Not that shocking actually, many actors actress do a side job as producer. If you have a lot of money to paid for a whole/ half movie, including the staff & actors, you can start your own movie production movie too.
Total respect for this lady. She did a fabulous job as actress in this movie! 9.5/10 for acting, she carried the movie! ... And her past performance were also great and noteworthy.
I honestly wasn't expecting much out of a Netflix movie. It has its issues, but once the movie got its footing I was hooked! A tragic but very engrossing story. Love seeing a fresh take on the classic princess and dragon trope.
Loved her in the Enola movies and she did great in this film. Sadly, the plot and dialog were pretty weak. I think they wasted her and, rankly, the story idea. It should have been much better. Turns out the director has done mediocre movies and the writer did insipid action movies like Fast X and a Titans movie. I guess Netflix spent all its money on high quality actors MB Brown and Andrea Bassett (and the solid Robin Wright with her name recognition) and not enough on a quality writing/director team.
I watched Damsel and it way exceeded my expectations. There are very few movies I have watched, and after it was done, I thought 'Wow'', and immediately wanted to watch it again. This was one of those movies. If this does not get nominated for an award, I will be shocked. Amazing movie!!
It must be quite challenging as an actor/actress when you’re not acting with anyone. It seems like she’s on her own a lot of the movie which must be difficult to not have anyone to play off of
I really like that this is something different. It's not a remake, a reboot, or an adaptation, it's something original and that's what I like most about it Edit: I was told it is an adaption, so ignore that from my intial point, but nonetheless it's a great movie
You were actually right, it is something original! The book is a novelization of the movie. It was published before the film but was made in conversation with the script writer of the movie.
Damsel is a great film! All the characters had good motivations and personality, and all the characters actions felt deserved and the dragons design was amazing! This was a great movie, 9/10
I loved it also so give it at least 8/10 if not higher can’t believe a few of these TH-cam critics giving it like a 3 or 4 no idea how some gives such low ratings.
This is how its done. Create an original character whos meant to be a warrior and dont turn an already existing story upside down like disney wanted to do with snow white! I love this movie so much
I didn’t come in expecting much but it ended up loving it and now I don’t understand those other reviews saying it’s bad, you know your beloved superhero movies doesn’t always make sense either. I’d argue that this makes more sense and are more interesting than many of them
Same feeling here. I nearly didn't watch the movie because of people reviewing the movie as hor.rible. But after watching it... damm, I give it a solid 19/20 ❤ It is very Goooood!
I loved this film and Millie was awesome in it and whoever created the dragon should get an award, best one I’ve ever seen! Well done everyone involved 🏆🥰♥️
She did such a great job in this movie. It's visually amazing (dragon!) And she needs all the praise for her performance and the physical work she put in. 👏👏👏
I did NOT expect to like this movie. Anything with dragons pretty much sours me. I decided to watch it only because of Angela Basset, Millie Bobby Brown, and Robin Wright. It was so good!!! Millie did SUCH a good job and the entire movie weighed on her! I love her character. I highly recommend it!!
Just watched it tonight. Amazing and inspirational on so many levels. A beautiful heroine, a mother dragon that was the mother of all dragons, and an evil queen. I loved the ending. Please forgive me for saying this, but this movie is worthy of a sequel.
Movie is one of the best I seen in this ganre. You can always make films that pretend to be something they are not, but this one stands unigue on its own , considering modern shananings....Very Inspiring! Mille is a gem!
Really enjoyed it. I won't give away spoilers but there were multiple redemption arcs in this fantasy move that surprised me. I should say there is some form of character development for nearly everyone in this film which you don't usually see in films these days. Great job Millie Bobby Brown. I hope you continue to bring great fantasy content(ie Mistborn) to the silver screen.
The vast majority of us love rooting for the female heroine when it’s not ridiculous & forced. We can automatically tell when it’s a movie strictly made for political points.
