He is so out of his league.. lol She's smart, clever, intelligent, independent and selfless. She is everything he needs. He doesn't know how to handle her at this point. He is fascinated by her. The way he looks at her shows that he's starting to develop feelings for her. One of my favorite shows.
The clip is from "The Sword and the Brocade" a C-drama that first aired back in February 2021. It features Seven Tan as Shiyi-niang and veteran actor Wallace Chung as Xu Lingyi, Marquis Yongping, often called "Houye" by the other protagonists.

In this clip, we see Shiyi-niang, the half-sister of the legitimate elder son of the Luo family. She was the daughter of a concubine who had been exiled to Yuhang (Hangzhou) in the far away Jiangnan, for many years in her childhood, to live a life of near destitution, supporting themselves on embroidery work, until both women were recalled to the capital, because Shiyi had to marry for a family alliance. She ended up with the Marquis who had fortunately already remarked her and fallen in love at first sight, and was of such high virtue that he did not intend to force himself on her, waiting patiently till she could trust and love him back and ask herself for consummation. Besides, he knew that the Luo family would rather have her stay childless to protect the interests of the son the Marquis had begot with his first wife, Shiyi's deceased elder sister, who had died from rather suspicious illness. Shiyi had other plans than really becoming a Xu family member anyway, or next in line to be murdered, and was at first only playing a game of appearances in order to find clues to another murder. She also had friends outside the mansion and a potential lover in Ou Yanxing, the scion of the enemy family. "Houye" was extremely jealous, when he found out, pushed into a rash action that almost got him stabbed to death. But nevertheless he stayed supportive and patient with Shiyi, willing to go through all risks to protect her.
The story has some bloopers probably because film editors had not sufficient time to check it carefully enough, but I will not judge the story too harshly, suffice it to say I watched till the end and even took time to go back to some episodes and check what clips were around (with less outrageous titles than the ones for other popular dramas such as The Eternal Love or Ashes of Love). Viewers also have to bear with C-drama conventions : no nudity, scant open mouth kisses, at the most a bare shoulder shown to indicate a situation where intruders back off when they could have been tempted to mow down the spy with their swords, a mouthful of red "blood" gulped up to indicate serious injury... But I find it nice not to be submitted to too much hard-core or bloody pictures. The Sword and The Brocade is definitely not designed for an audience below 13 years old, but not because of parental warning need, just because the story is designed for people already familiar with some culture : clueless viewers with no knowledge at all of China and the C-drama conventions, could find the story boring and impossible to relate to from their alien point of view.
In addition to the sentimental story (which reminded me of some British Victorian novels -there is a convergence with the notions of propriety and virtue there), I was interested by the description of the mansions, the styles and making of the embroideries, the lovely furniture and sliding moon-shaped windows, heated benches (northern China can be cold in winter, freezing below -10°C, and insulation and heating have long been resolved in such fashion through hot water pipes going under platforms called kangs or benches, in lieu of radiators, also taking advantage of the existing hot springs in the capital) and some other details, like the quotes from classical Chinese literature and poetry, and the glimpses into the handling of more serious political problems of the Ming era, such as disaster relief, flood controls, trade routes along the Grand Canal, war against piracy, organization of the local governing and judicial powers, status of women as trade master but needing backing from extended family or friends, the in-family hierarchical division of powers based on ancient traditions, the silver ingot based money - China also already used paper money at the time, and paper was an expensive commodity.
The OST is also lovely, and uploaders have already posted bilingual lyrics videos and piano tutorials to some of the five theme songs ; there is also a nice counting rhyme used as a lullaby, in the drama, but this one has, to my knowledge, not been uploaded in MV
