  • I show you some artwork for FFF and talk about the graphics and the development of this game.
    This game is rated M for Mature (Region 2) and T for Teen by the ESRB.
    My video is therefore NOT suitable for children as per the COPPA legislation.

    Correction: the PS4 of course came out already in late 2013 (early 2014 in my region). FFF was released, still on the PS3, in 2014. When I say "two years later", I actually mean that the game was released for the PS4 two years later! Bit of a brain fart there .. just wanted to clear that up. The timing of release was obviously awkward for this game.

    Social media platforms are problematic, but each day I find something unexpected and endearing. This may sound silly to whoever reads this comment, but channels like this reaffirm an otherwise painful existence. Thank you.

    Love how you can hear Ys music in the background. As for the game, I have it on steam and I still have to play it, if I remember well it also has Uematsu on the music composition as well.
    Cheers.

    For the longest time, the only thing I knew about from Idea Factory was the English voice acting in Chaos Wars. You're helping to give me a much more complete picture of their games, though - thank you! :3 You really are quite well-traveled when it comes to jRPG's and the like!

    You sound like an appraiser from the Antique Road Show and I love it.

      😂 That is just too funny. Mind you, they're a load of old codgers (like me) on that show, aren't they? Been years since I watched it.

    My first Idea Factory game was the first Agarest games then I played all the Hyper Dimension Neptunia games

    I loved FFF. Was never really a fan of Hyperdimension Neptunia or any of those games, but FFF just has some great humour that I don't think HDN really tapped. Some of the characters are very loveable and it was just overall a pleasant experience with great pacing.

      I think FFF is underappreciated, and I hear that a lot from people who have actually played it
      HDN is a bit of a one-trick pony really.

    I love the artwork of Yoshitaka Amano. He also did the cover art for the Vampire Hunter D novels (they are a good read too, if you've never read them before).
    My other favorite artist is Ayami Kojima who did the artwork for many of the Castlevania games, like the beautiful cover art for Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. I believe she also returned to contribute to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

    I played FFF a few months ago and I loved it. Fang and Eryn and Tiara are so endearing to be with,and the designs and art was very memorable and fun, so I'm happy to see you commented on that.

      I've been a staunch advocate of FFF (and the original FF) since it appeared on PS3. It gets so much unwarranted bad rap. Glad to hear you love it!

    Recently found your channel and I'm really enjoying the content. Hard to come by JRPG channel, or game channel in general, without loads of video editing. I miss these more "personal" types of reviews. Feels like the person behind the screen could be my friend recording on their house or something. Really comfy.
    Now, onto the video itself. Honestly, as much as I love JRPGs, I can't bring myself to enjoy Compile Heart and Idea Factory games, they always seemed so basic and barebones to me. As if they were just trying to create a working game, instead of something worth remembering.
    Though that was years ago, and I think the first Neptunia game might've broken my view of them quite harshly. What you said about their games being of more ease of access in terms of it's gameplay never crossed my mind. Maybe I'm just going into these games with the wrong expectations.
    Wouldn't mind giving another shot at one of their works, but for now I'm very concentrated on other games.
    Again, really enjoy your content, and I think your opinions were laid out very clear on this video. Have a nice day and stay safe!

    • @Food4Dogs
      @Food4Dogs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Thank you for your comments. I do describe my channel as "cozy", so I'm glad to hear you find the ambience comfy.
      I think your phrase "wrong expectations" is the key here. I would never claim that Neptunia games are great works of art. But they have a place, and they have a special place in my heart for many reasons. Also: nobody *has* to like them. 😀 Some people do, some don't. That's just normal and how life works. 😎
      But IMO Idea Factory have made real strides with their more recent games and I have discussed this in unboxings of, for example, Death end and Dragon Star Varnir. I'm sure I'll be talking more about those, in the future.

    Great video! I am enjoying FFF tremendously. It has a lot of references to other games and isn’t shy about making fun of them or itself. I like that it can stand on it’s own merit and still offer subtle things for others to enjoy. It is for sure an acquired taste, but it embraces it and is exceptionally fun as a result. 😀

      Good to see someone 'getting' the way that many Japanese games make fun of their own conventions and tropes.

    All this time, I thought this was the collectors edition, well today I learned. Also the back of the box, everytime I saw that piece of art I felt like it didn't fit in so well with the character design etc but it makes much more sense now I learn it is concept art, not even by the same artist as the character design. Seeing all the stuff you're posting of it makes me realise I should maybe put it further up on my to play list. Interesting that they contracted these big names from the FF scene, I think you are right that they tried to hit big with it, but did they? I feel like it is one of the lesser played IFI games out there.

    • @Food4Dogs
      @Food4Dogs  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, they aimed high .. and sadly it didn't pay off for them. I think it's regarded as an "also ran" in general.
      The problem with IF games is that, unless you're already in that niche, they just don't seem to entice a wider audience.
      Another interesting facet (I didn't get to discuss in video) is that this is one of the Galapagos RPG branded IF games - i.e. more classic JRPG focus. Same as Dragon Star Varnir, Death end Request, Omega Quintet.
      Apparently the upcoming Arc of Alchemist will also be Galapagos.

    The background music seemed almost familiar in the video, but about 4½ minutes in I squealed when I realized what I was hearing! Fantastic, beautiful and serene choice. 👌
    Thanks for the discussion and showcase. ☺️

      PoodlePa insists that we have *that* theme on the PS4 in the lounge - he'll have no other! 😁
      I've had several people comment how much they love the theme music. We never tire of it.

    Its so wonderful to see someone talking about this wonderful game, its truly a unspoken gem that I feel rarely gets the attention it deserves, while the game can be a bit tiresome to grind levels in the early game its story and late game combat more then make up for its slower paced opening, I've yet to find an rpg that has made me laugh as much as FF yet still come across as real people in the more tense story beats, without spoiling any of it, I still remember that "first ending" bring me to tears,
    would also just like to mention how Fang really with thru some real growth throughout the course of the game, and it didn't feel forced ether like some other rpgs do that I shall not mention here

      Well, I just love your comment! It mirrors my feelings about FF/FFF.
      I'm often appalled how biased commentators can be just bc they dislike (why?) Japanese anime aesthetics.

    You are my new favorite female TH-camr. Great job on the unboxing. This game was updated and better. I hope it receives a sequel. It's my favorite remake/remastered game for the PS4. Continue making great content. ^_^

      So good to see another fan who appreciates FFF.
      Btw, I used to watch your channel a lot over the years; I just checked and noticed I wasn't subbed any more, so rectified that straightaway.
      Unfortunately, I can't get the Notifications bell to work - it says it's disabled bc of content for children (COPPA).

    I love Fairy Fencer F, but sadly, the Advent Dark Force has a shitty PC port. Can't play it at all without crashing.

    • @Food4Dogs
      @Food4Dogs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hmm. I can only see one other report of crashing on the Steam store. I thought IF did generally good PC ports (?) - but I don't play their games on PC so don't know.
      Please note!! that TH-cam blocks words like "sh..." - so please be careful in future. It's tedious for me having to rescue comments from the Spam bin.

      @@Food4Dogs oops. Im sorry, won't use harsh words again. but yea, IF has good ports in general, but in FFFADF, there's this video memory leak issue that never been fixed. I can't even played it past the prison/dungeon part. Alwaysh crash
