreciate this beautiful woman and her contributions to music--God bless her spirit.
Best version indeed.... she had the gift, the technique and ability to take one to mental and spiritual places as only true art can.....Ms. Auger you will always live as long as there is a soul listening to your art somewhere in a corner of this wide world...
There are many great versions by some outstanding opera singers but for me this is the best one. Absolute perfection. Such a beautifully clear voice and control. A great shame she passed away at a relatively early age. R.I.P Arleen, you brought much joy to many with your beauty and artistry.
im so bummed that she passed away in 1993. she has one of the best voices ive ever heard. and she has so much control and awesome technic! she is the queen of sopranos.
I have the CD of this performance and I am happy to watch this video. Ms Auger was the best singer among many other singers of this brilliant Mozart's work. Her sound, diction, breath was perfect. Moreover what a relaxation she had!!
I love to hear Arleen sing and Mozart compsed for her. I was fortunate enough as a young man to study in the same studio, Ralph Errole's, in Chicago in 1965 and 1966 with her and be her friend. Not only are the voice and technique beautiful but so was she. If there is a heaven she certainly is in it.
Did you know dear Evelyn Reynold who sang for whatever the Lyric Opera was called in Chicago. A mezzo from Alabama, who lived and died at 100 in New York this year. She also studied with Ralph Errole. I had some lessons with Ralph, and I knew Arleen. I am Londoner not an American.
What a voice! Her recording of Constanze in "Abduction", with Karl Bohm conducting and with Reri Grist as Blonde, is absolutely perfect all the way through.
Sheer and utter perfection, at one with the music. I have enjoyed Dame Kiri's rendition, puzzled over Ms.Fleming's and shuddered at Ms. Bartoli's mannerisms which overtook the music. If there is a chorus of angels in heaven, surely it is lead by the serenely beautiful Arleen Auger and Lucia Popp.
Thank-you for posting Joyces videos even though I am Her nephew I only got to see her perform once at the Passadena campus of ucla, she was a lot of fun to be around and I really miss her
This is absolute perfection. Amazing! What a clear voice, what a control, it is incredible. I'm sure Mozart would have wanted it to be this way. It is incredible.
I write the same once again - with pleasure: I never heard such a excellent interpretation as from the wonderful, unique, fantastic Arleen Auger. I think Mozart has composed it for her, only for her. Thank you so much for sharing these great videos.
ALYSSA THEODOSSIOU -I went to college with her and sang in the chorus of G & S Ruddigore while she had the female lead. She was beautiful in voice and appearance even then. I was heartbroken when I learned of her passing. May she rest in peace.
Incomparable artistry on all counts from the radiant Auger to the transparent brilliance of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under the capable baton of Maestro Berstein.
This version of the Mass always is transcendent for me. When I do Eucharistic Adoration, this Mass is my "mental soundtrack" Wonderful version and I am still in awe of Arleen Auger's talent. She was the first "Famous" person that had and died from the same cancer that killed my first husband. Requiescat in pace
I DIDNT KNOW EXULTATE JUBILATE MOZART - EXTRAORDINARY CO MPOSITION AND VIDEO WITH SINGER ARLEEN AUUGER AND MY BELOVED L. BERNSTEIN THANK YOU. HUGS FROM ANNA BRAIZL.
This was a live recording for the Album/CD that came out. It would make sense for the audience not to applaud. The record-makers would not want to have applause on the album. I'm sure that the musicians were informed of this from the start and the audience, too.
she's amazing! And the tempi are great! I'm doing this piece and I've had to fight for tempi even near this, haha. I love everything about how she does this! Her breath marks make total sense, which is so hard in this. (too bad it's in an 80s gown.)
indeed - challanges give music another subtle and sometimes ironic pitch. definitely it is her commitment that shows through - knowing her personal circumstances gives yet another layer of backbone through which one can truely understand her spiritual and artistic commitment . Well said :)
No greater prejudice than to think u have to be religious or even spiritual to like something like this. All that's required is to have a heart behind your ribs.
im not religious....but the spiritual power of this music suggest that Mozart as suggested in Amadeus had a "direct contact"...and a totally stunning performance here...
@WestMaroon A bit late getting back. You must have taken me out of context. Saw Bonney quite recently in recital, and Ameling is also still living and in good health. Never indicated otherwise. Indeed all, including Auger, are alive and well in my music library.

Tu virginum corona, tu nobis pacem dona, tu consolare affectus, unde suspirat cor. Alleluja.
That's my Aunt!!! I have listened to her sing many songs and hear an incredible voice too!
excellent breathing, excellent phrasing, excellent placement, excellent intonation . . . EXCELLENT TECHNIQUE!!!
She sings this like an angel. There's no tension on her singing and the sound is so pure. Magical!
everything correct, and a nice vibro on top of that.
And she is beautiful too!
What an incredibly gifted woman gone too soon. Glad we have these recordings.

Arleen Auger was truely one of the greatest mozart sopranos, and a wonderfull lady
Such beautiful and effortless singing from Arleen . Lovely sound from this orchestra under Bernstein .
The simplicity and absolute candor with which she sang should be taken as lesson for all singers today. What an artist!
Best version indeed.... she had the gift, the technique and ability to take one to mental and spiritual places as only true art can.....Ms. Auger you will always live as long as there is a soul listening to your art somewhere in a corner of this wide world...