I agree. This film didn’t force those standards down our throats. We got to see something simple and effective: a heroine who just so happens to be a female, struggling at first and slowly managing to climb her way up. That’s all we needed. Not a strong ‘female’ character, just a strong female ‘character’.
@salaahkhayr2398 I’m referring to the recent marvel movies that have adopted this trope of making ‘Mary Sues’, which means making a woman character flawless with the only obstacle in her way being her own doubt about herself, and how just by realising the true strength within herself, she can do anything. This might seem like a good idea on paper, but in execution, it fails. I remember watching captain marvel from 2019 and wondering what felt wrong about it and why I didn’t like it as much as the other marvel films at the time. I know now it was because she was able to do everything in one quick succession. There was no struggle, so no reason to root for her. Damsel did a better job of making you root for a character. We saw her struggling at first and slowly climb her way to the top. Yes it would have been nice to know more about her backstory and maybe have introduced a few conflicting morals about her forcing herself to accept the stereotypical standards of woman treatment, but overall, it was still fine we’ll. And it didn’t force anything or put morals first. It cared more about the story it was telling over the morals it was hinting. That’s what makes a good film of the good kind of woke👍🏻
I didn't know this movie was filmed on Portugal until I searched about it after I watched it. Seems like journalist are way too busy to inform about others things rather than just politics. Great film! Greetings from Portugal 🇵🇹 Hope to see more film productions here!
' young girls and boys look up to her ' not just girls, its great to she that she is looking to inspire everyone and not picking sides, she is definetly one of my favoite actresses.
It seems like it is based on subverting the cliche of a knight rescuing a princess from a dragon, but she doesn't acknowledge that. What she does say applies to a significant percentage of all the narratives ever written. Someone unexpectedly finding the strength to overcome adversity and danger is an important story to tell, which is why we already tell that story constantly in every medium.
I thought she was excellent in stranger things. But I was blown away by her acting in Enola Holmes. I agree, she’s arguably the best young actress right now. I hope she continues to choose good roles.
She said “I made it”! Let me check the credits. But I forget for these type of things that she is acting alone most of the time!! Excellent job young lady

Millie you are very great actress and Damsel looks amazing. I hope this movie will be a success by critics and audiences and will be watch by many people around the world. ❤
I'm a 55 yo woman and I enjoyed it very much. It's inspiring for all because you never know in life when it's time to face a dragon. I had to face mine a few years ago while living in Cambodia alone. I did a water fast to cleanse myself but I was very depressed and lost consciousness after about a week. I regained consciousness thanks to my young landlord that came to check on me and was taken to the hospital. The first two things I learned at the hospital were: I had been unconscious for about 2 months, I could no longer move my body properly. I have been disabled since with a mysterious condition of the central nervous system. Was the disease the dragon ? Nope. I had to face an obscure part of myself that was terribly enraged and frustrated for not having control over her life. I had lost hope and faith so I had fallen in a black hole and to re-emerge I had to face my own dark side (the dragon). Nowadays I feel much better and my body has started healing. I totally identified with Milly during the movie: thank you! 💖🤗👍😊😁
For me this was one of the better movies in along time. People talk about it being predictable but to me it all is predictable. I have been reading and watching fantasy for years, there is little left to surprise. But that being said, it was well done, engaging, good pace and no preaching. With so many movies today I sit there going ‘Ok I get it! Move on.’ So much time spent on needless character set ups, we don’t need biographies. This set up characters quickly and efficiently with no “yeah I get it already”. And then read my book until something catches my attention. I did not read through this. Yes there were some scenes I’d be happy to miss but they were quick. Overall I got what I want out of a movie - entertainment.
She yelled and made a lot of noise in the dragon's lair. I'm surprised she survived so long. Ironically, she told her dad to stay quiet under her breath.
I enjoyed the show. Left me wanting more. As in, it was an exciting adventure and I would love to see the next adventure that they have now that they are paired up.❤

Millie Bobby Brown has never done a movie like this and if the movie is great and she really pulls it off, she could be in for more action roles.
