I'm hearing stronger, punchier mids on the console. Similar to my own experience mixing in my DAW vs. mixing on two separate hardware (but digital) mixers - Allen and Heath Qu16 and through the MOTU mixer that's built into their AVB interfaces. I'm not sure why it "feels" so different, and there's no shortage of amazing-sounding "in the box" mixes, but this is a stark difference. Recently I've switched to only using the DAW as a record/playback system. Thanks for the video - enjoyed listening to your mix decisions in real time. My skills are a WIP and this is helpful!

Vocals sound better in the box and it has more 3D sound over all compared to the Midas. The panning and reverb are very different so it's difficult to compare. Both sound great!
When the F series came out a friend of mine said he heard the sound of it and wasn't impressed, didn't like the eq and so on...well, I guess he was wrong this is clear, thanks for this video! From what I learned the pres and the summing are not different from the U series so...despite I could get an xl200, xl3 or even an audient aztec for reasonably chip money, those are really big and heavy and I think I'll go one for the f or u instead.
I'm sure people who have worked on the big boy consoles (SSL, API, Neve) might have legit beefs with the EQs. But, for what these go for in comparison, it's hard for me to say boo. 😅
Ho and question, i thought about getting a Motu 24/8 the older version, and plug it in my focusrite 18i20 3rd gen through ADAT, do you think it can work ? How many of these can you stack up together ?
Hey, thank you! I used all 24 mono tracks and two of the stereo tracks. I'll probably bus more tracks together on my next mix. I'm not sure about the 24/8 question. I don't know much about those units.
Sounds nice! Actually using a well recorded good song is so important. There are waay too many videos of people showing off gear with trash recordings, which they then rip into with unmusical, uneducated mixing. This really shows the mixer in a true musical context