La meilleure interprétation parmi toutes. Quelle finesse. Bouleversant.
This for me is heaven on earth. First time I heard her version, I had tears.
The same for me, wonderful music
AA; an effervescent opal!

What a voice! Her recording of Constanze in "Abduction", with Karl Bohm conducting and with Reri Grist as Blonde, is absolutely perfect all the way through.
She always looked so serene when she sang-an earthly angel, now in her rightful place-though a great loss for the musical community.
One of the few perfect Mozart voices I've heard.
thank u Mozart....thank u Bernstein...thank u Arleen...magic melodies at heaven now....
What a wonderful voice!
Thank-you for posting Joyces videos even though I am Her nephew I only got to see her perform once at the Passadena campus of ucla, she was a lot of fun to be around and I really miss her
Spectacular collaboration & how lucky we are to have a record of it! This is not long before they both died, I believe.
Arleen's Exultate angelic version is the best of any soprano.
That she was taken from us so young saddens me profoundly.
This is absolute perfection. Amazing! What a clear voice, what a control, it is incredible. I'm sure Mozart would have wanted it to be this way. It is incredible.

2020 and I’m still loving Arleen Auger 😊
I'm with you!!
i feel emotional and blessed to be able to access wonderful music by two legendary artists in a peerless performance thank you to the up-loader
.
Sin palabras. Emocionado. Era la reina. Y Bernstein y la orquesta y la grabación...
The trill at the end of Tu virginum is straight from heaven.
MARVELOUS DELUXE!!! BERNSTEIN AND AUGER...
SIMPLY DIVINE!!!
Hello from Germany.
most beautiful voice in this aria that i have ever heard: the effortless Arleen Auger :))
The most nearly perfect singer I've ever heard.
Incomparable artistry on all counts from the radiant Auger to the transparent brilliance of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under the capable baton of Maestro Berstein.
What a treat! Two Olympians. Mozart would approve.
always GORGEOUS SINGING from Arleen Auger
Beside Arleen who is wonderful I am very happy to see
my idol Lenny-thank you very much
A fountain of melody blessed by the Lord!!!
AA makes everything look effortless, and that's why she was the best
Oh. let me go back to my beloved Mozart
I love Arleen Auger, she's simply superb n_n
Thanks so much for posting this. It is sublime.
the chorus of angels are lucia popp, arlene auger and tatyana troyanos - they all died young and in the same year. What a glorious triumverate!
Within days of each other, at the same age!
Grandissima! Che stile!
This version of the Mass always is transcendent for me. When I do Eucharistic Adoration, this Mass is my "mental soundtrack"
Wonderful version and I am still in awe of Arleen Auger's talent.

sincerllyi i agree!she's perfect and addorable like the music she singed...
This is the music i love
No es sólo cuestion de facultades. Es la sensibilidad. El genio.
Arleen Auger--sigh. Amazing....
she's amazing! And the tempi are great! I'm doing this piece and I've had to fight for tempi even near this, haha. I love everything about how she does this! Her breath marks make total sense, which is so hard in this. (too bad it's in an 80s gown.)

Perfect. What else can you say?
No greater prejudice than to think u have to be religious or even spiritual to like something like this. All that's required is to have a heart behind your ribs.
So wonderful!!!
What a dream.
Brava Diva!
astounding Auger
im not religious....but the spiritual power of this music suggest that Mozart as suggested in Amadeus had a "direct contact"...and a totally stunning performance here...
Mozarts "Exsultate, jubilate" mit Carolina Dawabe-Valle und dem E.T.A. Hoffmann-Kammerorchester gibt es hier: @
maravilhosa!!!!! :)
True beauty surpasses religion and spirituality.
Zeit Geist True beauty is often inspired by religion and spirituality.
Fa Ye
Yes. The operative word here being "often", as you yourself put it.
+Fa Ye ahahhahahahahah
+Zeit Geist Of course !
With an interpretation like this, there are still people who like Elvis.
It is possible to like both - as I do.
@suzanneetmoi Precisely! I could not agree more!
Exquisite singing-much closer to the Bel Canto era
Arleen Auger...I hope to meet her in heaven....
Leave it to Arleen to be the *one* soprano to sing Alleluia as if she meant it!
I'm sure she did!!
I can dig it. Arleen.
Så dejligt
@WestMaroon A bit late getting back. You must have taken me out of context. Saw Bonney quite recently in recital, and Ameling is also still living and in good health. Never indicated otherwise. Indeed all, including Auger, are alive and well in my music library.
Wow!.....
excelente!!!

❤️❤️❤️❤️
@suzanneetmoi and may we add Elly Ameling and Barbara Bonney to the chorus?
One kind of perfection. For another try Victoria de los Angeles.
Mozart wrote this at the age of 17 for a castrato friend whilst in Italy he was also knighted by the Pope
soprano maria jose maldonado
😊😍😘
Alguém de dezenove anos ou Brasileiro ouvindo?
When and where do this concert?
Imbarazzante comportamento! Mille appalusi da parte mia agli immortali Arleen e Bernstein!
...and to think this was written for a castrato two centuries ago, give or take a few decades.
@WestMaroon Ms. Bonney might object since she is very, very much alive!!!
bernstein swings! 4:00
Wo? Theatinerkirche?
