Same! But I think my favorite is 2 decades going from 1955(ish)-1975(ish). Such drastic and icon changes during that 20 yrs and it is still admired and emulated to this day! ❤
same!! i love the 60s and 70s. why is it that those years, and the 20s and 10s had the coolest fashion styles in my opinion. i do love tons of other decades though
I have dabbled in film and editing. I just want to say how much I appreciate all the work that you put into making high quality, educational, and fun shorts.
All so creative and cool. Of course back then a lot of people still made their own clothes or altered things to fit better. Ppl took fashion seriously! BTW you look amazing in everything!
My grandmother worked for Hallmark in the 40s 50s 60s and 70s. My sisters would always have the paper party dresses with the matching napkins, cups, plates and table cloths. I believe this is what inspired my love of seamless design.
You should do a closet tour! It would be so cool if you organized everything by decades and did separate videos of each section (I’m sure that’s a ton of work tho)
the shift is so pretty I really want to know who made it! my vintage shifts are my lifeline on hot nights and under wool but they are all much more basic!
Adding to the great list in these comments, from someone who grew up in those days: >New Romantic (wide picture hats, ruffles for females AND males, floral ties and shirts for men, ) >Military Look for women/Carnaby Street (epaulette shirt plus tie plus webbing belt plus fisherman's cap) > Space Age Look (Metallic finishes on leather or vinyl, use of shiny plastics for bags coats belts hats and shoes > 1920s Revival (feather boa, headband across forehead, bead necklaces to the waist, looong scarves, drop-waisted dress, cigarette holders, tiny bags) > Check wool Pants Suits over turtleneck sweaters > shoulder bags instead of handbags > dressy boots -- mod style -- ankle, midcalf and knee-high boots For both men and women: > zippers as decoration, exposed not hidden > machine embroidery and contrast stitching as detail > oversized collars, lapels, cuffs, belts, mens ties > chisel and square toes on shoes
Cleopatra and Dr Zhivago also influenced styles back then. I have pictures of my mom wearing her hair like Elizabeth Taylor's and 5 years later in long fur trimmed coat like Julie Christie. And all the ladies wanted to look like the astronauts' wives, and the astronauts' wives wanted to look like Jackie. These were the average everyday women, not the cutting edge fashion followers.
Twiggy also ruined the curvy figure for women for decades and introduced the unhealthy aspirations for the very thin frame! I know a lot of people hold her in high regard for what she did for the fashion world but certainly don't! We went from Marylin to Twiggy, and it took us decades to undo that damage!
Wear what feels good to you. Maybe you don't think the most trendy 60s silhouettes work for your body, but you could take inspiration from the patterns, colours, and accessories, instead.
I don't argue with your presentation: these fashions were certainly featured in women's magazines of the era. But I grew up in the 60s, and the vast majority of women did not wear any of these fashions. My mom and friends' moms wore comfortable pants and tops, and we wore cute dresses, no particular style.
It depends. My friends and I definitely wore the late 60s hippie styles. My mom had a lot of the mid 60s shift style dresses. I can't say I remember what any of her friends wore, so she may have been an exception.
Don't forget the big, bold accessories and the bright, jewel toned eyeshadows. It was the first age of winged eyeliner too.
Winged eyeliner was around in the 50s too
“First” is a BOLD claim
@@sofijones5048lmaooo
Winged eyeliner was done by the Egyptians, the first people ever to use makeup in history.
Try again on your wing history, little one.
Forgot the micro-miniskirt, like worn by Nancy Sinatra or the gals on the original Star Trek. Also, "hot pants", and hip-hugger bell-bottom jeans.
that would bring it above 60 seconds 😂
That's all very 70s...
As a 5 year- old in 1968, I had a paper dress just like my big sister. I thought I was the coolest kid ever ever.
The paper dress has a tear right in the middle😢😢😢
Girl, you look so good in 60 styles 😍
Awe thank you ❤️
I live and die by fit and flare dresses, a line, circle skirts, ballgowns, black tie, I'm obsessed.
My favorite fashion decade 😅
mine too! its so fun and colorufullll
Same! But I think my favorite is 2 decades going from 1955(ish)-1975(ish). Such drastic and icon changes during that 20 yrs and it is still admired and emulated to this day! ❤
The bell bottoms, bell sleeves, halter tops, and head bands!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I can’t believe the paper dress has survived 60 years!
It has a hole in it 🥲
I love 60s fashion and makeup. I’m still very much inspired by the 60s and 70s in my everyday style.
same!! i love the 60s and 70s. why is it that those years, and the 20s and 10s had the coolest fashion styles in my opinion. i do love tons of other decades though
Yes! People so often think only hippie or mod was 60s, but there’s a whole gamut
I grew up in the 1960s. I think you nailed it - all three!
Being 81 ,I have lived thru these eras.It occurred to me several years ago that the style decades changed on the 5's. 55-65; 65-75;75-85.
By the way,you were so right on by dividing the 🎉era into 3 parts, rather than lumping it all together. 1st part still felt ingluencexof the 50 's.
The mid to late 60s is my favorite parts of the decade ❤ so many iconic and fun looks
Call the Midwife has some amazing 50’s and 60’s fashions
My favorite show! They really nailed the gradual fashion shifts from 1957 on, and I love the music thar shows up in the episodes.

She is so beautiful. Perfect

I found an INSANE late 1960's empire waist maxi dress in a orange/yellow funky pattern at my local salvation army for $14.99. Mint condition too!!

My grandmother worked for Hallmark in the 40s 50s 60s and 70s. My sisters would always have the paper party dresses with the matching napkins, cups, plates and table cloths. I believe this is what inspired my love of seamless design.
Wow you have amazing outfits. I loved them all. ❤
I will forever love hippie style minus the fringe.
I love the outfit with the orange tights it looks amazing on you!
We went through a lot of changes in the 1960's.
Love the 60s bouffant! I like to wear it as a casual hairstyle even when I’m dressed modern, it adds a touch of vintage.
Oooo the first blue green 50s dress was epic!! 💕
I love the 20s because of the wedding dresses! They're gorgeous 🤩

It was a fun decade to be a pre teen!
Fishnet stockings! Very mod; mine were neon orange!
Can you do a breakdown like this for the 70s, if you haven’t already.
Culturally speaking, the changes between the mid sixties and the late sixties were so drastic that they could be considered two different eras.
Can you do one on 1940s pls
She showed a pic of Janis Joplin I love Janis Joplin she’s one of my favorite musicians
I love these videos! Can you do 40s or 50s next?
I love when people microdigest a decade's fashion statements based on how early or how far they are away from the previous decade
Mary Quant! Miniskirt mother!

Fun fact about the dress is made from paper TWA actually had some of their stewardesses where these paper dresses on flights
And this is why people, use antiquism fashion, to newer things than the last exist.
Madras plaids where the colors ran and faded naturally.

You missed mini skirts worn with short pin cord jacket, polo neck jumper, textured tights and knee length boots.

Me with my bitties and broad shoulders desperately trying to emulate 60s fashion😭😭😭
Wear what feels good to you. Maybe you don't think the most trendy 60s silhouettes work for your body, but you could take inspiration from the patterns, colours, and accessories, instead.
Same but 40s-50s 🤧
