Costa Rica - Mother turtle attempts (and fails) to lay her eggs

This female turtle made her way back to Playa Minas in Costa Rica, the place where she was born. Her goal this evening was to find the perfect location to lay her eggs (up to 80 of them!) Unfortunately, things did not go as planned--turtles do not have great vision plus it's really dark. She left the water at the far end of the beach, where there were many rocks and tree roots. She was unable to find a place to dig down the two feet necessary to lay her eggs. After about a half-hour of trying, she gave up and made her way back to the sea. If she's not too tired, she will try again elsewhere on the beach in a few hours. Otherwise, she will try again the next night.
